get Wynne's approval high enough to get all of her dialog options, and always travel with her in your group. you should get the encounter automatically after you had a certain conversation with her (just like with Leliana's personal quest).

You don't need to talk to Wynne or get some random encounter to get it.  I've tested and proven this.  Just get her approval up and you'll get it.

Yup, In fact last game I had Vessel of the Spirit before I had the random encounter and she explained what happened.


I think I've gotten every playthrough I do and I've only actually gotten the random encounter once.  I usually do not worry about Wynne's approval rating and never really talk to her.

I just double checked something.  I got Vessel of the Spirit every game I checked. 1 out of the 4 games I only got the random encounter whenthey show Wynne activating it.

1 game I can't check becasue I killed Wynne at the Urn, but I think she still had it.

- So you can see it varies largely and you really do not need a high rating to get the ability.  But in order to get the random encounter it does have to be higher.

For me, it came after a "random" encounter - a really tough one with several nasty Darkspawn Elites. Wynn went down, then got up. As we were leaving the area, it went into a very brief cut scene: she collapsed, got up then started a dialogue about what happened to her.



Unfortunately I lost her not too long after during the Andraste's Ashes quest...whoops!

I also had Wynne revive autonomously right around or just before she received Vessel of the Spirit -- her explanation of that gift led me to interpret her revivals as a clever feature of the game rather than a bug.
