Get the upgrade to make the scanner faster?

But I have to admit, the lack of customisation for armour and weapons is bad and provides only a monotonus scheme to your team.

Also planet scanning is boring, yet provides too much resources (I've purchased all the upgrade I can at the time and still have 30k Zero and +100k everything else.

I have to say. The first Mass Effect felt like a story. This one felt like a Miniseries. I hope it's just because this is the middle story.

It's still slow, man.

1) wow really you didn't like the story..
2) i agree lack of inventory...the new system is fine but there is no trade. Buy&selling is a cool element of rpg games.
3) Scanning is cool..
4) garrus alternate suit shouldn't be damaged...why does he have to run around in messed up armour..

-- No Inventory

-- No Grenades

-- No crouch (but melee deserves to have it's own button?!?! WHAT????)

-- ME2 Shepard's "Slimer Floating Torso Syndrome" (can no longer see characters legs because the camera's too panned in)

-- Planet Scanning. (Nuff' said.)

-- Femsheps Rocky Balboa walk / jog

-- Not being able to walk because of AWFUL sensitivity calibration on the 360 left stick.

I just thought my Xbox 360 controller was
messed up. Thanks for clearing that up. Now I know
I have to turn down the sensitivity on my
controller. Will that work?

I thought the conversation options for team mates were toned down. They didn't say as much so were much less interesting than in ME1. I really enjoyed some the stories that Wrex and Garrus told me in ME1 didn't seem like my squad mates in ME2 had as much to say.

Most of my gripes have been cover, even the Garrus armour one, so I'll just paste this in from another thread. Image IPB
Here's my problem with the ME 2 loot system.

In ME 1, yes loot might be some generic weapons/armour/mods but it could also be data files that would update your codex. It could be an ancient artifact of the protheans to advance mankinds knowledge, it could be a lost Turian colony insignia or Slarian League of One medallion to learn of past alien conflicts and intrigues. You might get an encrypted memo that leads to a side mission. You could find out that the Protheans spied an ancient hominids. You might get a criminals data files and help a plucky young reporter.

In ME 2 what do you get? Cash. Loot a safe? Cash. Hack a terminal? Cash. Splice a PDA? Cash. Explore virgin forest on an unexplored world? Cash.

So yes the shift in loot systems decreases the RPG feel of ME 2 because hacking a computer and finding data files feels real, checking out a PDA on the body of a dead scientist in an abandoned black lab and finding ... cash ... actively kicks me right in my suspension of disbelief, or sense of immersion if you prefer. It's just blah. Image IPB

* Female romance options T_T... I want Miranda with out having to turn myself into a dude. Haha. And even so, fine, they didn't give girls/guyswhoplaygirls miranda. But as a girl x girl relationship you get the secretary (

* Gun Customization: One awesome thing from ME1 is getting to upgrade your guns with explosive rounds V or something or another... I miss that.

^ Ammo: Maybe its because I'm an engy but I hate having low rounds for the big weapons... Couldn't I find a store that sold ammo?

* Character Interaction: One of the great things about this game is the interactions with the characters. I remember in ME1 I hated how long each mission was (but loved it to) because I wanted to get the next detail out of Ashley or Garrus or whoever. In this game all details seem minor, easy to pull out. Not to mention, when you have characters in the Party, they rarely interact in the dialogue. I miss how these conversations used to impact your relations with the party. Also the dialogue seems so much shorter then before. Everything is just so "quick and simple"... Sometimes people realize things way to quickly or people don't continue on in an arguement they are having with another and it just seems... unrealistic. This is probably my least favorite thing but favorite thing too. I always liked the character interaction in the game but I feel they downplayed it from the last. However, they slightly make up for it by having individual missions for a specific party member. However, they are way too easily to obtain. I was surprised how easily I got the first one. It used to be you had to be diploimatic in conversations, careful of what you say. Now its way too easy.

However... I actually like the scanning system. It's not slow for me at all. Probably cause I scan let go move scan let go. I don't hold scan the whole time. And I've been able to deplete quite a few planets. Last game it sort of became a chore going down on the planet just for materials, waiting for the load screen... And having some worm trying to kill you (Though the worm was fun). Ah... I do miss that though. I miss getting to drive around!!

Anyways. I haven't beaten the game yet, only gotten through miranda's specific mission. I knew before I began the game I wasn't going to be able to romance her. But but... I had hoped Tali! Comeon... She screams Lesbian! Oh well oh well. *tear*. Haha. I hoped even maybe Jack. So romance options... HUGE dissapointment. Sort of makes me lose faith in the game....

(Though the only time I got a pleasurable romance from Bioware was in Jade Empire O_o.... So... But I mean... The other ones were decent... This one is just downright baaaaaaaaad)

Thermal clips.

The way the combat is structured, it makes me revert to my FPS/TPS playing style.

But then the enemies have RPG health and powers, which means I ran out of ammo quite frequently.

Also, the complete lack of actual effectual decision making, excep at the end.

1) First and foremost the outfits the allies wear in combat.  They're just fine for casual outfits, but I'd really like them to wear armor in a fight.  I even have a poll up to find others' opinions on the matter.

2) Too few items per slot on the N7 Armor.  The N7 Helmet should give a different bonus, and I'd really like every slot to have six different items, perhaps as many as eight.

3) Weak upgrade system on the weapons, new weapons you find tend to be better rather than merely different.

4) No toggle option for helmets in dialogue on DLC armors.  I really don't care because I think the helmets look great, but the whiners won't shut up about this and they're driving me crazy.

loading screens, mission complete screen, lack of party banter, lack of squad dialog, lack of squad healthbars, lack of squad armor

Lets also not forget the very limited skill development you have of over your squad.  In ME1 each character had a large variety of abilities to choose from, not only four.  There are more weapons to choose from in ME1, more planets to expolre, and a more open feel to the game.  Also the tech abilities and biotics in ME1 were more useful.  All that is needed in ME2 in an assault rifle and Adrenaline Rush.  In ME1 nearly every enemy had shields, making abilities like overload very useful.  In harder settings of ME2 enemies all start having some sort of defense, but more often than not its armor which makes Incinerate very useful, but no other tech ability.  Also biotics could be used even if the enemy had shields, unlike ME2.  I am also not the biggest fan of the ammo system, mainly because it got rid of abilities like Overkill and Sabatoge.  Lastly everytime you use an ability you go into a global cool down making so you can't use any other abilities, my biotic and engineer thrived on the fact that I was able to use abilities in rapid succession.  With all that said, I do appriciate the improved AI and targeting system for both weapons and special abilites, and that I can put my ally abilities into my hotbar for quick access.

P.S.  WTF is up with not giving Tali any worthwhile abilities?  She went from awesome to suck: Overload+Sabatoge+Damping field = Crowd control goddes.  Combat droid+AI hacking = Worthless.

Lack of interaction between your companions. Grunt seems to like Jack. If you take on on the mission to recruit Jack, he comments on how he wants to see Jack in action. I was disappointed that he pretty much just ignores Jack once you recruit her.

The companions never really get to use their special skills. For example, Thane is supposed to be one of the deadliest assassins in the galaxy but he never gets to use his infiltration and assassination skills in the story missions.

Lack of story missions. You basically spend 60% of the time recruiting your squad and gaining their loyalty, 30% of the time on side missions, and the main story missions only take up about 10% of the game.
