Just the same, I've read fic after fic where they have to find an inn somewhere. For dwarves, this is even more complicated as no one wants to let a brand or an exiled kinslayer stay with them and it's all so very unnecessary because they already have quarters set aside for them. The DC and non-dwarves have an excuse not to know but every DN fic where they don't remember these basic things that they should know is facepalm-inducing.

Heh, I didn't know that too. So in my story Lenya has forced Harrowmont to give them rooms to stay since she is doing the dirty work for him anyway. The rooms are quite comfortable in a Lord's estate, I heard

I've always thought Jowan was badass. I think it's his voice actor... (who plays a guy in Lothering and, so I'm told, a player voice.) It was only later I found out that he was clingy and whiney. He's still cool though, in that "friend that doesn't care how mean you are" way.

Then again, I'm also the guy that thought Cailan and Jory were cool in my first playthrough. That can't be healthy.

That made me laugh out loud. Of course, I liked Cailan for a couple of playthroughs. 

I would probably love Jowan had I played a mage first. Instead of him being established as my mage's childhood friend, he was that f*ck-up from Redcliffe who couldn't even beat the demon in the Fade when I tried to give him a chance at redemption. I like him now, but the damage has been done.

I think Jowan's just whiny because when you meet him his entire life is falling apart and he's about to be basically lobotomized. But even then he's cracking jokes about the talking statue and (if you betrayed him) being a total sarcastic bastard in Redcliffe.

So my thought is, under normal circumstances, he's probably a funny and overall entertaining person to hang with.

At least, that's how I write him.

I loved his crack about the talking statue. Made me laugh on my first playthrough. But on my first playthrough I was all circle goody goody and told Irving about him so he was whiny and nasty in Redcliffe. Only since reading your Jowan have I been good to him.

I always worry my interpretation of his character is a bit too... liberal and I go wildly into ooc land. But, it isn't like you know a ton about him before so I think I can mess with the personality a bit more than someone really rounded out like, say, Alistair. (who I also have a tendency to mess with by turning into a goofy frat boy which may be a bit ooc as well, so what do I know...)

PC Powerplay is a print only mag I think? And my icon is my Aedan Cousland from Shades of Grey - I'm finally doing an evil playthrough. Or at least an Aedan playthrough which isn't exactly evil - more of a "what can I get out of this" playthrough.
