Sorry!  My BSN background is very dark and I have to strain to see them.  I didn't realize it displayed differently for other folks.

Does Celrath's mask work better?  I edited my posts to use that. (The text color thing doesn't work for me; I have to input the color code manually, but I found the right values in the BBCode in Celrath's post. Thanks, I will use that from now on!)

Do you think it's believable to have the Wardens working a little closer together a decade after the Blight, without having Awakening happening yet but hinting at the continued unrest of the darkspawn, to include rumors of talkers? I mean, Ferelden's Warden Commander should be easily recognizable within the organization right?

I'm gearing up for a run in with Antivan Wardens in Antiva with my Warden. I am trying to work out the degree to which she would be deferred to and how she might be sharing info across oceans and mountain. I like the carrier hawk idea, as well as Warden runners. Maybe they keep small aviaries for the purpose, sending men when they need intelligence and information that can't be carried on the wind. As it is, I'm planning on eventually bringing in the use of a specialized breed of Mabari, bred from our beloved darkspawn killing, immune hound. A line of Mabari darkspawn killers unique to Ferelden....all hail the dog lords! :)

I think that the Warden's in other countries will run things very differently than a Ferelden Warden-Commander who has basically had no official warden training. However, this is the warden who defeated the blight. Right? So there would be some respect shown for that, but I'm not sure how much pull (political or otherwise) the Ferelden warden commander would have anywhere else other than in Ferelden. I got the impression that each country's wardens only owe allegiance to the First Warden (and maybe a few other higher ups). I could be wrong though. I would almost say given the way things were handled that your warden might run into problems by thinking that defeating an archdemon gives her/him some magical I'm better than you button. (Not that I think you meant it that way hehe). Not knowing your endgame it's hard to know what exactly your warden did or didn't do to end the blight. I think it's all in how you want your particular antivan wardens to be. Are they high up in their own country or are they low in the warden ranks? Being who they are and how long they have been wardens and how much information they know about the archdemons defeat would be significant factors in the interaction.

Celrath's works perfectly for me I have to highlight the section to see it. :) And yours is all better now to. *hugz*

In this particular universe, she spared Loghain, didn't make Alistair king, and (obviously) didn't slay the Archdemon. There is still a lot of problems with the darkspawn in Ferelden and now the trouble is spreading to Orlais and the Free Marches. She's been working with the dwarves and has Wardens observing what's happening because no one knows if there is actually another Blight in the works.

She's in Antiva on a personal reason but wants to touch base with the Wardens there to find out if the problem has spread to Antiva and wants to talk to them about participating in a collective effort to build a garrison in the Free Marches because there isn't one as far as I can tell.

I figured that she'd be known in the ranks as she's got some scars that make her easily recognizable. I also figure that she'd be considered something of an expert on the latest Blight and thus listened to and have some weight within the Warden community. I plan on having her meet with the WC of Antiva who's heard she's in the city and wants to know why because she didn't send word she was coming or go directly to them when she arrived. As I plan on her finding out that toruble is brewing under Antiva the WC of Antiva wants to know what she knows about it.

As if being a Ferelden Warden has ever been easy!

I think it would be funny if somebody sent the warden commander of Ferelden a manual on how to be a grey warden. LMAO.

@KSuri. Looks like you have it straightened out on how you want things to be in your AU. Have fun writing it. :)

Buffy: [to Giles] There's a manual? On how to be a slayer??? How come you never told me this?

Giles: I didn't think it would do any good in your case...

Hehe...I guess so. Though all that just kinda came to me as I was writing it. I have got to find me someone in my area who is as nutty about DA:O as I am.

Haha I can totally see some of my wardens getting that same response.

Warden: Where's my guide book on how to be a warden?
Duncan's Beard appears to answer for the deceased Duncan: Like you would do anything the way you're supposed to anyways?

Exactly.

Lenya:*stares at the guide book, then shrugs and throws it over her shoulder* I have no time for that sh*t, there is stuff to kill.

