I feel like the hypersensitivity we often see about exposing young people to sexual content is silly--although I don't tend to write very explicit scenes or especially violent ones myself.

Eh... as long as we can keep difference between giving an honest answer to, "Mommy, why is that sheep wrestling with that other sheep?" and encouraging prepubescents to see themselves as sexual commodities, I can get with this.  Unfortunately, a lot of 'sexual content' gets presented as aspirational ("This is the One True Sexy!  You must be Sexy Too!") rather than factual ("Hey y'all, this is sex.")

Lock me up, right now. ANOTHER character just reared her little head thanks to Aimo's and Soignee's contest. My DNF wants her own voice and I haven't even gotten her past Ostagar yet. ~whimper~

It's amazing how RL can eat up ALL of your time, especially when you have these really incredible, angst-filled scenes swarming your brain. You ladies/guys complain about your muses but mine is probably complaining about me instead.

sigh

I sometimes think my end will find me before i finish this story I'm writing, and i don't like leaving things half-done.

No. There's some pretty darn racy stuff on FF.net so I'm guessing it doesn't happen often. I think someone said you have to be reported for it?

I've read some really ... interesting ... things on ffnet, so I doubt just porn gets lifted.  It probably has to be really out there stuff to get removed.  In a lot of groups, you see tons of posts that start with "PWP one-shot" and they stick around for aaaages.

No, someone stole pieces of my fic, Loved, and put it in something they wrote for Masskink.  They also stole another author's Shenko stuff, too.

I've decided to be flattered, after outting them for plagiarism.  After all, I figure if imitation is a form of flattery, out and out theft must mean complete worship.

Although, if you think about it. If you can't even come up with your own smutty fantasies, and you have to lift them from someone else's writing, that's a pretty sad state of affairs right there.

(hee hee!)

I haven't had any smut lifted - mostly due to lack of smut - but a few months ago someone contacted me to let me know that another author was totally ripping off my 'Oh God Not Again' Harry Potter time travel parody. I decided to check it out, really not expecting it to be that bad...it was JUST that bad. The most blatant ripoff was from a chapter where Harry accused Draco of being a kleptomaniac since he couldn't keep his hands off of Neville's magical mood ring and then when Draco stole the Remembrall at the flying lesson it came up again. The other story quoted mine verbatim except that they replaced the word 'kleptomaniac' with 'person who really likes to steal things.' When I sent them a review showing the sentences from my story that matched up nearly exactly with theirs they apologized because they claimed they didn't notice that they did that...despite the fact that some of the things that they stole from my story made no sense in the context of that story as THEIR Harry shouldn't have had future knowledge like mine did. They've since removed it, though.

Nobody steals my smut because I keep it all hidden, but back in the day when I wrote popular fiction I set off a trend of fiction I'm not very proud of. It's probably why I don't post most of my stuff to this day.

They didn't lift MY smut, they lifted my PLOT and WORDS for THEIR smut.

Which is possibly even more lame.

So long as you didn't write Twilight, it's all good.

And if you did write Twilight...well...

Let's just say if you've ever read a very embarrassing genre of self insertion fiction, specifically in anime, I had a big name in that community and in that fiction category. I'm quite ashamed of it, actually. xD

Yeah, I haven't since I turned 15. If that...tells you anything. They're all pretty much Twilight. They must make a very bland character who will spark the interest of a character, and so it turns out very badly. I have a friend who is in her twenties who still writes it, and she'll write a good 15,000 per chapter or one shot. I don't enjoy it because girls just use it to express their fantasies. I'm much more fond of in character attempts and the like. I can tell you now either the 'reader' will be a timid abuse victim or a spunky girl who doesn't take crap from anyone.
