Thanks, all! I'm going with Val Royeaux - it's an Indiana Jones-style archaeological adventure, so genre logic dictates the heroes go to the biggest, fanciest city around if possible. It sounds like there's nothing in canon to contradict it, so off they go.

Seems sensible to me Corker, if Orlais is la France then I cannot imagine any order worth its salt not having a see in Val Royeaux (or Paree)!

I keep saying that city's name in my head with a French accent. Hell, I do it when talking about it out loud.

HI, my name is Sia and I'm a geek. *facepalm*

You know, Sia, I'm pretty sure most of us here qualify as geeks in some measure.

And one should keep in mind that, if i remember correctly, the term geek was not always an insulting one. Or was that nerd?

Shouldn't they go up when you have something new? *confuzzled* I'm new to the whole FF.net thing.

FF.net has issues. Once in a while, the servers or something don't work properly and stats aren't accurately kept track of.

I meant language geek.  Not just geek-geek.

Sometimes the stats on the days they were down will go up once the problem has been fixed so while you can't tell if it recorded all of the ones from that day, at least it's something. Usually, though, it's just recorded as a zero forever which is especially annoying for days you update.

It was more that when you update your story, the statistics system will break. You'll have no idea who is reading, and how many are reading (or where they are reading from. That's always the fun part.). I think out of my 35 chapters, 25 have been posted on days when the stats were broken. The first time it happened, I was like, "it isn't boring! I wrote it to not be boring! People are getting beheaded! Its so ossum!" And now I just shrug my shoulders. Stats going down isn't really an inconvenience, but it does remove some novelty.  Back in my day, we didn't have those fancy charts!

Yeah, I tend to have that same confirmation bias and even now when I think back I mostly remember days when just that happened and yet I know it broke the other day when I hadn't updated and, realistically, most of the times I've updated the stats have been fine. On the other hand, whenever it DOES happen it's the most infuriating thing.

"Geek" was originally a term to describe circus performers who would perform acts to shock the audience, most commonly biting the heads off of chickens. So I guess it's wasn't technically an insult...

Clariana would like to clarify the following: No chickens were harmed in the course of her declaration of geekiness.

I doubt I'll ever be able to reply adequately to all them (I'll try at least, kay?) but I want you to know Sarah that this is very much appreciated. Hell who am I fooling, I sit here and am squeeing like mad atm.

Greeting all. How is the fanfiction sucking today? I pulled all the stories from my fanfiction.net account and am now elbow deep in my Leliana fic. The writing is some of the easiest I've had in months.

A geek was originally a freak show worker in a traveling carnival.

I'm glad you're appreciating them. Since for some reason once the review earns a scroll bar, it keeps jumping up to the start of the review and I can't check for typos, I've been  writing them in word and then pasting it over and some of them are shorter than one-shots I've done. Posted Image So I have a lot to say.

As I've been saying for, like, ever once I finished my story (which I recently did writing if not posting) I'd have time to read everyone else's and I decided to start with yours after seeing your Christmas wish. Posted Image

Of course, I appreciate them and it's been a blast to read such detailed reviews, as said. <3 Though I think I won't bomb you now with an answer for each of them, this would let your PM-box burst, I guess. This one text-wall I send to you should suffice, eh? If not just tell me, I hardly shut up about my story  :wizard: And thanks to it its christmas already, heh. Unfortunatly I have to avoid blight stories a long while....well...longer due to the epic length that my story is. But I'll read them eventually.;)

Just got my second ever FF.net review and boy... harsh. Other people were aware of it before I even was. Damn, oddly enough everyone seems to be on me about how mean Morrigan treats the Warden. So I guess I gotta address that a little more often, but on the otherhand the review described the Warden as an "Idiot and emotional wreck" "breaks down in tears like he is mentally retarded" "need to make him the excellent male protagonist like he was in Origins and Awakening".

Day-um. They went through all 13 sections just to come to the conclusion that the Warden is an idiot and overly emotional. Thats exactly why Morrigan is treating him this way. So i'm confused that either I've been doing too good a job in this or I've been doing a ****** poor job.

Oy, I was all sleepy coming into work tonight but damn now I'm all awake but now I gotta mentally revise how this next chapter is gonna go down, as Im not entirely sure where I'm going wrong or if I am going wrong.

Well, you have to take the source into consideration, too. I glanced at that review and one of the person's Tolkien's stories and erm... let's just say that I got a better impression from a few paragraphs of yours than of his/ hers. Grammar and spelling alone, sheesh!  So, it's just one person's view and not a very constructive one.

Well I responded positively to it, and thanked 'em for leaving a review and told them what I could actually use from their comments. They took the effort to read the damn thing, and it irked them enough to actually foster a response so I just kinda sat back and answered them once the initial shock wore off.

Which was classier than I thought I'd handle it
