There should totally be a mod that replaces the silly bridge puzzle in the Gauntlet with Live Cat Juggling.

"As Andraste juggled cats, so too shall you juggle cats, thereby proving your worthiness to behold the Sacred Ashes."

"Sod it, you're just messing with us now, aren't you?"

"In truth, we have lost the pieces to the 'Risk' game that was the third challenge, so now you pilgrims shall juggle the cats."

"I hate you."

If you just wanted to make the players cry:

It is a truth universally acknowledged that the Deep Roads are the favorite makeout spot of Ferelden. Aww yeah, baby.

I don't see why.  They're dark, dirty, and dangerous.  And cold.  And muddy.  Plus the darkspawn--deeper in it probably smells awful.    My canon Warden and his party spend most of their time moping wondering if they'll ever see the sun again or end up overrun and killed, turned to brood mothers, or left wandering the darkness as ghouls until they die from the Taint.  :?  Nobody made out with anyone in the Deep Roads in my story!

That said, my secret sandal assignment was pretty awesome. ;) (Although it looks like I'm the only one who got one. Oh well...)

Wait, you actually *got* a Secret Sandal assignment? I signed up but never heard from them again! Which is just as well, I suppose. This Secret Swooper thing is going to be the death of me.

I can't see any way for my concept to be less than 10k. And it's due by the 20th.

ROTFLMAO.  I still want to give the Monty Python answer to those questions.

I'm stuck on The Rescue for the first time since I started it.  And it's close to the end, dammit.

I think that Secret Sandal and Minor Key died a messy death not long ago. From what I've heard, no one has a Secret Sandal assignment other than me (I asked for one early due to work stuff). Which is kind of sad, as I'm curious as to how my prompt would be answered. (I wanted evil dwarves. Oh well, writing one with evil dwarves now that will probably posted under my super sekrit identity. ;) No comments, Sag! The sekrit identity must be kept sekrit! (Mostly as the fic posted under it is really awful...)

But, ugh, 10K words? That's going to be tough. Yick.

Oh, hey! *puts on mod pants*

If you would like to participate, sign-ups are open until December 15th! Just reply at this post: community.livejournal.com/swooping_is_bad/1008340.html and you will be included in the next round of assignments!

ETA: We are no longer an Alistair-specific fan community. So if you're interested and don't want to write about Alistair, have no fear! That is perfectly acceptable!

Well, I guess depending on who you *get*, anyway.

Argh, complicated plot is complicated. I'm nearly ready to get out the dry/erase board to try and map it out.

How big is this board? It may need to be bigger. Posted Image

I've given up trying to find connections with every plotline I create. That's going to get me in the long run, but this way I don't have to read my 50-page story twice every time I write a new chapter.

You guys don't even know. I always sketch out outlines and crap in these legal pads that my husband and I have scattered about the apartment. We must have like a dozen of them.

Without fail, any time he takes one in his bag with him to work, he takes the one I JUST WROTE MY WHOLE CHAPTER OUT ON.

So much rage. The phone messages are *harsh* y'all

I need a white board. I should know better than to write a soap. But weird pairings are my drug of choice. And, honestly, why hook up Cauthrien with just Alistair, when you can also throw Loghain and Duncan into the mix? Or see what happens when you make Anora marry Vaughan? Or play mage-telephone with like ten different characters?

...yeah, I need a white board. I'm already about to revise half my early chapters just to make things make sense in the later ones...

(Runs off to play with post-it notes.)

When I do plotting for RPGs, I often draw little bubbles with each character's name in them, and then draw colored arrows to represent established relationships: red for strife, blue for love, green for authority, yellow for money.

Then I can pick any two unconnected bubbles and consider adding a new relationship between them. How did it get there? How would it affect the other relationships? If it is plausible and leads to interesting results, I leave it in and figure out how to work it into the ongoing game.

I tend to write in fits. If inspiration hits, then the words come pouring out. Some of my best stuff happens then, with little need to revise or rewrite. The other 99% of the time I sit and stare at a blank page or screen and try to remain focused. I'll write backstory, outline characters, draw out connections, describe locations and appearances.

After a while staring gets dull and I force myself to write something, anything. The plot bunnies seize their opportunity and escape. Loghain becomes a ballerina. Alistair joins the Chantry. Anora discovers she's a mage. I summon the hounds, retrieve all the strays and stuff them back from whence they came and resume staring at the screen.

What is this? I don't even... *head explodes*

One problem I have is that my characters will have little one liners or even entire conversations that pop into my head. So I'll have to jot them down somewhere in the strange flexible outline thing that I keep... which makes the thing longer. And then there's all the little plot points weaving in an out of each other (wow, that sounded really dirty. go me!), meanwhile there's two characters who can't decide what they want to do, which means the ending is a bit more nebulous at the moment than I'd like.

But, at least my husband doesn't run off with my outline or entire chapters. I believe, if he did that, heads would roll. It's bad enough that no matter what I'm writing (fanfic or working on my original stuff) he just can't bring himself to leave me alone for longer than 45 minutes. In some ways, it can be kind of amusing. In some ways, not so much (and he knows it but try as he might, he forgets and invariably interrupts some sort of thought process. Poor dear).

I've started to get super girly things as a defense mechanism. It's not so much that he refuses to touch something if it's pink and sparkly and covered with flowers, but there seems to be just a moment of "Oh, that's Saga's, isn't it?" and he'll leave it the hell alone.

If I ever get anything that's just plain or grown-up he doesn't notice that it's covered in my handwriting/attached to my laptop/in my drawer in the desk and just makes off with it.

V. annoying.

Nnnnot that I can think of offhand, but I'm pretty sure I've had a few with 3 out of 4.

(Bonus notational feature: arrows can be single or double-headed, to indicate directionality - who owes whom money, or if the love/hate is one-sided.  Thickness of arrow corresponds to strength of tie.  All stolen directly from an RPG sorcery system, but hey, it works.)

I desperately want to see all three of these stories.  I hope you are not toying with us.  Loghain as a ballerina is too good to pass up!

Feel the power of the AU...the power of the AU...

So far, though, the pairings have problems.   Alistair is too afraid to tell Cauthrien of his feelings, and she is oblivious.  And Vaughan and Anora hate each other, and I don't think will reconcile any time soon.  It's a bad marriage.  :P

*giggles hysterically and plots horrible pairings for Loghain*

*maniacal laughter*

Hmmm...well, I just did the kmeme fill for him and Aeducan (yeah, yeah, I know, anon fail. I do a lot of that...), although I think that went well for him, if I think that the character is still off. Hmmm.  I need to make a beta read it again, or sleep on it, or something and try again tomorrow.

But I do intend to make him quite miserable in Diplomatic Relations.  As I love Loghain's character.  And torment the characters I love.  (I think that Velanna is a very happy elf about now.  ;)  But Sigrun.  Poor, poor Sigrun...if I can find a way to work her in. But I must! Sigrun is too awesome *not* to write about!)
