Gonna post it here too. ^_^

"The Hunt" now has a piece of art courtesy of Aimo! Yay!

(Can you guess which chapter it was based off? ;) )

This was drawn as an article header for Australia's gaming magazine "PC Powerplay", so any Aussies out there can get it in issue 181 (on shelves now) complete with an article by Meghann O'Neill that touches on fan fiction and art, and how we get attached to the games we love. :) It also has a couple of quotes from myself as a fanfic writer, so I am all "squee" about being interviewed. :)

So thank you very much Aimo for the art, and Meghann for having us both in PC Powerplay!

Oh wow! My hubby gets PC Powerplay - is it the latest issue? Or the next one coming up?

Edited to add - FOUND IT. Oh cool! I shall write a response to the magazine I think. I usually get round to reading the whole thing if hubby buys it before I chop up all the pictures so toddler can use them for collages.

And the pic is awesome. Aimo rocks!

Did they give you a copy of the article to read? It's about female gamers gaming "monogamously". Drafted this letter and sent it in response:

Having been directed to Meghann's article by some friends on the Bioware Community Creations Forum and pulling this months copy of PC Powerplay from it's inevitable home in our downstairs bathroom to read it, I must agree, wholeheartedly, to the idea that the female gamers I know have a propensity for monogogaming. Since I downloaded Dragon Age at the beginning of this year (a Christmas present from my sister-in-law) I have toyed with the idea of the Sims but not touched another game since.

However, I must say that Dragon Age has done more than this for me - to the extent where I've written over 300,000 words of fanfiction in six months, more words than I wrote during my entire two university degrees - possibly more than I have written in my entire educational history.

I've kept my fanfiction secret from my real-world friends and made a group of new ones online who share my obsession and read and review it, along with a few amazing artists who have even gone so far as to draw some of my characters, making me feel at home and welcome in a community of creative types who are not ashamed to be inspired by a game. Of all the semi long term relationships I've had over the years - Final Fantasy, Assassins Creed, Morrowind and Total War (only Rome, of course, the shameless hussiness of Medieval never appealed) none have captured my heart and interest as thoroughly as this gem, and it has been the only one with which I have been tempted to procreate.

Yes, monogogaming is real. But I would go so far as to say with Dragon Age that this particular game has made an honest woman of me. Sure, I may look at others in passing, perhaps even flirt with them. But I hug my Dragon Age babies to my breast and will continue to make more for as long as the world is willing to accept them.

What do you think?

Love it! I too, have written more words than I ever did in Uni. And I too flirt with other games, but I have no interest. You all are such a great support and so important to my process. I have friends here, who don't look down on my need to create using a game. For that I love you all, and for your own creative, genius creations. I am in awe of so much talent. That I am thought of as even slightly worthy to count myself among you all thrills me and humbles me. You guys all rock my world. And now I am going to go get teary eyed into my mead.

If anybody has trouble getting inspired for their writing just listen to John Williams music. I am serious there are songs for fighting, and a lot of stuff.

Although I have to bump my rating up to M after the last rough draft, where Sigvard takes on three people and dose some brutal moves in it.

Not the whole thing since it was pre-published stuff, but I was told the gist of it. :)

It's great! I had to try and say monogogaming out loud, too.

And I heartily agree...it's great to be a part of a supportive community who aren't ashamed of being inspired to creativity by games. ;) I'm still shamelessly attached to DA, despite having bought a few other games recently...

Don't worry Shadow, I won't tell on you to Zev or Ali. Unless Zev brings out the rabbit fur lined cuffs, and the feather. Well, then I can't promise I won't squeal...and giggle.

Yes it does. For me, it helps me from falling into a pit of despair from my job (which is fulfilling but emotionally difficult), and helps me hone a skill I had not been using as I should, and enjoy the heck out of it while doing so. And bonus... creative, smart, funny, talented people I can hang out with. And fantasize with. *giggles as Ali uses the feather Zev handed him*

What would happen to an arling in Ferelden if the last arl passed away without an heir? Would it revert to the crown?

I assume the banns would "elect" a new Arl. Isn't it meant to be bottom up government?

Okay, I know this must have been requested before, but I'll just ask.

Does anyone have the exact Thedas calendar? With both high and common names of the months? I think the one on the Wiki is screwed up.

Shadow,

That's AWESOME! Congrats!

DA was the first game that got me hooked to the point of wanting to actually write fanfiction, even though I've read it off and on for years (usually for anime/books). And I've been a serial monogamist for games for years. :)

As always, Aimo's art is awesome. And to do that scene from the hunt is also awesome. :)

Good stuff!
