Male Shepard is not good enough for Tali.
Oh please. With a couple minor exceptions, the dialogue of Male and Female Shepards is exactly the same. So the only real basis on which to say either gender of Shepard is "better" than the other is if you are so superficial that all you care about is the sound of the character's voice.

As far as LIs go: Thane > Garrus >>> Tali >>>Jacob >>>>>>>> Miranda > Jack
FemSheps got way better LIs overall. The only MaleShep one that's any decent is Tali.
All a question of taste. I would say that as far as the quality of the LIs goes, it would be Tali and Jack in a tie for first, followed by Miranda, followed by Garrus and Thane in no particular order, and Jacob not even getting an honorable mention.

Yeah, I have to agree. "Male Shepard is not good enough for Tali".... that sounds really élitist. That's like me saying "Female Shepard isn't good enough for Thrane/Garrus/Kaidan". You want to turn a character gay or bi because you think their opposite gender isn't good enough for them? Issues, serious issues, with tar and brushes.
Unless what you said was a joke and you're just yanking our chains. In which case, it was poorly done.

I find the title to just be misleading myself but I already explained that.jinrsx wrote...
Clever title, and a bit vulgar. I don't find the love interest options very intriguing but I am glad that there are options. There are three exclusive love interests, one available for both, and the options to remain loyal for the first games love interest, rather than the one + one of the only first game. The only way to make everyone happy is have every npc as an available a harem option for Shepard. But Jacob isn't really fond of that.
I would be upset at the harem everyone is bi option it really makes the characters come off as fake then and just trophies to be thrown in bed. If people actually cared as much as they say they do about these characters they could accept that as of right now their orientations are as written no matter what you feel or think they should be they are not. If Kelly Chambers isn't telling my male Shepard that Garrus could be interested and she isn't telling your female Shepard that Tali could be interested that is a BIG flag right there.
Maybe it will be in ME3, but I am not going to hold my breath they seem very clear on not doing same sex relationships unless it is an asari, which still has left men in without a same sex option. This is one of my main points why I am still against making people bi arbitrarily, because it's the vocal minority of "female" players that want others females like they did something wrong because women are somehow more prone to be than homosexual than men. That seems laughable, an acceptable video game trope but just laughable.
If you don't agree with me I can understand but I do not think every character needs to tell you explicitly their sexual orientation, it's pretty insulting if they should, I mean if you really just want a same sex relationship you can latch onto than try to support a DLC a new character something that makes more sense and adds NEW content for everyone and not just the extra 4-7 minutes of content you want for yourself.
Finally just because you think Tali is the right choice others will disagree and say Miranda is a better choice, or Jack... and how are they more wrong than you?

Even without romances though it would be really nice to see more friendly conversation options with npcs as others have said rather than having apparant friendships put onto a hold loop because the npc is either 1) a romance option for male Shep or 2) because I rejected a romance with them, that's what i really find disappointing.

I'd be all for DLC with new gay/bi characters for both genders and i think thats a great idea. Also, while i don't necessarily need to be told an npc's orientation it would have been nice to be able to declare mine. I really would have liked the option to tell Kaiden and Jacob i don't swing their way and just have friendly conversations with them. Being forced to flirt with Jacob in particular is basically a very creepy, cringe worthy experience and i'm sure he'd be a nice guy and good friend without that but it seriously turns me off talking to him.
As would i.
And yes, the whole "forced" Jacob sex-up thing was hideous, annoying, AGHHHH all rolled into one. that being said it really was too bad i had to purposefully avoid him since i found his story and loyalty mission to be quite enjoyable. his lyalty mission was like Apocalypse Now meets Lord of Flies in a sci fi setting.

Male Shepard is an emotionless bore who could never return Tali's feelings.
Female Shepard sounds like she geniunely cares for her friends.

It doesn't make sense, no...doesn't really help their position either. They should be arguing for character-based equality, saying one deserves more than the other is just going to lead to trouble.
Though I fully agree with anyone who says that they can't take Meer seriously in intimate scenes.

That's because it was in the first game and the absence is glaringly obvious because of it. If it hadn't no one would have cared.
I bet you, dollars to donuts, even if it weren't in the first game people would still be asking for it. I've been on BioWare forums long enough to not expect otherwise.
The thing is (and this might be addressed somewhere between the quoted post and this reply), Kaiden and Ashley were meant to be available to both MaleShep and FemShep in the first game. Check the hyperlinks for Resources 1 & 2 at masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Romance. The devs took time to code it and the dialogue was recorded. Why it wasn't implemented in the final build is a question that has not been (to my knowledge) answered.
To me, the concept is that the understanding of "human" sexuality would have evolved in roughly a century and a half. Emotional love is not something we control, nor fully understand. The ability to love without discrimination of gender/ethnicity/religion is a sign of enlightenment. Physical love is an entirely different matter. Personally, if you enjoy sex with someone of the opposite and/or same gender, do what feels good. I am not sexually attracted to men; never have been. Being one myself, it classifies me as "straight." I have had a guy stick his tongue down my throat, and, while not aroused in the slightest, he was a much better kisser than some of the women I have made out with (and better than I was, prior to that experience).
I ran all four scenarios in ME1 (although I can still live without the MaleShep "codpieces" in the armor). MaleShep was fine with Ashley or Liara (romantic tones in both); FemShep was better with Liara (Kaiden was a closed-off *******, and was worse after you rode him like a pony).
For ME2, options for either gender feel forced.
MaleShep: Jack should be available only to Renegades (she shouldn't buy your nice guy routine after being abused that much). Tali is the Paragon's dream girl (she's not risking her life for someone who doesn't respect it). Miranda should NOT be an option (too proud and walled off). Kelly should be available before the Reaper IFF (which can heighten the possible loss). Hell, Dr. Chakwas makes more sense than Miranda.
FemShep: I don't care for the pity **** you can give Thane - it cheapens his character too much. Garrus makes sense in the same vein as Tali, as a "forbidden fruit" carry over from ME1 (again, admiration and Paragon). Jack should be available (Renegade Bad Grrrls' Club). Jacob is slightly deeper cardboard than Kaiden, and really should NOT be available if you complete his Loyalty mission (how are you any better than his father at that point). That, and how is he going to look at you without picturing the dessicated corpse they stitched back together? Kelly - see MaleShep.
Okay, I'm going to put my soapbox away now. I still have to try and get through my Veteran playthrough before I go for Insanity.

Meer seems to do a good job on renegade dialog and anger emotion's, but he falls flat and is completely unbelievable any time he is doing anything romantic or emotional.

the inherent awesomeness that is lesbians in space aside?
billy boy (that's you kirk) has once again said something i agree with whole heartedly.
my femshep really seems to care about her people. watching maleshep romance tali on youtube, all i saw was a douche trying to get in her pants
she's all like "i have to figure out how to make this work without getting sick"
and he's all like "well, you best get on it then, cause this man ain't waiting all day!"

Seriously presenting an opinion as fact is pretty dumb.
Also being a lesbian is no more awesome than being not a lesbian. Personally lesbians never did it for me and I am a straight male.

1) in my world i am a man.
2) i said when i watched the romance, male shepherd appeared to me to be kinda a douche. that IS an opinion. i never stated that was fact
3) being a lesbian IS in fact awesome, and i don't know what upsets me more, the fact that i can't be one, or the fact that you don't like them.

But that is me. Just because I am not a fan of what she did in ME1 or ME2 and you are does not make either one of us wrong or right.
Which is why the stance one gender is better than the other is kind of dumb but this is the internet.
