I live in the Northwest US and we have tons of awesome microbrews availible locally. Zonker Stout, Black Butte Porter, Alaskan Smoked Porter, 1554 (New Belgium Brewing Co) are some of my favorites. Lately I have been indulging in Imperial Stouts - Old Rasputin when I can find it and Sam Adams when I can't.

*perks* You live in the Pac NW? So do I. And yes, there are some excellent beers here. I get so happy when summer nears so that I can get Strawberry Fields Ale. Yum.

Idaho, so not quite Pacific. Favorite vacation spots are Portland, Seattle and the Olympic Penninsula - fishing, seafood, beer, what's not to love?

WA State here. Oh wait, it's not strawberry fields. It's Pete's Wicked Strawberry Blonde. I had an empty bottle on my desk

Yum, micro brewers! We have a microbrewery in Austin that is a restaurant. You can get a sampler of all their beers, and yummy nibbles, while sitting on the patio. Lovely. : D
There are a couple of places like that around here - except without the outdoor patio. Probably impractical when it snows in MAY. Yes, I woke up to an inch of snow again this morning. I know it does that here, but I'm ready for spring!

I forgot that my formatting got nommed. Anyone got a recommendation on how to make more permanent scene breaks for FF.net?
So far the only thing I have had work is to use the line break on the FF site after I upload my chapter, but before I post it to my story.
Oh, and about the FF viral ads (re: your posts on Zev thread) that happened to me too - I am using Malwarebytes Anti-Malware progam now because McAfee is worthless for this.

Yeah I was the one that sent you that review mentioning the formatting. I've been using .'s. You can check out this story to see how I did it.

There are viral ads on ffnet?

Yeah, this happened to me too :/ I've been using the standard FF.Net linebreaks since then...less chance of random punctuation being eaten. *sigh*

Yes. Slipped past my silly paranoid registry protection and everything. It must disable those sorts of programs first. Even keeps you from opening the task manager.
@Tasmen: I will attempt something like that since line breaks break the scene a little too much. Thank you. And, about the viral ads, yes. They're actually ransomware, but there's really no need to make a distinction from their behavior.

FYI, I sent a message to them about it. This is what I got back:
I see what you mean. This feature was disabled for site upgrade. It
will be restored in a few days. But for the future, please use the
build-in "horizontal line ruler" feature of the Document Manager to
separate paragraphs.
It appears to be accidental, but I wasn't aware that things like *'s and ~'s were features

Ah, cool. Thanks for doing this and posting the reply. It does feel a bit weird to be told symbols are 'features' XD I suppose I will leave off fixing all my old fanfics if they intend to fix the problem...wonder how long it'll really take them, though.

I'm still aggravated that simple "- - - - -" is too much for them to cope with, having had to fix all my stories twice within two weeks. It's less intrusive than the hr bar across the entire page... but at least they didn't just up and delete all instances of these "feature" characters, this time, scene-break or otherwise.
I've taken the b*tchy route, and slapped "go read at my website where the formatting doesn't get screwed" across all my backed-up fics, so if someone is reading and suddenly it's half-incoherent from a scene divider being gone, they know where to find the original. I have 270,000+ words and growing on that site, I can't keep having to go back and fix it all if they decide to eat the hr break next (again).
Hm, ffnet ranting would summon me to the 39th page of a thread I haven't read, hahaha. I was a paid member on that site once upon a time... but not since they started screwing the formatting with vigor in late 2003. They have a long history of this nonsense.
*shuffles back off*

Yeah, I was a paid member back in like 2001-2002. I wanted to... support it? It cost the same as an LJ subscription at the time, IIRC.EtteStarz wrote...

I have to admit, I only discovered FF recently - I read a little on the old Bioware forums and found links to FF.net after the new Social site was up and running. In my defense, I have only had an internet connection at home since 2005.

Yeah me too...only one story on so far. It's not the best site, but I do like their stats, especially the country origins. It makes me feel so cosmopolitan!

Well, the cost of the free site now is the annoyance of ads every time you go to a new chapter...it's swimming with ads, but it's free *shrugs* - I wonder what programs they have following me about now.
Now, I’m getting more paranoid than usual. <_<
