Could not believe how good they are in #2. So much fun. Cloak was great. Got me out of a few trouble spots and also opened up a lot of opportunities.

I'm having most fun with Sentinel on Insanity so far.

Edit: and an Infiltrator with AI Hacking and Dominate as a bonus talent trivializes almost every fight in the game, even on Insanity.

From what the poll show I guess they need to work on the Engineer, then Adept and lastly some work on the Sentinel.
Soldier, Infiltrator and Vanguard are clear favourites here.

But Vanguard is just something else altogether. Especially in rooms where enemies are spread out, such as the final fight on the derelict Collector ship, Charge is a great tactical tool as well as a fun attack and Shockwave is so much better than Throw ever was once you learn how to use it to full effect. I just wish they'd given Vanguards Warp instead of Pull. Pull doesn't synch with Shockwave (since the enemy is in the air) or the shotgun in most cases (since you'll likely be using it on enemies further away). Ah well, there's always Reave.

As an engineer fan I can tell you that engineer is incredible fun, the main problem it has is that it's a hard class to master (vanguard the most difficult).
As a rule of thumb if you find yourself spamming just drones, you are not playing well the engineer, the engineer is a class that needs every single skill you have, once you start using incinerate+cryo+drone+overload+AI hack (dominate) where needed, the fun begins. (Shotgun engineer in insanity is pure win (and almost suicidal))
The engineer's problem is very simple: forum misconceptions. As a matter of facts, the two most spamming classes are the most voted: soldier (adrenaline spam) and infiltrator. At least, I'm very happy that a challenging and fun class like the vanguard it's high regarded amongst the players.
Vanguard and engineer FTW!

Soldier I enjoyed and played first simply because it made most sense to try first. I loved the slowmo but the Vanguard's charge is just amazing. I only encountered a glitch with charge once when I slammed into an enemy and suddenly wound up 14 or so feet up in the air with no where to go lol

I didn't play all that long as an Engineer, but I have to say it felt much better than the old Engineer, but I still found it rather strange that it did not have the Tech Armor instead of Sentinel. Sentinel could have had some sort of barrier considering the Biotics, the Engineer can only have Tech Armor really.

It definitely doesn't help the engineer's case that two of your party members get combat drone, while no one else gets any other the other classes' unique abilities. I have no idea why that happened.
Yeah, Engineer is the only class that doesn't have at least one ability unique to them. It's strange.

I suspect Infiltrator and Soldier will be my favourites, as they were in ME1. Adepts made the game too easy (probably fixed for ME2), Vanguards/Sentinels have some charm, and Engineers are-- sorry to Engineer fans-- just terrible. AI Hacking is nowhere near as useful as it was in ME1, and the combat drone is utterly useless. It saddens me because I really like Tali as a character, but I think she is the worst squad mate for combat situations.

Saying that Tactical Cloak is a disappointing ability boggles my mind. I guess if you're expecting to use it to sneak into a room and shoot people from behind, it would be disappointing, but that's not really what it's for. It's a huge damage boost plus an awesome "oh sh*t" button rolled into one.
Combat drones are not useless; they function primarily as distractions to get enemies to leave cover or stop shooting at you.
