Hell no. It's just a preference. I wanted him edgier instead of the typical squee material.
After a year in this fandom I'm just a bit tired of streamlined characters ... and the Warden.

But that's just me.

I think you may be right.  My smut in the Deep Roads chapter has twice as many views as just about every other chapter of AOA.

And my Alistair knows he was conceived there... It does seem that Orzammar 'buries' FF writers' best laid plans, although Alistair got laid in Orzammar and not in the Deep Roads, they're more for intrigue and violence.

That's why when I wrote my playthrough fic I had my Warden strung out on lyrium and mired in grief. See, I didn't have to describe everything because she just ~didn't remember she was numb to the world~.

@jackkel: Usually I go overboard with smilies to the point that I use them as a kind of punctuation for every single sentence. (And looking back, I did have smilies in that other post...two of them. Not icons, but same deal?)

 Any of you guys doing the Secret Swooper and/or any other holiday secret santa type of deal? Because I'm seriously freaking out about mine. I've never written like this, just going off of what I know about a person and trying to create something they'll enjoy. I mean, I think my Swooper will like what I have in mind, but IDK maybe they won't like the premise at all or maybe I'll screw it up and it won't work the way I want it to and omg I'm going to ruin this whole thing

I'm doing a Zev-based Secret Santa and not freaking at all. I'm pretty comfortable with the Zevranites though. I think I'd freak out if I was doing something for the Swoopers, since I'm not too familar with that crowd and, thus, intimidation.

I'm signed up for the Zevran one, too (Zecret Zanta?) and indeed, the thought of writing someone else's Warden is a bit intimidating, especially for the folks' whose Wardens I don't know all that well.



But it's the thought that counts, right?

Depends; folks are posting sort of wishlists, and many would like their Wardens. Others are fine with pre-Ferelden Antivan shenanigans or similar. And then there's the weirdo who wants the Zevran-as-Bond AU stuff. *cough* *cough*

Oh man I would be so intimidated. No, I'm not writing my giftee's warden. It's a completely different side-story and one that is relevant to her interests so I really hope she'll enjoy it.

see, this is why fic exchanges are hard. Drawing is sooooo much easier. "Soignee, draw my warden with Morrigan juggling live cats." "OK fellow crayon eater, draw mine with Zevran on a trapeze." "kay, on it."



For the ficcers I've requested "Zevran with a dwarf, doesn't have to be mine and/or about the unf unf" which I hope is less intimidating then LOL MISSA PLEASE.

I think that I would only do a fic exchange if I got to swear *no wardens*. I just don't want to try to write someone else's self-insert (and don't care to do the research it would take to understand what the character had done in game/was like/etc.)



That said, my secret sandal assignment was pretty awesome. (Although it looks like I'm the only one who got one. Oh well...)
