how does saving the council affect ME2?

So, my question is, how does saving the council affect the rampant anti-humanism in the galaxy? Do people like, or at least tolerate, humans? Or is there some lame thing that humans did that makes everyone hate us still?

EDIT: I think that in Mass Effect 3 they will really make a difference though.

What actually happened for you when you didnt save the council? What happened when you visited anderson or udina?

The council even agrees to meet you and re-instate your specter status.

Okay, so my current Soldier Shep let the council die (Whatever it takes to get the job done, just like on Torfan). He was also the basis for both my current ME2 playthrouhgs (1 and game+), and it's gonna be awhile before I start my third playthrough, as I actually have to make a playthrough of ME1 first.

Not really, they still hate humanity, but its more subtle, ( they still see humans getting the seat too soon) when you vist the citadel the council calls you insane and says that the reapers are a thing from you imagination. You can also hear on the news about the humans asking the council for help with the missing colonies and are told that its a human problem.
Also the turian from thanes quest still runs as anti-human, I rather prefer the council killed play(thats my main) because atleast you know whats what, the other way they still hate you but its vailed in crap.

Aliens and humans certainly have much better relations when you save the council instead of killing them.

Thats bull****, they call you insane and the specter status counts for nothing, they even tell you that since you're going to the terminus systems where it means nothing. Also the gesture is insulting, is more a pat on the head and a kick in the ass so they dont have to hear from you again.
BTW you get your specter status eather way, if you killed the council Anderson gives it to you, and from him it actually matters.

Even Anderson admits it was useless, I told them where to shove it, less red tape to stop me in ME3, I wont save their asses again, especialy that sarcastic turian.Landline wrote...

The council are still pretty much jackasses like they were in the first game and they don't do much in the second game.

I should start by saying I appointed Anderson for the new council after I greased the old one.
Anyway, a few things happen. One is that when you visit anderson the council refuses to see you (they sink you will only side with humans, and for some reason that means they can't meet with an ex-dead spector who saved the ****g galaxy). The other is that a large majority of other aliens dislike humans.
Examples:
1) A news brief says that the turians are no longer limiting their dreadnaught numbers to that one convention.
2) Another news brief talks about how the disappearing human colonies might be caused by terrorists from the other races who "lost" power. The response is that "Human seized power, it's their responsibility now."
3) C-sec security is much gestapo like, mostly lead by humans. They won't let many races carry guns on the citadel proper (Not the warehouse areas). Many people whine about this.
4) Numerous non-humans whine about humans when you talk to them.

Well that sucks. I guess Bioware was too lazy to make the consequences for the "major" choice not so major. Lame.

I hope in ME3 we get the option to "save the council (again)," "let them all die," and "save anderson, and laugh as the others get goofied for an aborted fetus of a T-800."
They would SOOO deserve that last option.

As my character said: "No point in burning down bridges."
I got a different experience from you, I chose Udina as the head of the new council when I killed the councile, you don't get specter statuse that way.

I took Legion and all I got was the Salarian saying "the word of your trophy is suspect". Didn't sound like they'd changed their mind on anything.Azazelbishop wrote...

very few people are seeing the bigger picture. if you save the council humanity as a whole gains great respect on litrally a freaking galactic scale. Theortically and hopefully in ME3 this has countless ramafications.
Just because this chapter of the story didn't look to close at the outcomes of that choice doesn't mean the next won't.
Bear in mind your going to have to unite the galaxy to fight the reapers having the galaxy respect your kind is going to come in a tad handy.

dude, if thats true bio rule on a whole new level for me, how mind bendingly deep is that, you can convince the council the reaper threat is real but the price is sacrificing some of your crew's lives because you don't head straight through the relay.
edit: eeeh just remembered at the end joker hands you a datapad with what we can assume is evidence, anyways so i think i stick with saving my crew.

Or you could pit them against one another to gain supreme rule in the end. Think of it as either creating the Empire or the Federation, with both options likely to be equally balanced in the end leaving it up to personal preference, and not necessity, to make the final decision.
