I don't get why they'd care...

Two years earlier they could have picked it up instead of just allowing
shep to be rebuilt...  You'd think with all that tech they have over the
rest of the galaxy (they located the normandy in stealth mode!) they'd
be able to locate shep before anyone else.

Also, wouldn't they have harvested the normany crew or at least your
squadmates as well?

If what they collected was to build reapers, shouldn't there be a ton of
different types of reaper ships instead of all those space squids?

I mean, space squids couldn't have been that dominant era after era...
How many squids could there have been to create those other ships...

Shepard has always been capable of things most cannot fathom. Its one of those one in a million type of gifts, something that the Reapers noticed and want.

I think they wanted him because he was able to do something they didnt think possible. It is also the reason why they are messing with humans now. Human's have the unlimited potential for growth unlike any other species. Shepard showed them the business and they wanted to study him to see why.

After Joker "frees" EDI to suck all the collectors into space, she declassifies all the Cerberus information. Allowing you to ask all the questions that had blocks on them. It should be under "building the Normandy".

Could it have anything to do with how Shepard was able to use the Prothean Beacons? I could've sworn that it was a big deal that he was able to use them and process any information from them at all.

Yikes. I just went back and checked and discovered that this is NOT what EDI tells you. I guess I made the assumption when she talks about parts being purchased from 1000's of suppliers overseveral years. And Anderson says how Sovereign was salvaged by all sorts of people during the clean up. So yeah, thats a pretty big misinformation act on my part. Sorry.

I am almost 100% certain I heard EDI say that reaper technology was used to build her electronic warfare equipment and that she was still busy analyzing the technology.

Also I played through the game twice with different shepards imported from ME1 and I don't remember EDI saying that the first time...

If you talk to EDI about what she does on the ship after Joker unlocks her, then she can talk about how cerberus salvaged some reaper tech from sovereign and integrated it into the SR2 to give her anti-reaper algorithms or somwthing to that effect.

Who knows what the Lazarus project put in shepard? For all we know, the reapers and collectors are trying to build a human reaper and we already have one running around.
