Like shadow I didn't start writing FF until DAO but I always thought there were some stories inside me, it just took DAO to trigger them I guess...

DAO is like a gateway drug...
Seriously, I've heard of a ton of people not starting fanfic writing until DAO. I think that is really telling of the game and the rich history that it offers.

I agree Maria13, I always had something wanting to get out too. And DA:O triggered it. Now I couldn't stop if I tried. Oh and it isn't that I don't like canon, it is a great anchor. But I hate when people use it as a bludgen.

I don't know about stats, they confuse me. Someone explain? You mean checking out if someone from Lithuania is reading your stuff?
Yes the traffic bars on ffnet are busted for a great many people. So we are going through withdrawls.

Our stats are at zero and have been for the last week. That is how we know they are busted. None of our traffic is being registered.

Aaaah, where'd I give that impression? No, I have been writing fanfiction since before I had an internet connection. XD I think I was 12 or 13. My first 'fanfics' were taking people I knew from school and shoving them into a game (sometimes not even RPGs). The stories were all stapled together on A4 lined paper, and I drew pictures too.
(and they were alllll reaaaaaally baaaaaaaaad)

ROFL! I doubt that. I bet there were signs of your current genius talent in those pages! I did fanfic before DA:O too. On lined paper. And it really was all reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllly baaaaaaaaaaaaaad.I was worse than Shadow, you can tell by the length of my words.
I wrote a novel as a teenager. I've got it all typed and in a notebook by my desk atm. I give you a snippet of it's gloriousness...
"Suddenly I no longer longed to continue. I stopped and looked around. All there was around me was forest. I saw no signs of human life. The only light was provided by that of the moon. I began to hear weird music. It sounded religious or something."
I apparently did a lot of longing to long...
Oh the pain

I just went to pull out some of my old stuff and yeah...the pain!
My characters/friends were subjected to the following in the space of one story:
1 - being shipwrecked on a small island while en route to California
2 - being captured by talking Bengal tigers (apparently the island was large enough to support over a thousand of them).
3 - one of the characters was crowned 'Tiger King', another 'The Chosen One' and a third was inexplicably selected to die by being strung above a snake pit
4 - the characters all escape the tigers and are very briefly pursued by Daleks before climbing a banana tree to evade them
5 - Then they escape the island by getting back on the boat, which they somehow got working again.
Good times
Edit - Oh, wait, the tigers didn't talk. They had communicators that *allowed* people to understand them. Like Star Trek. Or maybe the Babelfish. Either way, they were very clever kitties.

1) They have discovered the lost Atlantis (how it remained hidden from the people of Earth who could fly in space to other planets meeting other alien species I didn't feel anyone needed to know apparently. They just did, all right? Geeze!)
2) the ship has aliens speicies that look like giant cats, Harpies from Greek mythology, and Devils.
3) they pop up, disembark and go through this cave where crystaline dragon tries to kill them. And it kills one of the "red shirts."
Okay I am going to stop there, it is like that MST3K movie of Hercules caught in a sandstorm that never ends. DEEP HURTING! And this folks was my idea of the start of a novel when I was 13?
Um, yeah. *gets matches, hands out graham crackers, chocolate, and marshmellows* Smores anyone?
