Come on Bioware seriously, with what you made possible in Dragon Age you are going to run away and be forced to be traditional and boring. For shame.

Having 2 aliens as romance options isn't really traditional or boring; quite poignant considering you're on a Cerberus ship. Surprised the crew don't mutiny over it. Mordin romance would have been hilarious though. He'd probably give you a graphic run-down on everything constantly.

Want to know what would have made my gay FemShep happy?

Not being forced to flirt with Jacob every time I talked to him, practically shoving the romance down my throat whether or not I wanted anything to do with this lousy character.

Just to set the record straight on Asari, they are not asexual, asexual defines a creature that can reproduce with out a partner. The "stages" of an Asari's life have nothing to do with their ability to have children or relationship's. The bartender's on Illium is a Patriarch, show's an interest in Shep, and was born to a Krogan and an Asari who was already a Patriarch when she was born.

I am absolutely ecstatic with the love interests for female shepard because one of them is Garrus.

Sorry if some others don't agree, but for the record... Bioware has made A. Neurone a happy camper in that department. It was quite a pleasant surprise for me!

Wow, I must be the only person on here who liked Jacob. It's nice having a relatively normal person as a LI. He wasn't dripping with drama or personal angst, till the Loyalty Mission about his dad, and even then, I thought he handled it well. His "loyal but skeptical" attitude mirrored my FemShep's own. They got along very well.

I mean, Garrus is more friend than LI. Thane is awesome, but he's dying. I was never a big fan of doomed romances. Jack is intriguing personality-wise, but I find her character design to be repulsive (excessive body art and shaved heads are pretty much two of my biggest turn-offs). Samara has possibilities, but I dated an asari in ME1. Look how that turned out. ;)

Maybe I would have liked him better if I was not playing FemShep, or if my FemShep would have had any interest at all in him.

But who ever directed that scene for the voice acter's made her sound all seductive when ever you talk to him, and the character model was practicly ready to hop up on the table she was leaning on and spread her legs, pissed me off so damn much I never talked to him again about anything outside of what was required.

Playing a female Shepard is terrible in ME2, the love interest choice are terrible. Jacob is boring and too nice, Garrus has a half blown up face and too much of a friend, and Thane is awesome and cool but I'll pass on mating with a half fish, half lizard. Looks like hell raiser. Why couldnt I get Jack, Miranda, or Tali. I really wanted Tali. Come on Bioware seriously, with what you made possible in Dragon Age you are going to run away and be forced to be traditional and boring. For shame.

WHAT?!!  Jacob is hawtness!!! What a bod and much less emo than Kaiden.  Though I hear you about the lack of female options.  Wished my paragon fem Shep could have romanced Miranda.

And thank gawd that at the very least we didn't get Dragon Age undies in ME2!

I think the biggest issue is just that people are mad their femsheps didn't get male-shep's romances, and so feel cheated... Making this a very cleverly disguised gaymance threat. *Ponders*

Erm.

So basically Female Shepard's LI options sucks because there are no lesbian option?

Too bad for you. Shepard is straight (if we skip the obvious fact that if Liara were human, it would basically be a lesbian option).

Jacob is not a bad option. Human and nice. Yeah, somewhat basic, I'll give you that. Or you can reserve yourself for some of the other LI's. Or not, you can whish for another LI. But don't cover your whish for a homosexual relationship with the male LI being boring. Too transparent.

I wanted Ashley in the first game. Not that I liked her she was just the best of any them (thinking Tali to be unobtainable) but couldn't have her.

I wanted Miranda in this game despite that I'd perfer her blonde/super awesome outfit look. Couldn't have her either. Went for the Kelly thing so that's something at least,no real credit for it though.

I made an expendable male Shep (didn't care if he lived through this game, skipped sidequests,no other relationships or deep convos) and got Ashley and Miranda.

I think female players got screwed with ME1 love interests since we had to choose between a girl and a boring guy. A lot of players wanted Garrus as an LI (as mentioned in MANY interviews) and they gave him to us. Not to mention we get Thane as well who has such a sensational romance albeit there could have been a bit more in the end. Perhaps this is because I like to keep my femshep straight and honestly the ME2 choices for femshep are wonderful if only because we finally have more MEN. I'm sure most if not nearly all the people on this thread are male players who wanted a lesbian romance (of course there are a few females as well, but that percentage probably doesn't come as close to matching up to the guys here). Speaking as a female player who supported the Garrus romance option and adores the Thane one, ME2 catered more towards it's straight female fanbase in this game and I couldn't be happier. Of course, I do agree that Mass Effect is all about options and probably should have a lesbian/gay LI (it did surprise me that there weren't really any in this game) in the future. Anyway, those are my thoughts and I'm glad I got the LI's we have the only thing left to contemplate is if they'll play a decent role in ME3.

At least they are male (Liara is just so....feminine) and ugly depends on what you think. Perhaps it is because i'm an artist and I find the design for these alien beings so intriguing, how could I not like them? Besides I could say the same for Tali, at least Thane has five fingers and normal legs.

The problem on my part is that they are all essentially the same personality. They're all soldiers/killers and for my female Shepards I don't want her to have that in her life. She is surrounded by that all day, she wouldn't want to bring it home with her. Male Shepard at least has Tali for variety.

