Are we supposed to be able to choose starting skills / talents / spells yet?

If so, how?

I've created a warrior and a rogue and in both cases it takes me past the screens listing the available and pre-selected skills and talents, without offering me the ability to select any.

This is at odds with the Wiki page on character creation, which says that you choose one or two skills / talents / spells at character creation time.

So... am I missing something?

yup, with the character creator you can't pick the skills/talents, but I'm sure you can with the full game.

I think they honestly wanted to set this up as so if a person doesn't want to spend alot of time making a character they can have it and get right into it.

More than likely, when the game is out, we can load up our characters but will go through all the choices once again,

The full game will allow you to have such information displayed for each character you create. If you so wish to choose to share this information with others in the DA Community, they will be able to select your characters stored in your player profile.

This will include the choices you've made, along with your talent progression tree, stats, equipment and general information.

See Kiir as an example - Level 22 Dwarf Commoner origin, minus the story (removed to avoid spoilers).

Ya this is just a teaser, just something to keep us from tearing out our hair while waiting for the game to be released. T-Minus 19 days. *shivers*

I don't believe you'll ever be able to choose starting talents and skills. Those are set in stone based on your class and origin.

I hope so? I'll just trust Fester Pot's response, since it sounds like the most informative and logical. I'll adapt in any case, since this game is so huge and will allow me to choose in what direction I shall lead my PC. It's all good!

Yes, I think the devs at one point stated that they didn't want players to start off choose wrong skills and keep dying or find the game way to hard.

So those starting skills/abilities are what the devs thought you'd need to get through your origin. You can't change them from what i've read, you can only add new skills/feats as you level up.

Though with 20 levels, and you start at 1, i'm sure you'll be able to buy plenty of abilities.

Sound cool, can't wait to play! So if I decide to upload my characters to this site, anyone can play them or just see what I have done?

I believe the devs stated that all the warriors started with shield bash, and rogues with dirty fighting because you need cc for the origins, which wouldn't make sense if the talents in the character creator are the ones you get. (Dwarf commoners and and elves get that dual weapon sweep).

I'm not sure about that though.

And droid, I'm pretty sure it's just for show.
