I've been getting a decent number of reviews, even without updating in ages, but I think people are hungry for Anders fics at the moment. My hits are insane because of it.
I couldn't resist starting my da2 fic last night, though. It was giving me writers block on everything else.

Maybe she did have that plan in the game.  Doesn't she say to take the Warden alive in the final combat in the hideout?

No. She says she wants to become Queen and says she has plans for the Warden, because he's a mouthy/pretty one. She;s actually a real smug snake that thinks she can take over the whole City.

"I have plans for her" actually has a rather salacious menacing tone to it rather than being something coldly calculated...

I think what she says is, "It doesn't matter who is king as long as there's a queen!" I didn't get the idea that she was so far out of her gourd that she thought she could actually sit on Orzammar's throne. She'd exploit the chaos (and prolong it) for as long as she could, building up the money/power/men to control most of the city's trade from the shadows. (At least, what we see of her men in action suggests an interest mostly in shaking down merchants and traders.)

That was how I interpreted it as well.  And I did think that when she said "she had plans" for the mouthy/pretty one, that she meant she meant to use them somehow, rather than kill them.

It seems bizarre that it's taken so long.  With the workaround so easy, you would think it would be something that could be fixed with a single line of code.

it wasn't too bad. I uploaded under a game called "dragon rage" since I figured most people would gloss over the extra letter in their notifications. Once it was up I moved it to DA. Got an error, but it moved anyways.
You can't change your description once it's moved, though, and no characters will be flagged (since they won't be there in your fake category and you can't edit once it's in the right one) so keep that in mind. I put the characters in my description for now.

Being a pessimist I also set my rating to M, in the event that it's still broken when I need an M rating.

@Lupus - Yeah, I was planning on using that fix, just still something of a PITA.

And I've come to the conclusion that I don't think I can write under M, simply because I'm not afraid to get descriptive with stuff (not necessarily sex, just disturbing things in general)

Yeah, I'm the same way. Especially given my love of letting people get injured and hamfisting my essentially anti-violence views into making battle as unpleasant as possible.

Holy hell, my last chapter, along with some meager A/N, ended up at 23,004 words. I must be out of my mind.

That is a lot of words. My word counts are much smaller. But mine is a comic so dialogue is only important to write properly. Everything else is brief notes on the action and is very scratchy and incomplete XD man I need to complete my character sheets already so I can start drawing it already. Promised April would be a month of portraits though. Got to work on my faces and make them better. I guess I could do dragon age portraits too figure out how to draw everyone and what not.

On another note I'm actually quite annoyed with myself for not backing up my Ostergar chapters my old pc died on me and currently have no way of getting into it. I'm considering just buying a case for my hard drive. Though I might just rewrite it when I'm not so annoyed.

Dying PCs are a real annoyance, yeah. I myself went through an episode of video card catching fire (literally) although that, at least, had no effect on the data stored on my hard drive. It would suck to write 20,000 words and just have it go up in the air ))

Yeah, I'm a big fan of backups of the important stuff. Dropbox and an external drive are awesome.

Okay, why 20k+ words for a single chapter? Why not split it into smaller chunks? Was there not a single place where it could've been broken up? I mean, 23,000 words is technically a novella.

Fire in a pc doesn't seam the best thing XD I don't think its the hard drive what's the problem so getting one of those little case things should do the trick. It would defiantly suck to write that many words again. Luckily as i said dialogue and scratchy descriptions. Shame I hadn't done the thumbs for it. That would make it so much easier to rewrite.

I'm usually good at having multiple back ups. I usually dump them in my email, on my usb stick and the pc. But for some stupid reason I didn't do it with those chapters even though I could have sworn I did.

Well, normally, I don;t aim for more than 9000.... but things sometimes go haywire. I select a point in the story i want to reach and then elaborate on things. The shortest chapter of mine was 5000 words or so but, well, things happen.

Fact is, I am dealing with characters going through emotional and mental development, and I need to make the shift believable and smooth. Plus that I constantly throw in foreshadowing elements and plot points, for later use.

So yeah. And I manage to get one done each week, which is my goal anyway.

The main fault probably lies with the number of characters and the fact that I do my best to develop them all (write parts from their POVs, for instance

Not snacking. What I do is somehow wind up browsing the internet.... sometimes even starting to read some thing or another. TV tropes, likewise, sometimes hounds me.

Also, I am a bit put off. I deliberately held off on publishing my newest chapter until it was the very firt moment of the new day, according to FF.net's own time zone. I wanted to see how many hits I could make in just one day... and now stats are dead. Lovely.

Ah well.
