Oooooh I hate that!!!!  Now you have me curious if your bioware handle matches your ffnet handle because I want to be nosy and look at your stuff!

It does. I also have a thread here (my story is called Undertow).

AMWT? You're not the only one not reading it. I don't even know what it is. LOL! Posted Image

And how your friend feels about this AMWT is how I am feeling about The Night Was Full of Stars.  I used to love it.  But I am getting sick of the let's sleep together, no let's not, yes let's, no let's not between Ali and Jess.  I don't want to say to the author, but I am ugh tired of the melodrama.  Which sounds mean, and makes me a bad, bad, bad, person I suppose.  Does it make me less of an evil person if I say that I am glad others are still enjoying that  push me pull you, and I am so happy that others do like it very much still?  Posted ImagePosted Image

AMWT = A Midwinter's Thaw.

It's published on Livejournal in the swooping comm.  It's not on ffnet to my knowledge.

As to 'The night', I am still enjoying that story, though it did get a little slow there for a while in the middle.  But I can see how some folks might not enjoy where its been going.  The author is actually very receptive to comments, Gil.  I speak to her all the time.

Maria, I'm wondering what you posted as well, because I regularly read there and I didn't recognise you - which one was it?

Edited to add: I found it. Actually there have been a few nasty comments going up on SIB lately - not sure if it's the same poster but she was RUDE I think :). There was even a negative comment to AMWT which I was gobsmacked at, because it was a criticism of character choices rather than of writing or editing and I think that sort of thing should be handled privately! Especially on a fic that sooo many people follow and love.

BTW, I really liked your story on SIB ;).

Thanks Miri, you post has made me feel really good.  Apart from anything else I was a bit worried at posting something quite so naughty...  I'm glad you liked it....

Nope, the negative comment on AMWT was me.

FYI, you aren't the only one that feels that way about that fic.  I have another person I talk to daily that used to love the fic and now dislikes it for all the reasons you outlined in your LJ post.

Honestly, I've felt a bit weird because it's such a fandom phenomena and I just have not been able to get into it.  I feel like sometimes I'm the only person out there NOT reading the story.

I don't read it either, you're not the only one. I've tried. I really have.

Yeah, seriously. When I said people could borrow my stats I didn't mean ALL OF THEM. ;)

(Kidding, kidding... XD)

I think whoever said that they might have a limited number of people they can give stats too might be right, though. I mean...some guys get fixed then other people suddenly break? Weirdness.

Slightly odd question: how do you other fic writers feel about the kmeme? Love it? Hate it?

Personally, it's helping me get over any reservations I had about writing sex... and expanding my horizons is a good thing.

Behold, kmeme.  Anonymous fandom-related porn and erotica.  People post prompts, someone fills it with either art or fic.

If that's no hint, extremely NSFW.  The front page is safe, but if you click on pretty much anything you'll be loading pr0nz/links to pr0nz.

IIIInteresting...well, being the newbie to the scene, can't say if I love it OR hate it. It does look like a possibly useful tool for expanding horizons, though, like you said.

1) it helped me get over writing sex scenes. I hang out in irc with a bunch of people on the internets who also filled/gave prompts, and it took away the dirtiness/YOU PERVERT factor of it as well, which was rather freeing. Like it was completely normal to write about it, you know? Like we were discussing sports news or shoes, or something. And not Alistair losing one of figurines creatively.

2) Not written anything in a while though, I am refusing to start another story since my ongoing monster sucks out so much of my thought/writing time. DDW taking over my live atm, no idea how other writers *looks at Tas* juggle 3 stories at once. I did Aeducan/Gorim, Aeducan/Alistairx2, Brosca/Ser Perth (which if you've read DDW you know I've recycled) and a lulzy Zevran/vaguelF! ...I think, maybe more I've forgotten about.

3) I don't poke around kmeme anymore, the rape/noncon stories freak me out and make me sad. Apparently there's a better archiving system now so I won't trip over it, but eh. There was a horrible Brosca one that sent me into horrible mess for a day. I am aware I shouldn't have read it but as a species we're one of the "let's touch the wet paint despite the sign" type, and I did.

Here ends my rambles about kmeme...

I was subscribed to it at first, but I got sick of the constant emails. "My Inbox is exploding with porn! Again!"

It can be a lot of fun though, if you don't take it too seriously. I could never write for it though, I had to bust my smut cherry in my own fic instead...

@soignee, I am with you on some of those stories, they freak me out or make me sad. And my epic plus the other two I am doing (what was I thinking) suck up most of my time, and or thoughts. Boy do I love it!

Oh kink meme, I love to hate you.  I really do.  I have written FAR too much for it.  Quite a bit I have anon fail'd and fessed up to and some of it, I have not.

I visit the meme whenever I feel like I need to take a break from what I am currently writing and need a one-shot to cleanse the pallate so to speak.  This usually means that I'll end up writing something extremely cracky (if it's incredibly silly and cracky on the kmeme, I probably wrote it btw).

That being said, I'm still not comfortable completely writing 'put tab A in slot B' type of sex and a lot of the kmeme makes me rage and cringe (ask Soignee about my list of no-no words that will turn me off a story incredibly fast).  Imho there is a lot of signal to noise on the meme but there are some very well written pieces in there that are worth reading.  Yep :D

Wonderful!  First lemons and limes now kmeme.

A lemony or limey kmeme – sounds like fruit smoothie or something – cleverly deceptive…and no, I’m not clicking on the link.  My chaste mind has been exposed to too much already…but I do feel more ff cultured now. B)

Oh, the kinkmeme. What a journey of self-discovery that was. The weekend started with one of my irc buddies custom-writing a prompt so specific for me to just get me to write some damned smut already that I think the only comment (other than hers) was "I don't get it."

And then I wrote a few other things and was about to put it away until CAILAN EXPLODED INTO MY LIFE.

We spent a wild weekend together. A wild, glorious weekend. And I haven't been back since. But me and Cailan? We'll always have Val Royeaux.
