I'm also tempted to do a close-in of Tali's helmet visor..."Could you say no to this face?"

It's nice to see the subtitles working well with the picture.

Go for it Andy, at worse they will say remove it...

And not like your posting it all over the net.....you are posting it in the Bioware forums.

And Morning all :) Just sorting pics out now (hate how fraps uses bmp as the format in the free version....so converting them as we speak and then getting them uploaded to site. decided will link all the large ones in the group, and all the ones I crop (for various reasons like text wheel showing) ill post in here :)

Maviarab--do you have all your pics sorted in a photobucket album, or something?

I've stolen a good chunk of your amazing screencaps and I will eventually compile all of my photobucket into a Miri album, but if you already have something similar I can link it to the front page. (Since we have SO MANY great screencaps, I don't want to link them all individually.)

(Ditto Nadia, or anyone else with tons of screencaps.)

Then buy the registered version. It costs almost nothing. And it's worth it. Admittedly, one step more using IrfanView does not seem like much, especially if you extract parts from a complete screenshot anyway as I tend to do, but it does get tedious.

@darkshadow136:
Thanks. And welcome!

Yeah, I had a few characters in mind to 'throw under the bus' if it came to it, and 'DLC guy' was definitely at the top of the list. (Even though it was pretty bad-ass to get his loyalty with an uber-high Paragon score.)

Although I thought the opposite--the crew escort was the chance to get someone out alive guaranteed. So I sent back Mordin, because I wanted him to cure the genophage. (Needed Miri for the final battle! Although all those points in Overload didn't do me any good....)

Yeah, that was cool in Zaeed's loyalty mission. I was a bit disappointed there wasn't a renegade option to just kill him at the end of his mission though, I would've felt like a badass. Posted Image

You can actually leave him for dead on his loyalty mission. I think that the option only comes up though if you do it after the suicide mission and you have to have at least 2 other party members (so zaeed would be the third or more).

Someone posted a screenshot on one of the other topics on the boards showing the option where Shep basically states they are just going to leave Zaeed trapped if you take the initial paragon route.

Anyway, morning (just as it now 11.50am here hehe) mirimaniacs

Wow, thanks for the tip Ulrich. BioWare always hide so many options in their game I was surprised they didn't give you an option to kill him.

You know, I keep wondering if the forum post number is a signed 16-bit integer. Probably not these days, but if so, I'm glad the Tali thread will crash the server before we do. They have about 7000 to go, which doesn't seem that much considered their traffic.

So...here's a thought...rehashing something I remember from the DAO forums, a joke about how Bioware romances require you to play psychologist...

A big part of Miranda's appeal is that despite her supreme confidence in her capabilities, she still has doubts and vulnerabilities that she reveals to Shepard.

We've discussed her side of the relationship from lots of different angles, but what about Shepard? If I have one big criticism of the 'bioware romance', it's that it's almost always one-way. And Miranda--more then any other potential LI IMO--is the sort of person Shepard could actually ask for advice. And it'd make nice symmetry to the relationship, as Shepard's seeming perfection is no more real then Miranda's.

So what would Shepard say to Miranda, if he decided to share any of his problems with her?

For my (paragon) Shepard, there are two big things that come to mind. I think that having fought so hard for the council and its ideals, to uncover the reaper threat, and all the hard work he did was undone by bureaucratic nonsense. I can't help but feel that Shepard might worry some of his values were incorrect.

But I think the personal stuff would grate more. For me the one of the saddest scenes in all ME2 is the reunion with Joker, where you ask, "Where is everyone?" and Joker sorta says, "Without you, it all just faded away." Garrus goes all renegade-Batman on Omega. Shepard's death drives Liara over the edge. And being brought back via Cerberus makes all his old friends fear and distrust him, like Anderson and Ashley. (Though no need to dwell too long on Ashley, as discussing exes with your girlfriend is always a little awkward ; )).

Shepard might even worry that 'the man' has become bigger then 'the message', that it's about Shepard instead of saving the galaxy.

(And I inch still closer to writing a fanfic. LOL.)

That's a very interesting thought Com, it's something that's always bothered me. I mean, you get to find out a lot about your LI, but they never ask about you.

So what would Shepard say to Miranda, if he decided to share any of his problems with her?

I think the most obvious thing my Shepard would talk to Miranda about would be Akuze. Your entire team was slaughtered there because (according to Corporal Toombs) Cerberus unleashed Thresher Maw's on the unit so they could experiment on them. This is the defining moment in Shepard's career/life and I don't think he would be very happy working for Cerberus after this. If you could talk to Miranda, maybe she would find out the truth and we'd know for sure if Cerberus really were responsible.

But I think the personal stuff would grate more.

Absolutely, especially the big choices you have to make in Mass Effect 1. Shepard should be able to speak more about leaving Ashley/Kaidan behind on Virmire, (potentially) having to shoot Wrex, (potentially) freeing the rachni queen and (again, potentially) killing an entire human colony. It would be great to get Miranda's opinions on these things, and maybe help put Shepard's concerns at ease somewhat.

If you could PM me your album link, I'll put it in the front page.

Also, having a thread for wallpapers in the group is a good idea.

Yeah it is kind of funny that the only person you can kind of get close to that sort of situation is Kelly (granted she is obviously a counsellor) and even then it is done more for a 'flirty' nature rather than actual proper conversation.

Trouble is I can't see anyway they could implement it because no matter what original 'backstory' you select out of the history files, people are going to have their shep's different from one another. So it would be tough to incorporate all the possibilities and thus as you state at the bottom, the closest you could get to that is writing your own fanfic on the matter.

Morning fellow mirimaniacs. Going to school in about an hour, thought I'd drop by. Keep up the good fight.

Hey what do you guys think is Miri's favorite poptart? Lol.

And about some earlier comments about Yvonne's lack of her accent in Chuck, in season 3 she is starting to sound more like herself. Rather than sounding totally American, she has managed to inflect her Australian accent lately, even if ever so slightly.

So, Miri's poptart? :D

It would be interesting - certainly, to have it being a two way street.  Whichever background, the defining moment is always a harrowing thing. Even the 'paragon' option of being a war hero would mark/scar you - never mind the other two, which would definately . They've all been put under horrendous amounts of pressure and not broken. It would be good if in the dialogue Shep could show some variety of emotion relevant to the background - it would make him/her seem a lot more human.
