I read your Anders story!
But then, you knew that already since I reviewed. I thought it was great!
(I am trying to write. And suddenly everyone in my chapter has a hangover. Because I have a hangover. This will not do.)
I seriously did appreciate that. You're like the queen of Anders fics so getting a nice comment from you meant a lot, ngl.
Also oh hai r u me? I'm looking around my apartment all "Man, I should do laundry or... meh. Coffee. Coffee is my friend." At least I don't have a headache.
@Raonar Somebody lied to you.

I sodding knew it!
Meh...
In other news, FF.net stats are still down after a whole soddin day (or so...)
Not that it's unheard of.
BTW, did you guys/ladies see that elf companion for DA:2? With lyrium burned into his skin? I really feel like Hawke's getting preferential treatment because his companions are just too much more awesome than the Origins/Awakening ones.
I mean really, a superpowered elf with the name of the hound of the norse apocalypse?

It's always a little odd if you post something when the stats are down so there are no hits whatsoever but you're still getting reviews despite the fact the site is insistent that no one's read it...
I am in exactly the same boat because I just got an e-mail notification of a review.

Me too. A name like Schrodinger or something.
Or Squip. (Sarah knows what I mean)

Dearest Shadow, can you give me some tips on how to open the toolset notes? I downloaded it for the sole purpose of looking at character files for reference, but I can't figure out how to open them. The closest I got was finding Excel sheets of characters' skill trees.
Yes, I'm an idiot.
Sure.
Open the toolset, and in the top right area there's a whole bunch of little icons. One of them looks like a speech bubble (if you hover the mouse over it, it says 'Conversations'). Click this.
The list of folders directly below the icons will have changed. Open one (say, 'Followers'), Open 'Alistair', then double click on 'alistair_main' to open his dialogue.
Click on one of the dialogue lines. I picked one near the top:
[OWNER] So, I'm guessing someone told Anora I was planning to steal her throne. She has a nasty glare.
Below this window you should see another window with a whole lot of tabs (Dialogue, Plots and Scripting, Localization, etc). Click on the Localization tab and you'll get two new windows, one of which is VO/Localization Comment. For this particular line of Alistair dialogue, it says:
Trying to broach an awkward subject.
If you can't see the window, you may have to resize some of them. Make the dialogue section smaller, the black cinematic area smaller (or close it altogether) etc.

(although really, if I'm the queen of anything it's of morning-afternoon-evening after regret. I've never been able to pound shots of whiskey one after another in the past, why did I think finishing college would somehow give me the ability to do so successfuly now?)
My headache finally went away after a pot of coffee, a can of redbull, and remembering I forgot to take my meds this morning because I crashed at a friend's place last night. Oops.

Huh. I get the icons and the speech bubble, but when I click on it, under is is _Core Soundsets, Demo and Writer's comp folders. None have a "Followers" sub-folder.
OTOH, I'm looking at statues. Whee! The ladies with the bowls and swords are supposed to be elven? Huh!

Awww, now I'm blushing, too! We need to stop before this gets too cute. See, this is what I was concerned about: you clearly are a big fan of Anders, and you write him very well, and I know when I get into a character like that I become extremely judgmental of how they're written in other fics. Now, I generally keep those things to myself because it's not like *I* came up with these characters. I'm not going to stomp all over somebody else's fic telling them they're doing it wrong. But it does make me sadface.
However, when somebody writes a character I hold near-and-dear really well? I LOVE IT. So tl;dr I'm glad (and maybe a little relieved) you enjoyed my interpretation, is all.
@inquartata02 Well, I know that was a course of study I put some serious effort into...

Side note: Reason it took a dozen years for my BA? I minored in vodka the first time through.
@Sagacious Rage: I know what you mean exactly. I haven't seen many Anders fics that get my hackles up, but it happens with Jowan a lot. Although I will admit, I have a fairly non-standard view of his personality.

The holiday season is totally a good time to write fanfic though, 'tis a good excuse to avoid chaotic family members and do something worthwhile. Plus the sun is too hot. Wish it could be winter here.

@jackkel dragon - That did it! Thank you and SoLD both - I've been wondering how to see dialogue in the toolset for *ages*!
Ditto! Thanks to you both, Shadow and jackkel. This will make research SO much easier - unlike the time I opened my game journal and typed out my entire first conversation with Alistair so I could refer back to it later. Ugh.
On a side note - they sure played fast and loose with the ages, didn't they? Bryce and Eleanor are 40, and Fergus is 30? I know they often started young in medieval times, but dayum....
