I won't write a DA2 Fic until I've played it and got something that I want to write really

I'm really amazed by the large numbers of words you can have for your story! I'm still around 38k and counting haha. Though that's only with 13 chapters so far.

This is a great resource for real names. It's how I found out that Daveth, Jory and Jowan are all Cornish names.

I love behindthename.com. I try, whenever possible, to give characters names with significant meanings when it comes to who the character is. When someone reads my story, they don't have to know what a name means to get the story, but it gives added depth if anyone cares to check. Or sometimes it's brought up naturally within the story. Another thing I try to do (but is really difficult) is keeping significant characters with names that don't start with the same letter. I don't remember where I heard that rule, but I've been trying to follow it for a good long while. It's a pain in the ass at times.

Since we're talking about this anyway, how do your characters themselves feel about their names? My own protagonist (DN) whom my account is named after actually hates the name Raonar.

Best skip my story then. Wouldn't want to cost you a computer screen. Whew! Good thing I warned you in time! There's some luck.Merilsell wrote...
Naming my Dalish Lenya was the rare rush of an epiphany I had when staring at the screen where the default name "Lyna" was displayed. Normally I just suck at naming characters. There, I randomly changed the characters and got Lenya. I instantly loved the name, so I kept it and grew very fond of it, since I can imagine that as an actual Dalish name. It was much later that I got to know that "Lenya" is a real name. Funny, that.
This being said I don't like the default names of DA anymore. I have simply seen them too often and it got boring fast. Seriously, if I have to hear or read the name "Elissa Cousland" in a DA-story one more time I'll smash my computer screen. D:
Gawd, at least name the character you write about PROPERLY. Ugh. [/minirant]

Edit: @LupusYondergirl (do I have to type out the whole thing? Then again, calling someone Lupus is just awkward, unless you're House): What do you use to make your coffee?

Just curious. I use the aeropress. It was a gift from a barista friend and I love it.LupusYondergirl wrote...
I don't have anything fancy for coffee. Just this thing. Which I admit, I got because it was silver and red, and matched all my other kitchen stuff.
I've noticed that similarity, too. When I heard/read the Flemeth history in the game, I was very, "Hey... I've heard this before. Or something like it." Then I was very, "Wait... Morrigan... feathers... crow... the Morrígan. Say what? I see what you did there, Bioware."I think I tend to go a lot more celtic than anglo-saxon for names than the majority of people, but since I have an academic background that leans that way it's just easier for me. That, and there are a lot of what I suspect to be intentional references to the Ulster Cycle in the Ferelden mythology (especially Cuchulainn and Conchobar. The whole Flemeth history reminds me strongly of the Conchobar and Dierdre stories, but with a wildly different ending.)
