People whined about not being able to continue exploring in the first game. Bioware made it possible to continue exploring in the second game. People whined about being able to continue exploring.

You pass it off as whining. I am confused. It is a plot hole.

It's not a plothole because you're outside of the plot.

Again, it's all these, "bring back in me3" threads that are confusing me. You have a point. Holy crap. If they do all stick around we will have one huge team working under Shepard.

In my playthrough I told Illusive Man to get knotted so perhaps Miranda (Jacob less so) might leave? It's hard to see this game being a platform to set up ME3, because ME1 had a very definite ending. I just had the impression of all the companions there for the Suicide Mission and then voila! Finito! Damn you confusing plot!

I agree, Lucy. I think they should have at least gotten rid of the squad mates that will inevitably leave your crew, anyway; Samara, Zaeed, and Grunt will definitely not be sticking around, and thus, should not be on Normandy in end-game.

Hell, Tali, Liara, and Garrus were still aboard Normandy SR-1 at the beginning of ME2,

The dialogue at Freedom's Progress seems to imply that Tali went back to the Migrant Fleet following Saren's defeat to hand in the information that she'd found on the Geth (assuming that you gave it to her).

But that's not really important.

The reason for letting you play around with the full team on the new Normandy seems self-evident enough.  In ME1, you couldn't do that.  The game ended - permanently - when you defeated Saren.  Then 'Bring Down the Sky' was released, and people realized that they couldn't play the new content on their old characters without going back to a much earlier save.

Oops...

It's much simpler for Bioware to simply allow the gameplay to continue.  Then when piece of DLC catches your eye you can jump right into it without having to revert to a much earlier save.

People like you over analyze the game. Look, you help Cerberus find out why the Collectors are taking humans. You help complete the mission, only to find out they made a human-reaper. You kill it and it's the end of the game. Now, Bioware has another game to come out with (ME 3) and people like you are complaining about things likely to be explained in ME 3. So shut up and play the game.

Something I also noticed (and laughed at) was the end game talk with Jacob. They didn't bother erasing out his breaths and mouth clicks. Ha!

I guess I would say that the time line after the suicide mission essentially becomes static or "in limbo" until ME3. Everything you do from then on is essentially taking place in an arbitrarily short amount of time, and thus, it makes sense that your crew would still be tagging along with you.

When you play ME3, it will likely be fully explained exactly what happened to your crew mates immediately following ME2. Being allowed to continue playing after the suicide mission is most likely just a favor to the fans, and a convenient way to deliver DLC. However, because everything after the suicide mission takes place in an arbitrary/undefined amount of time, it doesn't really poke any holes in the plot for me. Welcome to limbo.

I noticed that sometimes when you were done using the galaxy map the song still played and when you used the galaxy map again it played twice.

its not really a plothole, just a plot....end. its like DAO, you can continue your game after the end to finish quests and play dlc. since i doubt the import would consider the order of what you completed, its not there for plot, but so you dont have to make a new game to play new dlc. i was surprised they had any new dialouge really; ME3 will fill in the gap you want (or dlc).

That sums it up what I wanted to know nicely. Thanks, Master.

Also, Gmartin chill out

Hrm, I wondered that but I can imagine that Samara and Zaeed especially would probably want to leave, don't you think?

i remember a conversation i had with samara toward the end and she said something like "she'd come back to help shepard whenever he needed it"  or something along those lines, so i can see why she'd stay.  zaeed, i dunno.  it's possible that he hasn't had another contract yet, maybe he doesn't feel he did enough(i didn't use him except for his layalty mission hahaah) or he just wants to stay, dunno, don't care.  i'm just glad they allowed me to explore more at the end.Image IPB

If ya wanna talk plot holes then how does the Normandy get repaired so quickly after escaping the Collector base? Image IPB

Joker plugged in the overlord. Now get back to calculating pi.

Plus, the collectors were bent on capturing the crew, if the blasted a hole in the hull then the crew dies. And they lose captives. Im pretty sure they just shot up the engines then boarded. Then EDI did the rest.

Anyone else have this feeling that EDI is going to screw you over in ME 3?

I dunno. She seemed genuine when she said she was part of the crew. For an AI she has a lot of heart.

Samara says she's staying.  You're Grunt's Battlemaster:  he's not going anywhere unless perhaps you replace him with Wrex.

ME3 is a ways into the future, and some characters may disappear by then, but there's no reason they shouldn't be around for the wind-down after the Collector mission.  Miranda, btw, tells TIM to shove it if you've done her loyalty mission and blow up the base, so she's with you too.

If this crew gets the boot for yet another crew in ME3 I will not be happy. The point of this game was to get a crew and earn their trust. If the entire point of this game is undermined in ME3, it will simply cheapen the entire experience. Obviously one or two people departing wouldn't be the end of the world (Zaeed's contract is up, Legion needs to get back to his people, Jack gets restless, etc.) but the key people should stay. And Thane, simply because he's neat