The other problem is that BioWare seem want you to change your character's sexual orientation in ME2.  In ME1 they gave you the option of having your female Shepard be attracted to females.  In ME2 this seems to be thrown out the window as female Shepard flirts with Jacob the instant she talks to him on the Normandy which a) makes your character a cheat and B) changes their sexual orientation without you even being given a choice about it.

That you can't have a F/F Shepard romance actually makes her quite a tragic character in ME2.  You ask express your feelings to Samara but she turns your down, and you and Tali can say you would like to be intimate wih each other but it is never realised. :(

Still I postulate it's more "unnatural" than finding a human of your own gender attractive. I mean, fish dude? Really? Come on, BioWare. Sure the alien designs aren't bad, doesn't mean you have to have romances with them though.

But anyway, this is not only about the options, it's also about the implementation. And as I said, even if you do like the chance to have a romance with Garrus, the whole thing is just badly written, has too little dialogue and feels very forced (probably because it is, since BioWare apparently caved in to the screaming).

It isn't just the designs, I do actually like the characters (Garrus has history from ME1 and I've always thought of him as a second in command, while Thane is an old fashioned romantic with an intriguing backstory). When I have to design female aliens I usually have to keep in mind that men like curves, breasts, and a pretty/interesting face (then tweak the rest) women tend to, not always but often, focus more on the fact that at least he is generally male and has a pretty cool aspect about it him (whether it be the voice or personality or whatever). I could just as easily say it isn't healthy to think that a blue female with tentacles coming out of her brain is attractive, albeit she looks very humanoid but different genders tend to have different tastes (of course this is not always the case but I am mostly referring to what my friend, who is a psychologist, has spoken about sexuality and what people tend to be attracted to).

I don't think I can bring my femshep to be with anyone other than Thane (who is more lizard like just to say) simply because I found his character compelling, design to be very pleasing to look at (mancleavage helps ^_^), and overall just a sweet character. I suupose the only thing I can add to this "interest" is that think of all the times we see a male character get with a hot alien chick (who often has a different skin tone and sometimes even no hair on her head), but rarely ever seen the female character with a male alien by her side against  all odds; I thank bioware tremendously for giving us the OPTION to get a full mass effect/star trek expereince simply by allowing us to be with male aliens (as always romances do not define ME but are clearly difficult to ignore).

It may seem weird, hell it is weird, but men got Tali, whose romance turned out great, and even though we got Garrus, Thane's moments tend to be more satisfying (lastly he is the most humanoid alien next to the asari, so I don't get why dudes get werided out by this when I've never seen female players go on these forums to ask constantly why you would like Tali or Liara. We accept it even though we don't understand it, that is that).

Abnormality was dropped in 1973, I'm pretty sure it won't be picked up anytime in the near (or far) future.
Not that it matters, because the sexual appetites of the followers plays such a minor role that it shouldn't matter if the developers make them gay, straight, curious or big, stupid jelly fish.

First: Sorry for my english! *shame* :?

I want a romance with a good lookin "human-like", male person. I LOVE Garrus but he is nothing for a romance (he is a lizard!). I like Thane, but he is a fish! And Jacob? Sorry: This boy is boring, bureaucratic and UGLY! His nostrils are bigger than his eyes, he's got acne and his jaw looks like he's got mumps. And his body is SO exaggerated .....

A romance has always something to do with sex. I LOVE aliens, but I don't want to have sex with EVERY species. And PLEASE stop telling the female player they should have a lesbian romance. I'm hetero and I want a man! This stupid male "lesbian-porn-dreams" sucks really!

@Bioware
You have a lot of female fans, a lot of female players: WHY do you treat us like second class citizens?
Where is the person who made the romances (for females) for Dragon Age? Great job! Please let him / her make the romances for females in Mass Effect, too.
A user in our ME forum wrote: Bioware dit not made a special romance companion for females! They made all the NPC and than they looked: "Hey, whitch one could be a love interest for females?" And so they have taken the NPC who COULD work.

The romances for females in Mass Effect 2 are SO bad that I (hetero female) really feel offended.

PS: If a male player wants to have a good looking female romance, thats normal. But whan a female wants to have a good looking man, she ist shallow?

I have to agree with the OP. So, who can we women romance? A fish, a lizard and a boring, BORING person. Who has a bajillion abs, though.
The Garrus romance is sweet and adorable, but Garrus is too much of a friend of my fem!Shepard for me to consider him something other than a buddy. And the sex scene - bumping foreheads, REALLY? Even Tali, who wears a full body suit gets a better sex scene. Also, the way you get to the romance is so pathetic it's funny. It's basicly
"So, me and that turian girl had sex..."
"Hey Garrus, lets have sex!"
...No.

Thane is made of awesomeness, but he's going to die in a year. No cure. No thanks. I know it adds to the drama, but...no.
About Jacob...well, the flirting is way too forced. I just want to talk friendly with him but NOOOO, my Shepard starts talking in that cheezy flirty voice that sounds so extremely unrealistic. Like it's coming out of a bad porn movie. Did you order a double pepperoni, madam? Also, Jacob is boring. Just like Kaidan before him.

Dragon Age had much better romances - the characters were more interesting and the romance itself was handled better. Seriously, if a woman has to choose between Alistair and Jacob, mister look-at-my-bajillion-abs is going home.
