The last one I'd definitely shell out for. I'm always so curious about how people stumble onto my fic, and every once in a while I'll have some crazy day where my stats skyrocket and I get a lot of new people adding me to their alerts and favs, which can only make me think someone mentioned it somewhere and I never know WHERE...

Yes, I would pay a little for all of the above too.

They wouldn't be selling the fanfiction. They'd be selling the server space and services. They couldn't charge to READ the fanfiction.
Yes, I realize that. I was just wondering if there were other legalities to it that we aren't aware of because it's a fanfic site, that's all.

Well, I just got home and tried to bring said chapter up and it won't let me.Merilsell wrote...
Oh, surprise, FF.net is currently down due to server-probs. That's news, huh? Well *shrug* then I won't update today, I guess.
Edit: Now it works again...question only is...for how long, lol.

Oh, definitely. I try not to think about how many stories I have because it is kind of scary but people still read them long after they've been finished and occasionally review or add it to their favorite list (or story alert which is kind of weird since they're not ever going to be updated). Sometimes, after receiving no reviews/favs for quite some time I'll get several for the same one in the same day and I have to wonder if it's a coincidence or if there's some other reason a months-old one-shot is suddenly getting so much attention all at once.LupusYondergirl wrote...

I reckon this is 'word of mouth' in action, someone reads one of your older fics Sarah, really likes it goes to class and says to BF "I've just read something on FF.net that is AWESOME!" So BF logs in reads too and word gets around... It's great, society in action... It's made things like the movie "Shawshank Redeption" which had a lukewarm reception on realease into an all time favourite.

@Sarah1281 Is there a stronger emotion than hate? Abhor? The answer is yes sweetie, I can't stand writing them and for the same reasons you mentioned.*HUGS*

So does anybody else hate writing fic summaries? That is seriously the worst part of writing fanfic as far as I'm concerned.
I, also, loathe summaries. Coincidentally, I also hate writing synopses for my original fic. I actually find it harder than writing the novel itself.
I think that alone is why I gave in and started doing my prompt responses as a single story so I'd only have to write one description (which I hate anyway)
Clearly, that was a moment of brilliance on your part.
But true, she is really, really, really wanting the next chapter of First Cut. I think she wants Ali and my PC to get it on already.
But you have staying power! Or something. I think there was a better joke for that opening, but I am overtired and my attempt failed.

Titles are even worse.
Oh no, not titles. 30 Dragon was supposed to be a rough draft title and I could never figure out another one. Its sequel nearly just got named 31 Dragon instead of coming up with something else. It's sad when it takes longer to come up with a title than it does to write 5k words. Or more. >_<

My best, as I see it, is sadly the most recent chapter: "Morrigan." It made sense, becuase it was the first time Tayte really got to know Morrigan. I wish the previous few chapters had decent names... ("The Joining" comes close.)

I took Corker's advice and read 1000 words of what I had, winced, and then spent nearly 3 hours (and 3 glasses of red) actually improving it a lot. It was basically a straight re-write. Huh. Thanks.
(I can contribute to the current discussion no further, however. I never write enough to be able to name chapters. But a summary, however. I reckon I could write a kickass summary.)
