Just a side note, since we're talking about the taint and related subjects:

I was looking up certain infectious diseases (what can I say?  I'm an information hog) and I found out that one variant of smallpox, a particularly deadly one, has the same symptoms as the darkspawn corruption - high fever, loss of mental faculties, one's skin turning black, etc.  Why was I looking this up?  Oh, no reason.  It had NOTHING to do with my fanfic or anything.

Just thought it was interesting and thought I'd toss it out there.  You never know when this sort of info might come in handy  :D

You mean haemorrahgic smallpox, that's fulminating...  Too fast, I see the taint as something more akin to the big C, slow and insidious....

I have so many reviews to leave now. I've been getting errors every time I tried.

My process:

1. Post

2. spot typo, edit, repost, hope no one saw it.

3. F5 review page/ check email

4. F5 review page/ check email

5. F5 review page/ check email

6. *Wah* No one loves me. My new chapter is horrid. I will listen to whingey goth music and mope in the manner of my teenage self. (last night it was The Cruxshadows)

7. Begin next chapter, determined to make it suck less than the previous one which clearly sucked lots since no one reviewed.

8. Remember ff.net is operated by a hamster on a wheel and F5 once more.

9. See half dozen reviews and dance around my room (as whingey goth music is still playing). 10. Say "nothing!" when roommate asks what I'm doing.

11. Briefly wonder if the instant-gratification feedback of fanfic is why I can't get inspired on my original work.

12. sleep.

Also, there is IRC?

REVIEWS FTW!  Man, those things are super motivational.    I never realized how uplifting it is to get feedback, even if it's just 'yay I like this'.  Whoulda thunk?

Reviews on the crack on which I huff.   I /love/ reviews with every fiber of my being.  I obsess about reviews *stares at Rage*.

LOL we totally enable each other and it is ~GLORIOUS~

I had a great review yesterday...  She quoted from chap 4 but had
obviously read up to chap 19, she gave her opinion on some of my
characters including OCs, I was feeling down in the dump and she made me
happy again...[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/angel.png[/smilie]

Yes! Well, sort of. There's a few. The one I frequent is attached to the Swooping is Bad livejournal community. blackcobalt.net:9090/ There's the webclient. Just enter #swooping_is_bad in the Channels field and whatever handle you would like to use in the Nickname field.

Don't be too scurred. We get all giddy when somebody new joins us!

I ran in and ran out of there once or twice. I think I need to get out of the habit of streaking through IRC's...

Is it all-Alistair, or more general?  (I sometimes read the LJ but I don't post since I'm not a huge Alistair fan.)

The LJ group is pretty Alistair-focused, yeah, but the IRC isn't.

IRC is definitely /not/ Alistair focused.  Focused on a specifc bodypart? Yes.  Alistair's specifically? No.

Oh, this is going to get me into trouble. I spent more time on IRC than in class when I was in college the first time around.

Which is probably why I had to, you know, drop out and start again a decade later. ;)

(well, that and my minor in underage debauchery)

I shouldn't even be here now, I'm supposed to be cleaning the house for a party! I have no willpower. But I have another chapter almost done, so hey, there's something!

Hehe. Happy birthday by the way Lupus. I drop into the IRC every now and then but little 2 year old seems to be able to SENSE whenever I open that particular window and nearly always stops me from actually typing anything there. I can't count the number of times I've turned up just to say "I have to go".

@ Miri, aw two year olds. Oh and sweetie, I promise I am lurking on your writings still. I am just so behind in writing let alone reading....*sigh* But your writing still holds my heart. Yummy Nate lovin' now, WOOT!

On a good note I have half chapter 89 done. Bad note, I go on vacation starting this weekend and I don't know how much writing I will get done.

Putting a rough draft for my outline, charachters, and general setting tonight.

Very fun, but I can now respect D. Gaider and company a lot more for just how much work writing takes to start. Hopefully it gets easier after I get into it but crafting so much is hard.

Thank you, Miri. I'm celebrating in true "oh my god, what happened, I used to be a club kid, I used to wear crazy costumes and go dancing four nights a week, when did I get so old!" style with a good old fashioned clutching at my youth.

Just got home from getting my nose pierced.

I might be in love with myself or at least with my writing. I keep getting drawn back to reading what I already wrote. It's not a new problem for me. LOL. I've been doing it for many many.. oh I mean just a few years. Is it wrong to cry over your own writing? LOL I get way too much into my characters. It's a sickness I tell you! LOL. I hope everybody else enjoys writing as much as I do :)

Happy Birthday Lupus! Just for you:

Why! all delights are vain, but that most vain

Which, with pain purchas'd, doth inherit pain:

As, painfully to pore upon a book

To seek the light of truth, while truth the while

Doth falsely blind the eyesight of his look.

Light, seeking light, doth light of light beguile;

So ere you find where light in darkness lies,

Your light grows dark by losing of your eyes.

I'm kind of jealous. I always make sure that, for chapter stories, I go back and reread the most recent section before writing the next part so I can make sure to have a good idea of where I left off but I absolutely can't stand reading something I've written. Posted Image

Oh wow!  I know that dance!  My personal favorite on the music front (at least currently) is Lacuna Coil and I added the step of getting on GoogleTalk and boo-hooing to Gil and Ladyames about what an utter failure I am and threatening to hit the delete button on my FF files.  So nice to have a hobby.:P

Hmm... Love's Labour's Lost, yes? I want to say 1.1 or 2.1, but I may be off there.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, everyone. :)

@DreGregoire : I frequently reread my own stuff. I can barely keep track of all my characters and plotlines otherwise. ;)

In on-topic discussion...

I'm working on my next chapter and part of it is... dark. Potentially-triggering dark. I'm debating scrapping the whole thing since it feels too out of tone compared to the rest of my story. Not sure, though.

If I do keep it should I put a warning in a note at the top? I'm never sure what to do, or how much to give away, with things like that.
