I think one of the reasons I didn't like the Iliad was that Achilles was a whiny brat, and Aggamemnon was an a** hat. The only loveable person was Odysseus. I have never had much use for jocks, and the Iliad is full of them. I prefer brainy geeks like Ody. ROFL.

All very true, but I found it compelling to see then tearing each other apart...

Well, if I am in a blood and guts, "lets show em our hearts, then show them theirs" to quote Oghren, mood. Then yeah, you can't go wrong with the Iliad.

Absolutely but I think what I really like is that everybody has an extremely detailed backstory...

Very true. That is one of the more pleasant asspects of the Iliad. Darn it, now I am going to have to grab my copy off the bookshelf and curl up with it again. Or even better for you classics language lovers, *looks at Tara* any particular translations recommended?

@Gil - I'm very flattered you would look to me for advice but I'm really not the best person to ask. :( (and perhaps mine wasn't a very good one anyway, as Maria13 suggests :) ). I'm *fairly* certain it was a 'Penguin classics' though, but there might be different translations in that range. All my books are in storage, you see, because we're on the hoof.

[How very odd - I've been trying to edit the 'c' in 'classics' to make it a capital and it refuses to let me. Oh well.]

Okay, need moral support.  Anyone ever run out of steam a little on writing?  And if you do, what do you do to get it back.  I feel like Austin Powers, someone took my mojo! Posted Image

Yes, it happens.  If I can't shake it, I switch to writing something else.  I can't force the writing to come, and while frustrating, for me, attempting to do so only leads to problems.

Yup...I know all about writing problems.  Been hiding in my cave trying to churn out chapter 14 - the illustration's done.  I always have get that done before I can write, but it's getting there - slowly.

How was your weekend with your parents, Gil?

I was good! Thanks for asking Ette! *HUGS* Mom and Dad are my best friends. It is always so much fun to be around them.

I didn't know you did illustrations. I am working on a portrait of Naseel right now.

Yeah, sort of - these are more like visual concepts rather than proper "illustrations."  That would take me forever to do given how slow I am at writing the actual story.  The illustrations for 1-3 of my fan fiction are on my forum - this is before you "suggested (told)" that I chop up chapter three in to smaller sections.

Which I did, but I freaked out because I didn't have any illustrations for the chapters!!!  My storytelling pattern was completely broken!  Oh well, I survived.  So, chapter 14 (really part 4, ahem) is done.

Edited comment:  Hey, go check out the Song Game...it's so fun!

Oh Ette! I didnt' know you had illustrations at the time I suggested (told : P) you to chop it up. I wouldn't have then. I feel horrible now! I didn't mean to mess you up. Posted Image

Tas, a masterpiece like that cannot ever be duplicated.  And I really mean it. I love that pic. Posted Image

Dear all

Does anybody else have the problem in writing fan fic that parts of it just flow and you can't wait to get it out whereas others, on the way to getting to the flowy part are a real drag?
