I've just done adept on veteran, my only playthrough so far, and I found it to be great fun, maybe a little OP (don't know though - yet to play anything else). I found myself using pull with the area upgrade the most - it has a tiny cooldown and absolutely destroys husks. Sure you need a method of dealing with shields but as soon as an enemy is down to just health it may as well be dead for an adept.

Also don't forget that anyone you hit with pull (or singularity if you prefer) becomes a floating bomb - hit them with warp and they'll knock over anyone nearby, shielded or not.

I like the way you shoot powers now too, it gives you some control over the direction enemies get pulled/thrown in, which I found made pull a lot more fun than lift ever was.

Oh yes, on veteran or below the adept is awesome. The problem lies when you want to do your insanity achievement (or if you simply want a challenge), and none of your abilities in any way affect anyone with armor, shields, or barriers.

universal cooldowns are bad for the adept.

^^^
I hate the universal cooldown with a passion and I played a Vanguard. Can't imagine dealing with it as an adept.

try using Singularity + Heavy Warp, and tell me that isn't fun!

What is the OP smoking? Some of the coolest moments in the game was using biotic powers. Though my Adept mainly used a Pull Field + Unstable Warp combo, but I've been using Heavy Throw with my Sentinel and I just now put a point into Warp. 2 of the best biotic moments I have had involve glass. The first was during Thane's recruitment quest. The area that is open then leads down a hallway, yeah I know that's not very specific, anyways there were three panels of glass along one of the walls in the hallway and I threw a guy at such an angle that he hit and slid across the wall through all three panes of glass. The other was during Samara's recruitment, in the area where you first see the gunship, not when you go up against it. just after that area in the next room across the way I had just taken out a biotics barrier as I took cover, she went around to the other side of the crate and I sent Throw after her, hit her in the head somersaulting her through a window to her death.

And to those b****ing about the cooldowns, you just miss power spamming. That's what made a Vanguard with Singularity superior to an Adept, you could spam all your biotic powers, use Adrenaline Burst, then spam your biotic powers again. Sure you felt like an all powerful jedi but the result was practically game breaking.

To those b****ing about the resistances, ME1 character did resist from time to time but you had no way of knowing why, this shows you why. And it also gives enemies their own strengths and weaknesses. In ME1 the only character that broke away from the cookie cutter mold were Biotics, which weren't very numerous, those hopping Geth which were mainly just annoying, Krogan and large bipedal Geth. The last 2 in their tendency to charge at you. Which brings me to another point, how were the Krogan in ME1 harder than in ME2? In ME1 I found them to be pretty weak, at least with my HE rounds and scram rail shotgun. In ME2 they use the resistance system, if you use weapons that target their weaknesses your good to go, if you don't they can be trouble.

Again about the resists, not really a big deal to me, might be more of a big deal on high difficulty levels but not on normal. Taking out resistances of an entire group can set you up for some pretty epic moments, like running in with tech armor then the blast knocking everyone down to be met with AR fire.

I played an adept on first playthrough. Died a couple of times, no biggie.

So I thought to myself: "Hey, why not try insanity?"

Bad idea imo. Died at least 15 times per mission. Freedom's Progress was hard as hell as adepts damage suck against synthetics.

Also, the low armor and HP doesnt help.

I played Adept on hardcore difficulty and there were only 2 problems, global cooldown and the start of the game.
In the second half of the game when you get upgrades and higher level your biotic abilities will get lower and lower cooldown, so it was abit frustrating in the beginning of the game. Otherwise I love the adept, pull + throw combo is hilarious, shockwave is sweeeeet. Had no problems with the class during the suicide mission.

I did my first insanity run with an adept and I really like the class.

Wide Singulariy
Heavy Throw
Heavy Warp
Heavy Warp Ammo
Sniper Rifle

I think it's a great mix of shooting and casting biotics. I think removing the global cooldown would be an improvement to the class though whithout making things too easy.

Adept is the most fun class. It isn't the most powerfull class (so if for you owning everything is the only way to have fun, you might have a problem) and it lost some of its appeal from ME 1, but it has the most fun powers, the ability to curve them and playing as an Adept just plain looks nice. I can't understand why there aren't more players playing Adepts... or Sentinels and Vanguards for that matter.

I think what people are forgetting is that at some point you may actually have to shoot your gun. I know, I know, but you just have to sometimes.

That wasn't a problem for me. As adept I also took the assault rifle, then I had all assault rifle upgrades + grunt's incendiary squad ammo. Ontop of that the biotic abilities Posted Image

Thanks for your amazing opinion. I'm glad you felt the need to make a thread where you state your opinion like it's fact. No one gives a **** about what you think. It's fun for other people and not for you, great, so why does this thread exist?

I had fun playing my Adept on hardcore. I just had to make good use of my squadmates.

I played my first game as adept and I certainly had fun. The universal cool-down wasn't necessarily enjoyable, but without it the adept would've been too powerful imo since he can still use assault rifles and heavy weapons. If there were no universal cool-down there'd be a bunch of people complaining about how op adept is. At least there's a challenge for you now.

I'm playing through on Insanity and imported my ME1 character. I'm playing as an adept and I must say, it's way easier than a vanguard. I'm really liking it.

I prefer vanguard. If you know how to use the class you can clear rooms within 5 min.

Um, Warp affects armor just fine and actually does huge bonus damage to barriers.

I had fun with my Adept on Insanity.  Shields are annoying but that's what squadmates with Overload are for.

I LOVED the Adept. Played it all the way through Insanity and had a "Blast" (Warp detonated puns intended). Everyone has their own play style. The game is diverse enough for everyone to find their own niche class to play.

Played adept on hardcore. It was fantastic. Way more fun than Soldier or Infiltrator. It's not true that Biotic powers don't do anything on defended enemies. Those are the words of people who don't play Adepts.

i loved the adept in ME1. all those biotics to throw around almost nonstop. playing with biotics were a ton of fun. this whole biotic protection in ME2 sortof takes away from that freedom an adept could have. lets just see a patch allowing armor to be effected by biotics and have it be over with. i can live with that. biotics as a hole are nerfed because theres not alot of enemies with only health and killing enemies with only health is easy enough without biotics. but specifically speaking with the adept in ME2, what hurts it the most is the universal cooldowns. individual cooldowns allowed the player to play tactically and use the right ability for the situation. global cooldown means you only need one ability to accomplish one thing. i dont need all those abilities an adept has when i can take a bonus talent like slam and be almost equally as effective as an adept. ill just be spamming slam over and over.

its a shame the adept went in such a drastic downhill roll from ME1 to ME2. you dont get to throw and lift enemies into the air in alot of videogames, and ME2 sortof took that fun out of playing ME.

Global Cooldown is the Suck!

Lets be honest, if each power had a its own cooldown, that would be so much better I feel.  At least for Adept/Sentinel.

Since those 2 use powers more(to extent Engineer & Vangaurd)

It seems most of the people complaining about the adept have probably never tried to use singularity on a protected target.

Played Adept on Veteran for my first playthrough. I admit that at first I felt like the OP, but once I got used to the difference between ME1 and ME2, and levelled my Adept up a bit, I found it exceptionally fun. I suggest he keep at it.
