I had already beaten the game and just dl the return to ostagar content. Eventually i got the quest to go to denerim to kill the orlisian lady that was hunting her down but cant go their. Is it impossible to go back to denerim to do the quest if i have already finished the game?

Yes. After finishing the game, all you have access to is DLC - and the expansion when it arrives.
If there are quests you want to do, do them before heading off to Redcliffe. I try to finish most everything before the Landsmeet that it is possible to do.

actually, you could go back to a previous save in that game, then go to denerim. But try and choose one close to landsmeet, and speak to leliana until you get her quest.
