ME1 had a .ini file, so after I've playing through this game and wanting to play in a "different" way, yes hard mode is there there and upping the difficulty level is fun, but the satisfaction of personalizing the experience even more just had me wondering if it's possible with ME2?

It is, i read about it on gamefaqs somewhere but i dont really remember what to do beacause i never really enjoyed cheating in ME.

Why do self proclaimed non-cheaters feel the need to let everyone know how they don't cheat and also that you shouldn't cheat. It is a single player game. Perhaps if you feel so strongly about how someone else should experience the game that you need to tell them not to cheat when they didn't ask for such advice you should simply refrain from replying at all.



I cheated on my FIRST play through to give myself more abilities than I would have otherwise had because I don't want to wait until the end of the game to enjoy them like most games. It's my game and I will play it the way I want because I paid my money for it. Thanks!

I don't care if people cheat, I just said I don't remember because I didnt try it, people like to play the game differently and that is fine. Was just trying to state that yes, it exists and you can look it up if you want.

Why on earth would you play insanity with cheats rather than normal/hardcore without cheats? If insanity is too hard for you (really it's not that hard) then don't play on insanity.

Currently just finished the Collector's baseship on Insanity, it was awesome. I enjoy the challange, the reward from beating a mission is a good feeling.

So its called Cheat your way through the game Achievement? People who cheat are really pathetic. (my opinion only)

Are you that bored/lonely that you refresh the forum listing to see when someone makes a post just so you can say something? What did you expect to find in this thread? Gameplay tips for Vanguards on Insanity? LOL - You saw the heading and thought "Awesome I get to say something stupid and rile up the OP and others who genuinely want to read it". It's people like you that give me a sense of genetic superiority. You couldn't even get your two brain cells to come up with a semi-viable argument for that statement.

I apologize if you are genuinely mentally handicapped. It's a very strong possibility given your post.


EDIT: I was doing a Cerberus mission on some planet, after the landing cutscene we had to wipe out a LOT of Blue Suns mercs who came out to greet us.  The last guy I charged, and punched/shot him to finish him. I was standing on his corpse at the moment he despawned (body disappeared) and consequently was left standing in the air. I couldn't move and I was thinking "if only I could press ` to bring up the console and type fly I would be fine". But no, I had to restart the level.

It's not even all about cheats. I used the .ini file from ME1 to turn on friendly fire.  In games with a powerful developer console (think Valve or Bethesda games), I use it to fix bugs.

And if someone wants to cheat, then it's rather stupid of you to dictate how they play a single player game.

This is discussion board, in case you have not noticed, some people think cheating is fine, some don't. My opinion might sound stupid to you, and thats fine, but you clearly cannot accept that my opinion is different than yours, so you think your uber post is gonna do anything. Bravo!

Probably because i remember its a game that doesnt effect anything...

Oh, those kind of situations I agree with, I've had that happen to myself a few times and it was damn frustrating needing to restart. My comment was towards taking all the challenge out of the game completely.

That's a strange concept, usually when faced with a tough challenge the feeling of overcoming that challenge feels good.. everyone is different though I suppose.

I just finished Tali's recruit mission on Insanity, the final room with the giant Geth tank was a huge challange to overcome, but after a few tries I finally got it and learned some tips to beating it more efficiently. Clear the main portion of Geth surrounding the starting point while avoiding the tanks attacks, once clear move to the left side and continue to fight off Geth trying to cross the bridge, move up to the other side of the bridge then cross across the middle while avoiding the tank, move up the bridge ramp till you find ammo + medi-gel waiting for you. At this point you are safe from the tanks damage while you cut down some of the Geth troops moving in on you, once clear you have a clear view to start chipping away at the tank, once the tank is dead the rest of the Geth despawn.

Another tip I've noticed as an Infiltrator, whenever faced against an enemy with a flamethrower, aim for the gas packs mounted on their back, if you are successful you'll see a stream of fire on the enemies back, a few seconds later he will explode and do significant damage to anything around him.

I used one of the coalesced.ini "cheats" in order to get rid of the ammo system. (flagged infinite ammo for all player weapons) I like Mass Effect 1's ammo system, thank you very much.

God forbid you are required to conserve your ammo Course some people just like an easier game, running around with infinite sniper ammo would just seem so bland.

There are a couple of .ini editors in the tech support thread that allows you to tweak a few settings here and there. Or visit gamefaqs ME2 board to look for some 'modded' files.



On a side note, I'm appalled at how uncivilized these forums can be compared to the original Bioware forums.
