OH THANK MERCIFUL CHRIST.

I've had an updated version of a chapter for ages, but having it JUST out of reach has been infuriating!

I can't believe they still haven't fixed it.

How long has this bug been going on? I noticed that it'd been taking a day or so for email notifications to go out.

The claim was they were going to start working on it Monday, but it's saturday already so it's nearly been a week.

I had the same problem with notifications and from what I read in the Help Desk forum, pretty much everyone with the notification problem is using gmail. I switched the email FFn was using for me to another email address of mine (that actually forwards to my gmail anyway), and that has cleared up the problem. Now I get notifications pretty much instantly, like before.

*sigh* I might have to use the work-around if this publication problem doesn't clear up over the weekend. It's... more than a bit ridiculous, really, that it hasn't been fixed yet.

Thank you for posting the work around, I've been going nuts the past day or so to update Vigilance.

Yay for DreGregoire for coming up with it!

Ah, I see the problem with new stories. It doesn't assign a story id until after you get past the server error.... Okay, that's no good then. On the other hand, you could probably take a previously posted story that you don't care if is down for a while, change the title, etc, then put the new chapters in and delete any excess.

Ah, in that case, than kyou DreGregoire for being the smart person who discovered the work around. :)

Hope they do have the problem fixed before I do start my next story.

I used Devil May Cry to post my new story and then changed it to DA2. Make sure you do the write up and name of the new story properly because after changing it to DA2 I couldn't modify the description and all. I had to take down a story because I hadn't realized. Duh.

Hey I didn't come up with that work around all by myself I'm not that brillant, I found it on web and it was second hand then. :) I think slashguy came up with it, but you never know on the internet, he isn't where I got it from though. :) I just posted here first. haha

Eh, well you still shared the solution with us, that's what matters, DreGregoire.

And I'll keep that other work around in mind when I go to start working on my new story if they haven't fixed that issue yet.

You know, it's amazing how a chapter that i would expect to fit in 10,000 words tops ends up at 15,000 or more. At least my muse is working instead of slacking I guess.

Help would be appreciated for the next Orzammar section. The story so far; an OC Warden went to Orzammar while the main party did the other three treaties. This Warden is a pretty blunt guy, the Renegade to Elisa's Paragon. So he got in over his head trying to bludgeon through the politics of Orzammar and ended up captured by the Carta. What would be the best way to get the Warden on-track to finding Branka and crowning a king?

Hmm... How on earth was he captured? And why didn't they just kill him exactly? Give a good reason, because the game's Jarvia really does want you dead, until you get to her and she changes her mind to having plans for you.

Carta thugs are gangsters basically so money's the key, perhaps they want him to traffic some lyrium for them? Collect a few debts from surfacers? Perhaps Branka borrowed some money from them to finance her expedition and they are thinking that a GW is the only chance they have of tracking her down?

DC Origin solution: fake sickness, dash your guard's head against the bars when he gets too close, grab the keys and go. Kill everyone who needs killing on your way out.

Heh, good one Corker.

@ Zerban: Seriously though how long do you think the rest of Orzammar would allow a grey warden to be locked up by the Carta? Perhaps, he had a meeting with somebody he didn't show to and an investigation into his whereabouts began. Not all dwarves are wrapped up in the struggle of the nobles, so there should be plenty of people to have a meeting with. Or you could wrap it up in the decision on who to back. Intrigue intrigue.

So, did any of you experience a 50% drop in reviews lately?

And to Zerban: You'd have to explain just how Malcolm got landed in that mess. By canon, Grey Wardens have an enclave in the diamond quarter, a sort of small palace all to themselves, and while thugs do run protection in the commons, I can't see a Grey Warden getting captured if he doesn't go to dust town. So, was he trying to eliminate Jarvia for either candidate? Or how did he get owned?

Well, Malcolm did the Orzammar quests up until the Carta. Problem was, he was making it very clear that he didn't give a crap about who got made king so long as he got his troops. He ended up working for Harrowmont because he's the 'nicest' candidate, so Bhelen got a little pissed. When Malcolm went to take down Jarvia he was overwhelmed and captured. Bhelen got the carta to keep him prisoner. So when Elisa comes around he can blackmail her into finding Branka for him. Too bad for him Malcolm escapes on his own.

Umm... the problem with that is that Bhelen isn't in the good with the Carta anymore. He can;t order or ask them to do anything (you'll notice in his VO notes that he is hateful of them when he sends you after them). The main reason is because Jarvia has incriminating papers linking him to Trian's murder.

Plus, Jarvia is running loose. With the succession crisis, she began to harass the merchants in the commons and even sent tunnellers to try and break into the palace treasury (the game has the warden run into them). So no, unless you're going totally AU for some reason, Bhelen sending the orders doesn't make much sense (sorry if I come across as annoying or anything).

You should keep in mind that Jarvia wants to take over the city too.

PS:

Seems like people are giving Bhelen way too much credit.

Let's see... I'm Jarvia and I have a Grey Warden who's been working for Harrowmont in my grasp. Prince Bhelen is unhappy that I have blackmail on him. *Somebody's* got to be on the throne, but they've got to recognize *my* authority in Dust Town, and leave my smugglers alone.

Harrowmont will shut down trade as cold as he can; good for increasing what my smugglers can charge. But Harrowmont likes to pretend that he has "principles" and wouldn't work with a duster like me. Bhelen's got *Rica* in his house. *My* Rica.

I could easily see Jarvia making an overture to Bhelen. She'll kill this troublesome Grey Warden for free, just to show she's on his side. Or if he'd like for her to hold onto him... well, that's a bit risky. She'll do it for Orzammar's next king, of course, as long as he can get her the funds to properly secure the prisoner. If all goes well, they can have a working relationship.

The papers? Are safely hidden. If anything happens to Jarvia, they'll show up in the Assembly the next day (she claims). They're her insurance. But as long as he plays straight, she will, too. Honest.

@Roanar - Actually, I've had even more reviews than I did before. Funny how doing a couple of cliffhangers do that. ;)

And it seems like ff.net is still having that wonderful issue with updating stories or creating new ones.
