Chapter names for me are just lines from the chapters, either something that strikes me as funny or as fitting for the overall mood of the chapter. Or even just the best stand-alone thought that will fit in the character limitations.

I actually like writing titles and summaries. In my epic-lenth tale, I already know what some of the later chapters will be called, even the final one, and some titles will be an allusion to previous ones.

As for summaries... well, with how I moved to a new place and haven't set up my internet yet, I've actually written a one-shot and the summary goes like this (I think):

"After the Provings, Maric begins to feel the true meaning of boredom while attending the feast in honor of Prince Trian's introduction as heir... until the latter's little brother decides to help his elder look good at all costs, especially if it involves an apparently blloddied nug of death."

So, can you guess what the one-shot is about?

I'll only be able to post it next week, unfortunately.

I tend to use song titles as its pretty damn easy to find the inspiration for a particular scene OR song that really resonates with the whole piece. Summaries are terrible and the bane of my existence as I've difficulty getting my point across even in half a page a long summary. I used to dread 1 sentence story descriptions from high school ugh... I feel old now.

I can't title my own stuff, nor can I synopsize it. So, I feel the same way.

My chapter titles are usually a word or short phrase that seems to encapsulate the theme of any given chapter. I've only had a hard time with a chapter name once and that was because I really struggled with the end of the chapter, which is usually where everything gets pulled together.

If I ever write another long story, I will use song titles. Maybe. It seems like fun.

Have I said today how much I love unabashedly smutty writing?

Naked Leliana + Orlesan noblewomen + warm caramel pudding drizzled in various... areas = Maria types away an hour with a massive grin on her face.

If only kinkmeme had more f/f requests.

Question for all of you... Do we know how old Connor is?

Hmm, not sure. I think the toolset says what age he is but you know, you can't really trust what it says (it lists Alistair as 30, which is bull).

Can't really check right now though, since I'm at work.

For a fact? Don't... think so. I'm leaning toward 6-7, maybe 9 at the most. Let me look in a few places.

Edit: Toolset says he's 12. Huh... older then I thought.

I was thinking 12 for some reason. Good to see I'm not completely out of my mind. ;)

There's one default kid body model, for all ages, so it's tough to go by that. I wish there wasn't, but since kids are such a minimal part of the game I can't blame them for allocating resources elsewhere.

@Raonar : Alistair actually was 30 when they began writing the game. His character was scrapped and rewritten as a much younger man later on. There's a few things, like the age reference in the toolset and Loghain's comment about Rowan being embarrassed if he was acknowledged, that never got pulled out. (since she had been dead several years by the time he was born)

So not so much wrong as... outdated.

I know about the ages being outdated, and how Dwyn in Redcliffe was supposed to be the nemesis to the human commoner and all that :P

Meh, good thing you got your answer in the meantime at least. :P

I wonder how much they changed Dwyn once they dropped the HC storyline. I mean, he's just so NOT threatening at all.

the lore for mages is that they develop magic in their teens, much like mutants in the X-men universe. See if I can scrape up the Gaider post, it was ...somewhere.

Odd... the mage origin says "Having been found capable of magic at a very young age..." and even Wynne says she was barely in her puberty when she lit that kld's head on fire. Or do you mean they only develop CONTROL for magic? Though I;m not sure that's all that age-related either....

I swear I am trying not to read that in a dirty manner. Failing, but desperately trying! >_<

Gah, so I'm having a problem choosing paths for characters. Well, more like, they've indicated at paths I wouldn't have thought of had they not... indicated. I have plenty of time in the story to explore where said characters and choices could go, but normally I know where stuff will end up (how can you foreshadow if you dont?) and it's bugging me that I don't.

Anyone else have had this problem? Half of me just wants to flip a coin, but that doesn't seem fair to the character and plot development.

I had a problem with that once mostly because I was concerned about how people would react. When it happened, most people were fine with it but there was a vocal minority who reacted very, very badly and really upset me. It always ends up taking people by surprise when that read that section, too.

Well... I had a similar problem trying to decide what Zevran and Moira and Alistair would turn out to be. Zevran was going to walk. Then Alistair was going to. And Moira begged them both. (Somewhere in the back of my head, not on paper.) I didn't realize Moira had abandonment issues till Zev started threatening to leave. It was rather odd to feel a character panicking in the back of my imagination. ;)

I let them figure out what they wanted.