Also Buffy? Best TV-show ever. Formed and rocked my world when I was young. And up until today still unmatched in its godly, witty way of master snark <3

I actually see my Warden somewhere between Buffy and Anya, character-wise. (Not as genial, mind you.... but inspired by in a Xander/Alistair way)

@SoLD, well, it's also Anders, whose situation is a bit unique. He seems to think it would apply to Merrill, though... I'd go out on a limb and say it depends on the demon? Connor appeared to be 'imprisoned' in the Fade, unable to see anything in the real world except when he was himself for brief moments. A different demon (a stronger one? How weak do you have to be that a barely-trained twelve-year old can fight you for control of his body?) might keep the host's consciousness "on board," especially if it's one of the demons that's so interested in how humans see the world. Since Justice isn't in the Fade, he can't possibly pull Anders's mind there, so Anders is stuck in his own head for the duration.

There seems to be little consistency across the board, IMO. >.< I wonder how much demonolgy Bioware is just winging for the sake of a good story. Was Connor just really really strong (despite inexperience), was there some kind of contract the demon had to adhere to, or were the lucid moments purely there to make the kill him/spare him decision harder (which is what I suspect)?

And let's not forget Demon Kitty from Shale's DLC! It could hop hosts and possess that little girl so long as she wasn't unwilling to let it in. And as far as we're aware, it wasn't distorting her perceptions at all...it just befriended her by being a talking cat.

I got a mind-bending vibe off of Kitty. Amalia was just a wee bit too enthralled, and a bit too unconcerned about going back to her dad, and Kitty seemed too smug over her conquest. And Kitty could talk to the Warden (about giving Amalia to Kitty!) and Amalia didn't seem to hear or register the conversation.

Charmed, I think is the word I'm looking for. Her sensory inputs weren't disturbed, but her internal sense of bad-stuff-o-meter was being messed with.

On demons. Thanks for replies.

Methinks I need to do more demon research before undertaking demon related endeavors. I'm getting inconsistent impressions - from examples and game and everywhere else.

Is there any other DA lore way to disguise someone?

Hey guys, new chapter released. We finally get a look at the demon in Ven properly. Thoughts on its portrayal?

Magically? Besides Shapeshifting, there is no lore to draw from. That doesn't mean methods don't exist though.

Depending on what you're trying to achieve, you could just go for the old fashioned way and get a wig, make-up, fake scar/tattoo and new clothes. :)

I want to make someone deluded, so he is tricked into seeing the world slightly differently.

I want other people to be tricked into seeing him slightly differently too.

I thought that a demon would work for both, but now I can't find the bit on the wiki I was reading that suggested such things. Sigh.

PS. @SoL. Haha. I had started thinking down that route. (But the guy needs to be deluded too.) I sense I need to go back to the drawing board.

Have you considered looking at poisons, Firky? Some of them are hallucinogens. The Shadow spec in Awakening also has a skill called 'Pandemonium', which releases an airborne toxin that confuses everyone in the area.

You could probably make something up along those lines that fits the bill. :)

Whoops, seems I missed all the people that replied to me.

@SoLD: Ok, go nuts. So when he summons a unicorn and rides off to the mashmellow kingdom...

@Corker: Well in Origins it's just mental resistance but DA2 gives them magic resistance so... I don't know. Force Bonds in were empathetic connections the Exile from KOTOR 2 made with her party members using the Force. Revan and Bastila had one in KOTOR 1, but it wasn't expanded upon.

It hasn't come up yet, though he was going to make one with Oghren since he's a party member too.

Of course for Ven the Fade works like Inception dreamspace, complete with Limbo, so maybe I'm trying too hard :P

DA2 also gives mages magic resistance based on their Magic score, so yeah...

If it works with dwarves, then it's probably not being done via the Fade, since dwarves lack a natural connection to there.

If it's only Oghren, and Oghren has been pulled with Ventus into the Fade at some point (e.g., Broken Circle), perhaps the bond was forged then, and somehow persists afterwards. Which might also end up giving Oghren dreams. Or, if you want to go crazy, trigger his latent mage potential.

Well *bleep*. I don't know how I'd get that done, (Broken Circle's already done) and leaving Oghren out would break the Aesop I'm going for.

Well in Stolen Throne, Wilhem checks Maric twice to see if he's really Maric. Since he's a circle mage, and likely wouldn't know about Shapeshifting, it's possible there are illusion-based ways to disguise someone.
