I have a really nagging question-- why don't the Wardens employ guerilla/subversive tactics with the darkspawn?

My theory runs like this: the Joining makes Wardens essentially like darkspawn, but the Taint doesn't completely corrupt them for 30 years because of the lyrium and magic or whatever, right?

So why can't they just sort of graft themselves onto the body of the Darkspawn horde and eventually make their way to the Archdemon and kill it? It'd be suicide, but-- well, it's suicide anyway. And it's been shown that the darkspawn essentially break and run when the Archdemon died.

I understand why it's not a tactic initially-- politics and tradition and so on, but once the Wardens are dead and you are faced with a death by Darkspawn or death by fallout from a bloody coup option, why would you go to all the trouble of recruiting armies from the repressed and downtrodden when you could just sort of... infiltrate and destroy?

I know the Archdemon can sense you, but it's also stated that the darkspawn have a hive mind or whatever, so how do we know he isn't just going by feel, a sort of "There are two darkspawn there that shouldn't be!" and knowledge from the past: "They must be Grey Wardens! Dispatch nearby scouting squad to remedy!"

Once they're among the horde of thousands of darkspawn, they'd be virtually unnoticed, right? They could just be another pair of ghouls, converted after that last village we razed. Or some such.

I just wanted to know if anyone else thought that might have been viable. A really short game maybe, but you know, reality vs. possibility.

Well, the books mention how darkspawn can sense the Wardens and how any Warden caught by darkspawn is immediately attacked and killed in the Deep Roads. I have a feeling that the taint in the Wardens is subtlety different than that of a darkspawn - it seems they can differentiate between the two.
