No, Shepard falling in love makes her more human. I'm sorry you can't tell sex from love, you should probably see someone about that.

I would retort but my beliefs are just wayyyyy to different to not seem brash or cold, so...I'll just say as bad a BW handles the roamancs, how cna you tell it's love? All they do are talk bang once.

I appreciate that bioware believes in diversity in their characters and those characters' relationships..doesn't happen in a lot of rpgs other than the assorted elves, dwarfs, trolls, etc. Given the estimated number of gay/lesbian people in the general population today...according to wikipedia at least..how is the number in mass effect somehow deficient? Sounds like more of a complaint that some people didn't get to romance the character they wanted. That is an entirely different issue and nothing to do with the fair representation of gay/lesbian characters.

Because the most populous species in the galaxy is universally female in physical appearance, is universally bi, and is not a romance option.

You're right(completely non snarky) I did genuinely misspeak. What it should have said is

"If it wasn't in the first game and wasn't made by Bioware no one would care."

Yeah, that's probably the truth of the matter.

I guess them making better LI's than ME1 just wasn't enough. It's never enough, it seems....

It would have been fine if Liara hadn't been axed from the game. And none of the LI's in the first game had children/terminal diseases/disfigurement/deepseated emotional trauma they haven't come to peace with yet.

Tali was basically tacked on b/c of fanboys, and Jack was a cluster**** of a cliches and archtypes...Seriously male sheperd only had one real LI.

If all they do is bang once then why does anyone care? Because they don't just bang once. If that's the part that stands out to you then you're playing mostly for the sex. I actually don't often watch the actual "love" scene, I just like the preceding dialogue.

I actually had an answer from Bioware's "Evil Chris" during the NFC game broadcast on uStream...but it wasn't the answer we all were looking for. When I asked about a female love interest for Tali'zorah, he replied, "Tali love interest? She loves cupcakes" (Or cookies, can't remember which)

Quite frankly, I was getting an immense urge to strangle him through the camera. When I ask a honest question, I expect a honest answer. Not BS like what Chris gave me.

Edit: I'm the sort of person who expects a respectful answer when I ask a question. That means avoiding tasteless, pointless jokes. Plus, the incident really hurt Bioware's professional reputation in my opinion, because when I ask a question that I consider to be serious and related to "equality", you damn well better answer it honestly, or get the hell out.

The ME2 romances had more dialog, I'll admit, but I don't think the ME2 romances were any more 'emotionally engaging' than the ME1 ones were.  There was just a little bit more.

I think it comes down to different strokes for different folks, I adore the Tali relationship, and I find that fulfilling more so than either option in ME1.  But that is my opinion.

No Female Shepard has three, you just have 0 because you have a particular taste that is not met.

I thoroughly enjoyed the romance with Miranda, more so the dialog and finding out about her past, etc. than The ONS, that was an afterthough and really had nothing to do with it. But I never felt they my Shepherd and Miranda loved each other. The romances just weren't done well enough. And telling someone they play a game for sex is very condescending, and unecessary when you're the one ******** about LI's.

That would have been a spoiler they were not going to say spoilers live during that broadcast.

Never seen it so I will take your word for it, I can't get into my female Shepard.

He has to have more personality than Kaidan though right?

Not really. I think Kaidan had much more personality.
95% of Jacob's romance = him making sure you aren't looking for something serious and refusing to talk about his feelings. If you try to get him to open up and talk he breaks it off very abruptly.

I strongly disagree. About 40% of the time he's playing shy while Shepard teases, the first two talks or so, and then he gets convincingly intimate. I also must say he has one of the most satisfying after game's end conversation of the LI's I've seen. It actually finally feels like it's going somewhere, where-as Garrus just repeats the darn thing he says to let you know he's ready over and over. It's just frustrating.

Also, I don't know. With Garrus and Thane it's just like okay we're cold and then one conversation they're all over each other with a line like... I want you, or pretty much, Let's screw followed by some comic relief and awkward interspecies lingo, which is funny.

I liked Garrus more, don't get me wrong, but I think calling Jacob BORING is a lie. The only thing boring about him is that he's not a taboo alien species.

Then again, I didn't think Kaiden was boring either.

Oh Oh well Male Shepard has three, actually both have 4 if you count Kelly, and both have 5 if you count Morinth...

I did not see the preceding post my apologies.

You've said I play for the sex several times, it's fair games. Besides that I meant you play the ROMANCES for the sex. Not the whole game. My mistake.

It can get tricky with the Asari. Our idea of gender is based on what reproductive role the person can perform, and any Asari can work in either role.

Spoiler or not, I was not happy with seeing female-with-female relationships being marginalized in ME2. I'm not interested in supporting a product that is not willing to step onto hardball territory when it comes to social issues.

Yes...and the asari Samara was a unrequited romance option for males and females because as a matron she has passed the point in her life....so your point was???

Matrons are still sexually active.  Samara turns you down b/c of her Code.

True, but are we not playing humans? Is not the galaxy seen through our eyes?
By our classifications, they would be female since there is quite the strong suggestion that they carry the reproductive egg cells. It would be interesting for the Asari to explain in their own words their beliefs and classifications but... almost every interesting moment where gender roles and classifications can be explored... it's waved away with them calling themselves female.

It think it has less to do with the code and more to do with, I am almost a 1000 years old and sex for fun just does not do it or me anymore.  If I am going to have sexual relations I want it to be real and I am just not looking for that right now.

I don't think the code says anything about sex, well forbidding her from having sex.

I thought she didn't want to risk producing another space vampire and had no interest in pursuing a romantic relationship at that time.
