I may be jumping onto the wagon late here, but toolset users should check out the "lite_ost_" conversations. Return to Ostagar was going to be much different... and written by the main DAO team, apparently.

I find this part of "lite_ost_cailan_corpse" particularly interesting:

There was a child molestation fic?

I've seen the troll a few times. It's one thing having an opinion, another one stalking people anonymous just to tell them how much you hate what they do. Very unpleasant person.

Yes.  Someone posted a child molestation fic up anon, without warnings, on POT's kmeme (tent party).  By the time I got there, the fic had been screened (so I have no idea as to how bad it actually was) and people were commenting back and forth anon, and not anon, and calling each other names.  It got pretty messy, and some of the names were...pretty vile.  Most of it has since been screened.

I agree that what I_Hate_Your_Warden is doing is quite unpleasant (and could be very hurtful to a new writer who isn't entirely sure of himself/herself yet).  On the other hand, I have an odd sense of humor, so I'll continue to hope that I incur his wrath.    Probably not, but...you never know.

OOC, does anyone see any kind of pattern with the fics/authors?  I'm curious as to whether the troll has a vendetta for a certain pairing/character/author circle, etc.

Well like I said, mine is up there along with another Loghain-Cousland that used mine as a springboard and mentions me in the story description. So they could have a beef with Loghain stories. But since they're all M rated, it could also be someone who hates sex. Which also sounds a lot like the type of person who would use their free time to troll. lol

It seems like the majority of the stories they've targeted are pretty unabashedly sexual, my own included, which makes me think it's probably some religious whackjob. Most likely the same person that's also been trolling Elysium on dreamwidth. And probably also the same person responsible for this (link is to post about the incident on swooping is bad) which, to me, is so beyond the pale in terms of cruelty that it turns my stomach.

I don't read all the fics they've listed but of the three authors on the list I am familiar with I know Addai is a good writer, I know Bellaknoti is a good writer, and I know Elisium is a good writer. I'd like to think I know what I'm doing, too, seeing as how I'll be paying off my English degree until I'm sixty.



That, to me, means this is obviously not about disliking the writing despite what their little header may say. (Granted, I do like to blame the religious right for pretty much everything from slipping on the ice to getting a weak drink when I'm out at a club to bad sex, so it could be my own internal bias speaking there. It probably isn't in this case, though.)

I'm afraid that whole mess killed any interest a lot of people might have had in contributing to Tent Party or PoT as a whole.  The moderator response and viewpoints expressed by some of the regular posters there definitely left a bad taste in my mouth.  The outcome was fics with characters under 13 are not allowed, not because graphic child rape fics are unwelcome there (regular posters and mods defended the author), but because they're potentially illegal.  Going by the definition of obscenity, if that kind of thing doesn't offend the community standards, I'm not part of that community.

Nope.  Some don't even have Wardens, so the person is not really operating according to their declared purpose.

Well, whackjob certainly, whether of the religious variety or not- hard to say. Ironic since all in all I consider mine fairly mild and it only concerns a married couple. I'm promoting family values, troll dude!! lol I like to remind myself that there are people on the internet of all kinds and some of them have actual mental defect. I guess I prefer to think that than someone would be pointlessly cruel.

It does concern me that there could be a new writer who might not realize it's a silly troll and take it to heart as real criticism. Think I'll read some of the stuff on the list.

I've been thinking the same.  I'm all for dark fic.  But a lot of that stuff pushed the limits in a way that is distasteful to me.  (Again, I can't say for sure over the child molestation fic, seeing as I just read the responses.  I have no idea as to whether it was really bad, or sensitively done but just about a touchy subject.  Considering the reviews, I'm inclined to think the first, but...)  I'll stick to the comparatively vanilla ffnet, I think.

I was just getting started over there when the incident happened. One of my very few 'deal killers' is non-consensual, which underage sex is. If that means I'm riding a high horse, then fetch me a step ladder, I'm climbing on.



As for the 'I Hate Your Wardens' character I'm not so sure there's an agenda other than a desire for attention. If the person really wanted to see certain writing stopped, they'd probably try to get the fiction in question banned for being MA or something. Instead, this is more like casting a line and seeing what fish get hooked.
