For the third time, the geth pulse rifle has the same base damage as the avenger. The weapon doesn't have any damage value listed in coalesced.ini, sothe gamefaqs chart author/wiki page dude assumed that it inherited from the base weapon entry. It does not. It inherits from the [SFXGameContent_Inventory.SFXWeapon_AssaultRifle] entry. This is easy to test for anyone with a screen capture utility, you can see that both weapons do the same damage to health. And for people on the PC version you can change the damage value in coalesced.ini and see that both weapons reflect the change.

That makes more sense, actually. The GPR does feel somewhat akin to the Avenger in terms of function.

Hmm... I'm thinking that console gamers would prefer the revenant cos it is a lot harder to do head shots with a controller. Because of its limited ammo and good accuracy, the vindicator is more a head-shot kind of weapon and thus more suited to PC gamers. That aside, revenant is excellent at short to medium range while vindicator is excellent at medium to long range and works wonders with adrenaline rush. Vindicator is also good if you do not want to pop your head out of cover too often, thus minimising your chances to get shot which is quite a problem at hardcore and insane level. Correct me if i'm wrong but i notice that there are more ammo drops at higher difficulties.

I'm a PC player and I would never choose the Vindicator over the Revenant. Because of the damage mechanics, getting more headshots with the Vindicator is not nearly as important as the higher base dps of the Revenant. And the Vindicator is very ammo inefficient which makes it a poor choice on insanity with the buffed enemy defenses.

The Revenant is the soldier special weapon for a reason.

Regardless, the Revenant is an all around better choice for Soldiers than the Widow. If other classes could get the Revenant, it would be better for them too. It's the highest sustained DPS that's not a heavy weapon in the game, and it has the second highest ammo capactiy. People whine "Inaccuracy!" but, especially after the accuracy upgrade, it's not inaccurate at all -- they are just using the weapon at the wrong range. If you want to stay back and pick things off from a distance, use a sniper. If you want to play aggressive, which usually means you'll be in mid-close range, the Revenant becomes death incarnate.

If other classes could get the Revenant they would have a much harder time dealing with the recoil. Soldier gets all that recoil removed when in adrenaline rush, while all the other classes have to deal with it. Would still be great at close range, but I wouldn't be so fast to rank it above the Vindicator on the other classes. Also Claymore does more dps than the Revenant :o

If you can't control the Revenant in extended bursts, the issue isn't the gun, it's you're recoil control skills. I pulse in 4 - 5 shots, so I achieve full auto fire but the reticule resets itself (Old Halo trick with the AR), and my accuracy is very high.

My entire point in this thread is that the Vindicator is just another sniper rifle -- high damage, low ammo. When you realize that the Revenant allows you to get in close and mow down multiple enemies at very high DPS, then you realize how amazing it is. If you like to play the sniper in the back, you could always just roll an Infiltrator. Also, I know the Claymore does more DPS than the Revenant -- it should, it's a fkn Krogan shotgun. However, that's at point-blank, and God forbid you miss. The Revenant has teeth all the way from mid range to close range, and it's not so bad at point-blank either.

With a fully upgraded Widow the improved geth shield and Miranda
in your party you can 2 shot my most hated enemy (Scions) with
headshots. Hard to beat that, honestly. (this is on INSANITY)

I do have the hood from the Dr. Pepper thing though... (+5% damage)

I personally use the Revanant over the Vindicator mostly for the ammo count. The Vindicator can hold its own for the time being since there's literally no recoil and the burst fire can make headshots a breeze (most of my headshots for the achievement came via the Vindicator). But when there are Husks coming at you, the auto-fire of the Revanant becomes more useful. Plus, the accuracy upgrade helps a bit in countering the effects of the recoil but most of the time I either aim down before firing off a full clip or I can sometimes move my cursor downwards to counter the recoil, giving me a fairly straight shot to the target.

A properly wielded Revenant (controlled bursts at range) with AR Accuracy is a force to be reckoned with. And when someone gets close to you, God help them, they're going to get torn apart.

Both have their significant flaws.

Vindicator's ammo capacity is absurdly low
Revenant is a spray n pray machine with some mean recoil

Personally I prefer the geth pulse as my primay all purpose gun.

Theres a thread somewhere that has some guy who peeked at the game mechanics and found out the stats of the gun.

Vindicator is by far, bullet-by-bullet, the strongest Battle Rifle in the game.

The Carnifex hand cannon is the strongest weapon in the game except for the heavyweapons and sniper rifles.

The Geth pulse rifle ranked at the bottom of the AR list, in terms of damage.  Just thought Id let you know

Vindicator damage rating is by burst as it fires in burst. RR is deadly when it come sto damage. On insanity i can burst into a group of husks and take all their armor down with a 1 second burst to each and then use my powers to finish them.  In fact that are parts of the game where you are told to use heavy weapons where I just run up with RR and tear it to pieces.

M-15 Vindicator
damage 36.8
penetration light
rate of fire 900/min
burst rounds 3
burst refire time 0.625
clip size 24
spare ammo 96
Light Machine Guns:
M-76 Revenant
damage 21.3
penetration medium
rate of fire 700/min
clip size 80
spare ammo 480

Oh yeah the accuracy upgrade is a must. and don't bother equipping your allies with revenants because on insanity they can't even they out a vorcha...

The vindicator is the best gun in the game, witch was offset by it's ammo, so u should equip all your allies with it (allies with GPR's or CR, are dead meat)

Barring modding, you can't outfit your allies with Revenants.

What you give your team mates depends on what else they carry. I give Samara and Grunt Vindicators because they're other weapons are short range pieces... whereas Garrus and Zaeed get Avengers because they function better at short range and they have Sniper Rifles for long range stuff.

The only thing I hate about Revenant is the Clown colors. There are no additional versions of the weapons (or even weapon sub-types) so why the hell can't we change color between Avenger Grey, Battle Rifle Brown or Revenant Red!

Yup. It looks like a plastic toy. I ended up using the Vindicator on my modded vanguard primarily because I preferred the precision, but the fact that the Revenant looked absurd was one of the minor reasons why it didn't make the cut.

I havn't tried this yet though, is it possible to get Assault rifle Training in one playthrough on say, a Vanguard, and on a NG+ get a Revenant? I've played through the game 6 times, but NEVER on a NG+.

No, but modding Vanguards to carry ARs from the start of the game allows you to pick the Revenant on the Collector Ship.

The Widow is hands and above the WORST weapon in the game.

I have to admit, this is the first time I've heard a gun being described as the worst in the game because it's really good.

I use the Revenant to deliver suppressing fire. Since ammo for it comes so easily you can fire full auto at an enemy position and once they pop out they're dead.

Well i've been playing Shooters since I picked up an Xbox 360 controller so I find the Revenant can be quite accurate if you burst fire it.

I remember first using it and despite having already used the widow and claymore in previous playthroughs I was still like "Holy Moly this is overpowered as hell." Image IPB

So the Revenant is good in the right hands.

Well when I went through insanity the revnant was much more effective mainly because the enemies were gods by that point in game and were always rushhing you so accuracy didnt matter.

No, it's obviously the best.
