I mean, come on. Who in God's name thought that would be a good idea?

It's being discussed in many many other threads.

well they said that the reapers would "reproduce" based on what species they try to conquer. Considering that we can assume that the humans were the first to take on a reaper and win, and that they use a races genetic material or goo of said race, using the goo/genes of a race that beat them, to build a powerful reaper would be a decent idea.

they apparently went with that so we could draw a connection to it; it looking human and all. couldve had you know, the slightest hint of subtlety though. reaper/human combo isnt a bad idea on its own, but it is so blatantly radical a design, it loses alot of credibilty; something that actually looked reaper/human and not just giant terminator wouldve really made that bit of the game better; a synthesized terror... instead, we get something that makes us cringe at the thought of it flying thru space upon completion.

So...apparently not having spoilers in the topic title means nothing to you, huh?

I actually thought it was a pretty cool plot point. Humans managed to kill a Reaper, so Reapers see them as worthy and create a new Reaper from them before they wipe out everything else. Explains where Reapers come from quite nicely too.

Kill yourself, now.

Reaper LARVA nowhere near done.

Look at the reapers coming in, different (but similar in key ways) fronts same tails, would have looked very similar to the remainder of the reapers when finished.

really?

the general consensus is this. the actual story explanation for it is not this. for all we actually know the completed reaper wouldve looked like an exact gigantic replica of conrad verner. you have no idea what it would look like completed. stop taking whatever some people on a forum think as fact. tali doesnt actually look like smiling shepard either, that was a joke, not a secret reveal by bioware devs.

And yet, oddly, all the other Reapers look like floating squid.
I thought it was a little silly. Hopefully they'll offer a better explanation in ME3 than 'It's a baby!'
Or, better yet, hopefully they'll ignore it and pretend the whole event didn't happen.

theres way too many posts too look through with no search option... so deal with multiple threads with the same topic, until there is search. unfortunately

It's just so disappointing that the end-game is so immersive and heart-pounding right up until the boss.

Made complete sense to me. Why wouldn't they model a new reaper on the one race to ever kick their butts? It both punishes the race for it's audacity and freaks out the survivors when it comes for them.

it's most likely just the core , they do mention they only used thousands and still needs millions to be completed

We need to bump the original thread for all to read during high traffic hours. I bet it would stick.

There is concept art of what it may have looked like as a complete, full-fledged Reaper in the collector's edition art book.

Just FYI.

This is still a stupid explanation. Does the skeleton just chill inside of the squid-shaped ship and drive it around?

And this is why we have no reason to worry about the Reaper threat.

Well, its actually quite interesting. If you look closely at all those statues of the Protheans on Ilos in ME 1, you see that they didn't look like humans at all, but their upper torsos looked rather suggestively
like ... yeah, squids ...

Yeah really, flying in space using thrusters like Iron Man's armor or maybe swimming while we are at it.

If the goal was to end up with a giant sized human robot i find this utterly stupid.

I'm telling you, the big reveal for ME3 is going to be that the Protheans created the Reapers. Mark my words.
