Hi there I was wondering if its possible to make a series of life draining weapons. I thing you would have to add a script to the item but I am not sure. Anyways I though it would be cool if you had that type of items in the game.
Adding life draining on hit for weapons possible?

i think you might have to look into GDAs or 2DAs or something to make a new special effect, seems like it would be very hard to scale and balance but i wish you luck as this would be sweet

Ah I was afraid of that but nothing good comes easy. I will have to work on it but I agree it would be sweet. I mean how can you have werewolves without Vampires? So I believe life draining weapons should exist.

Methinks is possible, but it would require some scripting work. Possibly a lot of scripting work.

Yes so far my atempts have not produced any thing of value. I tried to use the draining spell as a guide but I think I will have to make a total rehaul as its not like casting a spell to hit with a weapon. I think I am missing a large part and will have to figure out how to script weapon damage. so I am gona have to go through the scripts till I find how to caculate weapon damage because just trying to throw on the draining spell doesnt seem to work.

It's possible although I don't know how..but in the Artemis Enteri mod the dagger has it. Might want to check out how he did it. I played with the dagger and it does indeed heal the weilder while it damages the enemies. Wasn't overpowered either.

While potentially a very bad idea for performance and compatibility between other mods (probably still performance if anakin5's event manager would work with it), you might take a look at EVENT_TYPE_ITEM_ONHIT in rules_core.nss. Maybe assume certain properties based on its tag, look things up in a custom 2DA based on the tag or its affix, or use a custom local variable.
Hopefully there's a better way, but I'm just mentioning this as one place you can look at where things are done. There doesn't seem to be any "vampiric touch" effect that you can add to the itemprps 2DA (and EFFECT_TYPE_DRAINING looks like it's for some paralysis in the scripts that use it.)

It's true that Artemis Enteri mod dagger has it. I knew I saw that somewhere. So obviously it can be done. That dudes mod rocks. It's in my top 3 favorite mods (my forum picture on the left is wearing it). I use it all the time because his Master Assassin Coat is DISTANTLY the best looking armor on women. Nothing I've ever seen comes remotely close. I wish he would make more variations of that skin.
