Maric's POV during the dream part of The Calling practically gives the Age of 18 for Duncan, yes.

I would have to reread it to make sure I'm remembering it incorrectly, but I thought that Duncan's dream sequence didn't actually have him as his current age. ooooohhhhh now I have to reread that section. :) Not today though. Hawke is too busy sharing his sash. LOL!

Yeah, I can't say I entirely trust the dream sequences for accuracy. Utha still had her tongue too.

Ok, I have a question for the FF thread!

In my current fic (currently on hiatus), I mistakenly put down Soris and Shianni as siblings because I could not find any reference to their specific relationship anywhere in game. Several chapters in maradeux and others found an in game reference -- they are cousins according to Soris (he only tells a non-City Elf this after being rescued from the dungeon).

So as I see it I have two options if I want to fix this inaccuracy in my fic:

1. Just go back and replace all siblings references with cousin references.
2. Make up some reason why Soris and Shianni are calling each other siblings (eg. Shianni lost her real brother during the siege of Denerim and joked (perhaps drunkenly) about 'adopting' Soris).

What do you think works? It's not a glaring error or even an inaccuracy many people would notice, but I don't want to leave it when I know it's wrong. :)

That's reasonable, Shadow, and I see nothing wrong with editing it as such as you are suggesting here, now.:wizard:

Oh I've had to do that kind of editing Shadow. Like Tommy says editing is reasonable, but I do like the drunkenly adopting him story. it makes a great story.  And a cute one. A bonding between cousins into a deeper relationship.

You could go through and change it if it isn't too much trouble but you could also simply write a disclaimer sharing your discovery in the top of your next chapter. You could also do both, one temporary while you are doing the fix. I ummmm... *closes her mouth tightly for a moment*

You could just say that they considered themselves such because of their closeness to the lost City-Elf. It could just be a quirk of their's and/or a mark in making them a little bit of your own. "We aren't really siblings but we feel so close because of all the losses we have gone through that we call each other siblings."

Edit: Which could actually be kind of a cool story that they share with somebody they feel they have built a relationship with.

Edit Edit: see I'm a helper I just managed to agree to your choices without telling you which I think you should do. LOL.

I would probably silently edit it; I'm having a hard time coming up with an idea for a scene/conversation that illuminates the 'siblings' point without feeling forced. But if you can do that and have it feel natural, that would work fine, too.

You could just decide in your version of the story, they are siblings!  It makes no difference to the key points of the canon whether they're cousins or siblings, so I don't think it's necessary to correct it, especially if it works better for your story if they do have closer blood ties.

Very true Creature. I kept Daveth alive for my Origins sotry. Anders will never turn into DA2 lobotmized Janders. So having them as siblings for your story works just fine. In fact I like it a lot.

Thanks for your input guys :) I may simply edit, but even though the cousins/siblings will never be a central focus I think I'd still put a note at the top of a new chapter once it's been done (maybe someone will find the actual lore point useful -- I know I would have XD)

@Creature - I could do that, but I don't want to. :) I just like keeping to canon as much as I can in a fanfic, which probably sounds a little silly, and the story isn't going to have any significant changes based on the Soris/Shianni relationship.

Hey, look what I found! An article on fanfiction that is balanced, well-researched and well-written, non-sensationalist even when touching on the less wholesome sides of fic, and is generally more positive than anything- and it's for TIME, no less.

Well, I found it interesting and thought I'd share with you lot ;)

I did think the article focused on the so-called slash section a tad bit too much. Other than that, though, it was good. I liked how he practically pointed out that a big chunk of literature is, in fact, fanfiction of a sort.

Okay, serious question this time. Have you ladies or gentlemen ever contacted a case of repeating/periodic writer's block? Like, say, you finish a chapter and are eager to write the next, because it's going to be essential and you've practically been eager to reach the point in the story and put it into words... only you can't get yourself to start, for some reason... and it only goes away in a day or two, or three, and it comes back after every time you finish a piece.

Heh, congratz Raonar to the review flood. I'm always amazed to get so much feedback myself. ( according to my stats I get 7-12 reviews per chapter lately...which is mind-boggling, really.) I'm so humbled when I see people getting excited over an update of mine.

I always need to kick myself to start a new chapter, because I need my time until I have found the right...well rhythm with it. So while I'm very good in procrastination, I'm especially good when starting a new chapter. Even though I look forward to write it, actually. Returning to destroyed Lothering and all that.

I avoid contacting things but on occassion I contract cases of writer's block, but usually I go to another project and work on that until I can get back to the other one, then there are others times that I just go play video games that put me right back into the mood for my writing. I hope you break through your block soon, if you haven't already. :)

That happens to me all the time. Sometimes mine doesn' go away at all. Sometimes it blocks everything or sometimes just one particular story.

I don't think there's a magic solution here. Just keep hitting your head against the keyboard until words start appearing again.
