Okay I will have trouble with the high kicks too, and splits are out. But I am willing if Slim will show off his Templar shuffle. ^_^

So it's not that we're doing the Can Can - it's that we're doing the Can't Can't.  :D

I wouldn't mind so much but I was about halfway finished with my chapter and I lose a ton of motivation when the stats go down because I don't know how long it will be for and I can't bring myself to update while it's broken. Posted Image

Yeah, the insta-feedback 'at least people are looking at it, even if they don't review' thing definitely helps me out!

Can I join you? It's about 40 here in Spain, too.  I'm actually too hot to be pee'd off, I need to retain all the moisture I can...

Poor thing - but at least it isn't mostly muggy - isn't it ?

So, has anyone else ever been writing along happy as can be and thought, "Wow, the ending I have planned for my fic is way too easy"? Well, I did last night and now I've started speccing out tweaked endings and analyzing them in terms of what percentage of the main characters' lives would be hopelessly screwed up. I doubt I'll change anything, but one idea is incredibly enticing and I would love to write it but, it is way on the bitter side of bittersweet.

Now, I know there's a market for bittersweet endings and I know I'm biased in the case of your fic, but be wary of NOT giving readers what they expect almost as much as you should be of giving them what they expect. There's something really satisfying about having things tied up the way you want - or if not in the way you want, then in a way you want.

Maybe write an AU short story of your alternative ending?

:unsure:please make Anders happy:unsure:

ETA: It's up to you though. Really. :crying:

When I started writing my story I planned to have Maebh kill Loghain. I had it all in my head, her sneering at Anora as she chopped his head off. Glaring at the Bannorn with a kick-ass Oren Ishii "If ANY of you sons of b*****s got ANYTHING else to say, NOW'S THE F***ING TIME!" sort of attitude. And then her and Alistair going on to be horrible and ruthless together.

But that didn't work because that's not who they are. I had to let the characters do what they wanted to do. Go with the ending that makes sense for who your characters are. Just listen to them, they'll tell you what they need to do.

Of course, that can be really annoying when your characters insist on being stupid and too proud for their own good... Posted Image

So, what famous writer do you write like? Find out at: I Write Like

Hopefully, this will help inspire your writing...okay, going back to post more stuff to analyze. :D

Seems like stats are working again.

And EtteStarz, I checked that and I once got Dan Brown and the second time J.D Salinger.

Not sure what it really analyzes.

I did this yesterday and copypasted Hamlet act one scene two and it came out with Vladimir Nabokov :3

I am having a bad day. So very bad. I am getting mopey about DDW and what to do about it, and would quite like to restart the whole damn thing from the beginning and undo the fail, but... feh.

This chapter is just- feh. it's horrible and overwrought again. I wanted it to be less angst due to the last three chapters being full on, but I can't really go:

"and then Missa got a crown and crowned bhelen and there was a party."

I can't skip the anvil and the Broodmother, and Branka/Oghren interactions. But I'm so very conscious I'm goiing to ****** readers off.

Meant to be working, whoooopssss. *skedaddles off to draw vomit flowers*

See, one of my charactes is actually talking to me and he's being a bit "Yeah, so I like what you've done here, but I feel like that whole thing over there is a bit pat." and I agreed and then there's that doubt that soignee mentions...

Today I'm in a much more "I've a ways to go and assassins to deal with before anyone gets any sort of ending, so I'll just keep writing and see what happens" sort of place.

I love how you skipped most of the Circle Tower and summed up the Brecelian Forest in a chapter.  But (IMO) take as much time in the Deep Roads as you need.

I read somewhere, and agreed, that the game is structured so that generically, the Landsmeet is really the climax.  Loghain is the major antagonist, and resolving Ferelden's division (however you do it) is the major achievement.  The dragon-slaying stuff after, that's denoument.

But specifically, for your story with Missa, I think that climax (maybe that's the wrong word?) and major resolution is happening now, in the Deep Roads.  This is the crucible for her; she's going to come out of it ready for the Landsmeet and the battle.  Take it down as deep as it wants to go, down to the heat and pressure where coal becomes diamond, and then let it rise back up.

Missa as Inanna/Ishtar... would not have thunk it.

I did it three times with three different sections (a mix of dialogue and character thoughts, just character thoughts, and mostly dialogue) and got, respectively, HP Lovecraft, Stephen King, and Ian Fleming.

The irony is, if I made a conscious effort to do so I'd probably end up drinking a lot. And then I would end up writing like Faulkner or Joyce and nobody would buy my books and I would die penniless and liverless BUT AT LEAST I WOULD HAVE MY SELF-RESPECT!

A different piece was analyzed to be like Chuck Palahniuk. Good God what am I doing!?

Well it is for me, but is that okay for people reading?

Dealing with her own duster issues and working where she fits in life is part of the story... I honestly could end it after I crown Bhelen and have her victoriously walk away from Orzammar's gates while the credits scroll up, but...

Well, I suppose there's the matter of Loghain and the resolution of dragon slaying anddddd of course Zevran/Missa to tie up (not like that, you pervy individuals.)
