Okay I killed the thread. *cries*

Speaking of the bar graph on FF, does it make you feel bad if you don't get a chapter out and notice it dropping? I get this little flutter of ACK.

You didn't kill the thread.  I'm just doing things like working so that I can afford to buy pretty things that I like... and wine.  Yes, must have money for booze.

On the bar mention, when I see my traffic go down, it just sort of inspires me to hurry my ass up and get another chapter of something out there.  Maybe I should stare at it tonight so that I can actually write.  Folks are breathing over my shoulder for updates.

*breaths on Tasmen* LOL Darn that working for booze thing! I too love to drink my wine. :D

I do too, I am trying to hurry my ass up so I can see the bar go back up again. ROFL.

Oh good, I am glad I didn't kill it. MireliA you crack me up!

Oh Ette, no don't compare bars. Like I said, they may be crack, but to me it just means anyone who may have drilled down on the story, but didn't necessarily read it. I did find my bars went up when I put a better description for the story. My first one sucked.

Well its finally happened. My proof reader (or husband as he's otherwise known) has thrown in the towel. Apparently he'll finish pr'ing the rest of the Warden Commander but anything else I write that's DAO related, forget it. He said I'd put him off ever playing DAO again! :o

And that wasn't a hint for a Beta btw - I have nothing else going on :)

My husband really doesn't read my stuff either because he has no interest in DAO.  Silly men!

I got my husband to read some of the latest one because I'm writing an adolescent boy and I had NO IDEA what was appropriate for what ages. He read it, gave me a few pointers, then said "Why don't you go and write the great Australian Novel instead so I can retire?"

I told him I needed to write fan fiction first - to "practice" :)

I hope nobody minds if I do this.

My beta-reader, rednightmare, is just the most amazing author and I'd like to share her fanfic with you.  She's just updated her Bloodlines fic "Byzantine Black" - which I highly recommend,  even if you aren't a Vampire the Masquerade fan, it's still a really great yarn, very well written.  She also has a Dragon Age fic called 'Cake' - a Brosca series, which is so good, and has made me properly laugh and cry.  She's also got a couple of Mass Effect fics - I know there was some talk about the scariness of ME fics earlier in the thread.  I confess I've not looked at red's but if the other two are anything to go by, they'll be great.

She doesn't know I'm doing this, so I hope she doesn't mind!

Really, give them a go.  I would really love to be able to write as well as this, I think they are what writing is all about.

@Miri Yep yep, he wants me to do the same thing though not the Australian novel but something else.

I actually read her on your recommendation before.  She truly does write word candy that I want to bathe in and eat.  I haven't read her vampire story mainly because I know it will make me want to dive into the world of vampire again and distract me from finishing all my DAO stuff.

But yes, for what it is worth, consider this another A+++ for her work.

@Tasmen - take the plunge - it's so fab.

I made a little edit on my original post to add that I'd like to write like rednightmare but just wanted to explain why.

I know everyone here suffers from confidence crisis on a fairly regular basis. So to be positive, I wanted to share an example of how I would *like* to write, but from within the fanfic community, rather than a book or something. Reading red's stuff gives me a bit of pride about what I'm doing, if you see what I mean?

Hope I don't sound like an arse. :)

Thanks for sharing, Tara!  And everyone has to start somewhere before the book deals and whatnots.

Oh, I will check out red's writing, thanks Tara! :kissing:

And MireliA, my husband doesn't read mine at all, though he does play DA:O, in fact I stole it from him, this is his account, muahaha! But he won't read it and I don't want him too, he is too critical and nit picky. Really, he would make me never want to write again. So, I am glad I don't have him reading for me.:P

That's actually what I took from your original post anyway :D  I can share an author I lust after as well, or well, three of them that always leave me wanting more and jealous -- Crisium, Lilith Morgana and Midnight Strike.  Crisium and Lilith just tell great stories that are written so beautifully.  Midnight Strike writes some of the best angst ever.  Her stuff is..*sigh*  I love that girl.  All their stuff can be found on FFnet.

Alright, I'm taking a small break from whatever I'm supposed to be doing.  So, this is off topic - sort of - but what other creative writing does everyone else do besides for dabbling in fan fiction?  Seems we have a lot of angsty writers floating around...

Great...I just joined a poetry group today since my haiku group got disbanded...not sure why. So, what's your favorite style, Gil?

I've got an original fic I started to work on.  But it really doesn't get that much attention as I'm horribly addicted to fanfic atm.

Really?  What's the original piece about?  Myself, I've got too many things going on and can't seem to focus so I kind of envy your "addiction" to your fan fiction...not that I'm ignoring mine.  It just gets written one paragraph every second hour or something and undergoes one painful revision after the other.  I probably need to take a break from the forum since I get a pang of guilt when someone else is posting an updated chapter...but it's just pang, mind you.

LOL FF is addictive is it not? I feel you Tasmen!

Free form is my fav, though I have done Iambic pentameter, thank you Mr. Shakespeare. And obviously haiku. I do enjoy the haiku, it is like fanfiction. Certain rules force you to work with in them creatively. If that makes sense.

Completely, Gil.  Though I will admit that haiku can, at times, be a little too esoteric for me.  I suppose you get the elitist in just about every group, but man, snotty high-brow haiku writers - they can suck all the fun out of writing it.

The original fic?  It's a sekkrit!  My addiction is both a blessing and curse. I've got too many fires burning atm imho.

Yeah, you realize that you've only invited even more curiosity, right?

We can start a thread of 20 questions if that works to get it out of you.  :D

I limit my writing to my D&D campaigns.  >.>  And it's not nearly complete as my fics are.  I just enjoy running through stories in my head.  Also, writing some of the stuff from the campaigns hurts b/c I do terrible, awful things to my characters.
