She won't save kittens!? :crying: :crying:

*cough* Umm it was rather meant metaphorical but even literally I can only say: No never. :P Because Lenya has a cat-phobia, that is originating from her childhood. So she would rather run screaming away and hide behind Alistair...or Shale telling her to smash the tree with those evil... monsters.

I swear, Ferelden would be sooo doomed in my story, if the archdemon would be a giant cat instead of a dragon, really.

Indeed. To her big fortune, I hadn't have the cat parade with her. I think it would be hilarous...but then again, I'm evil.

As for the archdemon- cat. This is how it would happen.

Scene in the Deep Roads. The Wardens are meeting the Archdemon and it is a giant... CAT.

Alistair:
Lenya:
Alistair: "....Well somehow it is....cute."
Lenya: *hides behind Alistair, shudders*
Archdemon: MEEEEOOOOW!
Alistair: Aww....it is... adorable. We have to kill it? Really? *to the archdemon* Who is the big kittie, who -- ...wait Lenya, where are you going?"
Lenya. *stalks off in the opposite direction* "I QUIT THE BLIGHT!

:wizard:

Okay, enough randomness now.

But, I would never, ever, suggest to anyone that if they don't like it, don't read it.  I'd suggest that perhaps they open their minds a bit more to a differing perspective.  After all, that's how ideas grow, policies change, minds develope, etc.  It's then up to them whether to continue to read or not.

This is where I'll agree to disagree.

I forewarn everyone before they even begin my stories that they won't be 'canon' characters so if they still continue to read and then complain they're not canon, then that is their fault for going forward and reading. I also don't say 'don't like, don't read' in a nasty way, I'm just honest.

I take the characters that Gaider made up and then add my own twists to them. Granted, they are still pretty close to the original but may take different turns here and there throughout my story. This is the way I write, this is who I am. Reviews won't change my mind about the story's course, all I would do is take it as that person's opinion and with a grain of salt. Anything regarding grammar or locations/armor/weapon stuff I would take into consideration though as I may have screwed up, so that is fine. I just don't like when people read stories they know they'll hate and then complain and review that they hate them. Like I wouldn't go into a thread that's titled 'I hate so and so from Dragon Age' because I don't hate anyone in it- I'd have no interest in that thread. What's the point?

And I'm not here to argue with anyone, all I'm giving is my opinion.

So. I finally posted the chapter I've been working on for the past 3 days. And I actually decided to bring in Shale.

I'm curious how this will all work. I split the party to give some neglected characters (Leliana and Sten) more screen time, yet I barely notice them in this chapter. I'm already failing at my purpose.

You could always just write a part of the chapter from heir POV and relate what reactions they had to the decisions so far taken in the story.

That actually sounds like a good idea... and I already did something like that with Duncan/Cailan/Eamon/Loghain, so it wouldn't be out of the blue...

Glad you saw it that way :D. I actually have to do this POV shifting constantly (I use this  "-.  .-"  as borders between chapter parts ), what with having SEVEN wardens (Including Alistair) in my story. :pinched:

Well giving everyone enough screen-time...is hard. I somewhat learned this to manage by taking neglected characters and have them have a long talk with my main character or other characters... but only if that is fitting to the certain chapter and makes sense. For example I had Sten with me in the long Deep Roads arc but he had about 5-10 sentence the whole 7 chapter-arc. Which was the reason he now had a longer talk with Lenya (which was kinda adorable to watch for me, bonding over swords and all that) So I never had thought those two to get along but after writing this scene there is a friendship in the making.<3

Anyway I digress, personally this is my favorite method to give some neglected characters more screen time and a chance to grow/develop. II try to avoid to change PoV often, because it can become confusing fast. Though I also use PoV changes from time to time to get/give insight to a character. But then it is only a paragraph or so, never a whole chapter and only one character at a time.

Of course, 5-10 sentences from Sten is like a freaking novel for him. Silly, terse Qunari. Or not so silly, as it were.

I really want to develop a friendship between my Mahariel Mage and Sten. Mostly because I always seem to take the "I think Im going to go travel" option and am always pissed that I never leave with Sten in the Epilogue.

ummm, I never want to follow Sten home because I don't want to die! All of my playthroughs have him going home to report what he has discovered and seeing as I... hmmm. nonono I'm not going there. LOL I'll just say that we become close enough to regret the possiblity of having to meet each other on the battlefield, on opposite sides, one day. heh.

Edit: I've been given a earful from time to time from Sten. Can you believe he stole cookies from a child?! He says he was saving him but still... LOL

Edit 2: It cracks me up about how if you say something about him not liking you he gets this exasperated(2tired2spellright) adult tone when he 'reassures' you. LOL

You don't want to go because you're afraid the Qunari will forcibly 'convert' you and Sten will be powerless to stop it because he's too busy being 're-educated' by the Ben-Hassrath. ;)

I have yet to get the cookie line from Sten but i watched my son get Sten to fess up to being a cookie thief. lol!

I would probably accept the Qun except that it requires me to be masked, chained, and my tounge cut out.

But my character has the Dalish wanderlust and almost two decades being cooped up in a tower on a small island in the middle of Ferelden. There are places to go and people to see.

My favorite conversation with Sten revolves around him mentioning that it is not right that the pc wasn't trained properly for his/her role as a grey warden. From what I remember it is activated after he mentions something about the children that are playing in Denerim, I might be wrong about the activation event though :)

Edit: I believe he mentions something to the effect that it was cruel of "them" to leave the pc untrained in his/her role.

I think you're right. I think something comes up in the Denerim marketplace and he comments on how all children have a purpose and are trained so from an early age. Sten is awesome! I didn't like the big on my first play through but my Dalish really won him over and i got the opportunity to know him a little more.

Hopefully we'll learn more of the Qunari in DA2.

OT but/

Do any of you find yourself planning a story after the story you are currently *trying* to write? I dont even have the first chapter of my first story done yet, and I already have ideas for a "Warden traveling to run from his actions at the end of the Blight/(possibly hunt down Morrigan)/ a trip to Seheron, Antiva, Orlais, Tevinter etc etc before the Awakening events begin" story. >.< It's driving me mad!

Me. Plus I sometimes can't help writing later scenes before middle scenes.

I think that happens a lot, an idea is burning away in your brain for something that will happen later in the story. It's probably better to write it, even if you never use it, than to forget it by the time you get there.

Addictive....terribly so. I just went through the city elf origin again from the male's perspective and realized I missed out on a lot the first time I played it. I had a story idea and wanted to see how crippled your party would be without Sten or Lelianna but I haven't got to Lothering yet.

Heh, Ostagar seems long when you are playing for a specific reason.

Edit: but the circle tower quest is worse unless you have the skip the fade mod. LOL

I don't think they'd be crippled at all.  My first warden didn't pick up Sten and rarely used Leliana (he was a rogue himself, so...).  Alistair, Dog and Morrigan are a perfectly viable team.  If you really want to cripple your party, play a non-mage PC, and send Morrigan away at the beginning because you don't trust her, and don't make an early trip to the Circle Tower to pick up Wynne.

I *hate* the Circle tower because of the Fade.

Granted, I am a level 20 Blood Mage/Arcane Warrior with Mana Clash and Crushing Prison working through my first treaty at Orzammar before I go on to the Mages Tower and the nBrecilian Forest and then Haven and then Redcliffe.... >.> <.<

I think it'll be easier this time
