Gah, it's gonna be HARD to write him so that it actually makes sense why he won that tournament! Ah well. I think I'll do a Duncan POV for that part, so we can see his mental anguish about the whole thing...

I'm just kinda stuck wrt getting Duncan, Alistair, and Daveth to Highever. I want them to stop in Amaranthine, because Duncan is still looking for recruits, but we know he doesn't find any so what's the point?

If they were at Vigil's Keep anyway, Amaranthine isn't that far to justify a visit. I'm trying to remember if the North Road (on the Amaranthine map) connects to Amaranthine or the Vigil. They could spend the night in an inn rather than camp on the road.

If there's no point in doing an in depth visit to the city, there's nothing wrong with glossing over the fact they stopped by, IMO. It depends how verbose you want to be about Duncan looking around for recruits.

That concept is an interesting discussion point.

One example is Sophia, who was put into the Wardens to (IIRC) take her out of the running for the throne or something.

But if you take Nathaniel Howe as an example then you can still benefit your family name by becoming a Warden. In one endgame slide he gets lands granted back to his family. Another endgame has a relative of his become Warden Commander and 'restore honour to the Howe name'.

Lots of people use that as proof that Wardens can't hold titles (except Alistair and maybe you) but she was also stripped of her title or else her descendents wouldn't be merchants. She was put into the Wardens as it was something for her to do that didn't involve planning a coup (and she was too dangerous to just allow to walk away) and seemed harmless since they viewed it as defunct. Of course, Sophia changed that...
