No. No I have not. I cannot even begin to describe the loathing I have for that series now. The year Crossroads of Twilight was published, I read the first 1/2, put the book down and haven't touched it since. This is coming from someone who has read thousands of books and has a compulsion to finish them as quickly as possible.
I've head TGS is much, much, much better, but I just can't bring myself to touch it.
Also, pissed that I'm still *dead*.
CoS was really bad. It definitely picks up in Knife of Dreams; TGS is a breath of fresh air. Brandon Sanderson's (the ghost author) style is fairly different from Jordan's and that is to the disliking of some, but I think it renewed the series as well as gave TGS the spark that the last few books lacked.
It is strongly implied that you come back in the next book, Towers of Midnight <3

Oh...my...god... If I had to read ONE more page how so-and-so's gown was detailed, I would have lost my goddamned mind. Books really started to tank of 7. 8-11 were awful, awful, awful. *thinks* You know, the series really started to fall apart after Moiraine died. I think she was Jordan's beta reader.

Aw, I like being in crazy company EtteStarz! No wonder I feel right at home here. : D
And I confess, my husband (whom this account belongs to because I bought DA:O for him and then took it from him) is the computer Geek. I do not know how to cut and paste others's works. Sorry I am a total computer idiot.

My nick, LadyDamodred, is taken from the character Moiraine Damodred, who is kickass. Best damn character in the books, and I defy anyone here to argue that point with me.

Shadow, thank youthat was hilarious! I had to check on "Good Omens." "Five billion people almost die, and it was FUNNY."
Um yeah, so I think I will pick up book 1 of Jordan's, especially so I can see LadyD's inspiration and skip the rest.

He's dead. >.>
It was a terrible joke amongst my group of friends that his book series was so friggin' long that he would die before he finished it. And then he died. The series is being finished by a ghost writer using material that Jordan had left.

TGS is like super fast paced but not in a bad way! Elayne is hardly there in the book so you're spared gown descriptions to a degree.
And I agree: 1 to 5 were really good, started goijng downhill from Book 7 for me.

It makes his About the Author section morbidly hilarious and kinda sad... "He intends to write until they nail his coffin shut".

Shadow, now I need the "I'm not dead yet" t-shirt.
And I am glad it is okay to have a giggle about that then. And to get back on topic *ahem*. Jordan's works then remind me to keep trying to keep my story epic but not get lost in it. I will hold him as an example firmly in my mind. Thanks for that LadyD and Shadow. *wipes brow* Oh, and he is also a reminder not to write a story so epic that I die before I finish. LOL, I just had an image of the skeleton with it's head on the desk in front of a computer.
