Miranda is full of herself = not apealing, Tali is like that best friend you've know all your life, and Jack has some poise of interest but I would never be more than a friend to a person like her.

You clearly haven't played Miranda's loyalty mission, neither have you tried to romance her with a male Shepard or most likely you didn't even talk to her at all. If you talk to her once in a while, do her loyalty mission and romance her if you're a man, you should know better. Miranda is NOT full of herself.

I talked to her til she had nothing more to say and did her loyalty mission. She constantly talks about how she was built for perfection and thats all. This creates no interest for me to even try talking to her with a male shep.

is shep male or female according to canon?
easy answer: both. it's YOU'R GAME. things you do in the first influence the second, and hopefully the third, just as things in the second will influence the third. that means who's alive, who's dead, everything.
arguing that shep MUST be male or MUST be female is pointless. why not argue about whether shep is earth born or a spacer? a biotic or soldier? war hero or sole survivor?

MY shep is female because i prefer Hale's voice acting. She's into girls because i didn't want to have steamy sex with Kaiden. simple as that. if your shep is different, good for you! have a cookie.

this thread is about love interests, or lack thereof, and how some gamers think femshep got the short end of the stick. that's all.
some people say that LIs shouldn't even be in the game, that they're unimportant extra. that's rubbish. an rpg is a ROLE PLAYING game. it tells a story through the medium of a cast of characters, and how they interact with the world around them, as well as with each other.
as with any story, anything that can pull you, the viewer/reader/gamer in further, emotionally, only makes the story better. because the more emotional attachment you have to the story, the more you care about it, how it started, how it will end, and what will happen to the people you meet along the way.
that means that seeing Garrus again is like seeing an old friend. i didn't use him much in ME1, but when i saw it was him in ME2 i laughed, toasted the screen with my drink, and, aloud, asked him how he's been.
it's because of the characters we meet in the game that we like it so much. that's why in game relationships, or even romances, are important.
do they effect the plot? maybe not. but i feel the game would be less without them.

and i want my femshep to totally nail Tali.

I felt the same way in ME1. Kaiden was a nerd and Liara a woman. Male Shepard gets awesome women. Female Shepard gets crap. I decided that the writers are nerds and they are living out their dreams with female shepard wanting the nerd in both ME1 and ME2.

thane ain't so bad. I chose him for my fem shepard because garrus seems uncomfortable (paragon choices keep the relationship friend zone.) thane is pretty badass though. jacob I jsut haven't gotten around to that path.

But the OP isn't saying that, the OP wants a female + female relationship how is that making female Shepard's chances better than male Shepard when male Shepard has no same sex relationship? I mean does that mean that women have a natural inclination to homosexuality or bisexuality?

As far as I want my female Shepard to bang [token female character] get over it it isn't happening any more so than my male Shepard should be able to bang [token male] character.

This is why I get annoyed at the female Shepard players clamoring for same sex romances, because it isn't about equality just how "hot" it would be.

I've made comments based on my opinions of the LI's in ME2. They are just my opinions and I fall back to the statement that if you chose not to pursue an LI in ME2 I wish their would have been a quick option before the last scene.

An example would be:
-Chose to be alone in the captains quarters.
-Have a drink and remember good times with Jeff.
-Go to the crew deck and have a drink with the party members that you made into good friends.

As far as interesting people go on the ship, I prefer people like Joker, Kelly, Gabby and her buddy whom I forget his name, and EDI. I just can't find a connection to any of the crew we can really talk to as being more than friend but so little is said with some of the other non-important members of the crew that they still create a feeling of "I'd like to know you better".

So...basically the OP is upset that the only same-sex option is Kelly? If it bothers you so much, roll a Shepard of a different gender and go after the one you want. I mean heck, I did that with a FemShep so I could romance Garrus. Not exactly what I'd hoped for (being a gay male Garrus fanboi), but I'll take that over nothing at all. Besides, the romance is cute enough I can deal with being the wrong gender.

Can we romance the Ardent Yashi? (Don't even know how to spell that)

Because a short romance beats any option available, again that's my opinion don't pull it apart without understanding where I'm coming from.

*sigh*

I've never been part of a thread where I felt the need to work so hard to defend a personal opinion.

My Femme-Shep (I've played through with both) certainly failed in the new-romance stakes, but I actually liked that. The fact that there could then be a reconciliation in ME3 would be icing on the cake... ME2 could then be the dark middle-chapter, and ME3 could then really end with you saving the universe and sweeping your outer-space-significant-other back off their feet. That I could live with :)

Though true, I do think the female Shepards are a maybe little short-changed...

Why do you people keep using Asari as examples? They're asexual.

Ignorance is bliss, I suppose.

The asari are an all-female race. Says so in the codex, says so in the game dialogue. Pretty simple.

A response to an older post. Anyway... I stumbled on this today in the codex. Even the asexual argument is not true. In the secondary codex entries under "Asari: Biology" you'll find: "Although the asari have one gender, they are not asexual."

Of course that is obvious if you talk to Liara long enough. ;)
