I have to wonder what the poor spouses think about all this...are they jealous of fictional characters? ;)

A little but he realises that he is real and Alistair isn't.  Conversely I realise that Alistair isn't the one who makes me coffee every morning.  I also agree with Miri that there has been a localised increase in activity, so really, they should be grateful to Ali!

Wow, 75 pages by fic writers since I wandered off to deal with the nagging of my Shepards and their alien and human lovers.

Hope everyone's staying inspired!

Mine was jealous for awhile, then he saw me working furiously on my own intellectual property because I exercised the muse with a little Zevran/Warden, Warden/Alistair smut.... and stopped worrying.

LOL welcome back Sialater!

Hey I emailed FF.net last night when my stats bar (after posting a new chapter and getting 10 alerts for favs, and story alerts, and the like) sat at 68 all day. Well they must have fixed it. Went to 71 after I emailed them and the bar is climbing today. Thank goodness no 12 days of nothing. YAY FF.net!

No it's not just you.  And, the other half always thinks it's them (and, kudos, in a way it is, but with a little help from our pixelated friend...).

Thanks!  With The Rescue winding down though and the Mass Effect fics heating up... Not sure what I'm going to do next for DA:O.

Ah, decisions, decisions... gotta go where the muse leads! I swear the muse(or muses) is a cat. Useless to herd, must follow where it wants to go. And you must do as it says, always, or else! The Greeks had it wrong, the Muses are a bunch of cats! LOL!

whooopsss. Real Life means no update. How the hell do you actual proper parents cope with a three year old ALL THE TIME. Not allowed to sit and write, obviously.

It gets better. My sons are 10 and 12 so now all I have to do is to buy enough computers so I can have one of my own.

LOL, my boys are 3 and 8 so I have a bit of both problems.   For those of us with older kids - I think aimo said it perfectly here (still my favorite aimo comic):

Oh, too true. Love it.

Odie - truly hope you feel better soon and Soignee - let's all gang up on real life and put it in its place! It shouldn't interfere with us the way it does!

LOL. This is really too true. Thank god my sons aren't very fluent in English yet. As long as I write in english I'm reasonably safe a few years more.

Ahhhhhh, nothing feels better than finally putting out a chapter that's been dogging you. Or well, it feels good until you start stressing: are people reading it? do they like it?

But ahhh, posting high, let me ride you all the way home!

@Gil and @Miri, thanks guys :) It wasn't so much a dipping into the compliment pool to see what I could fish out post. I just always get that high & low range of emotions after posting a chapter so I was noting it because surely I cannot be alone in being so posting bi-polar!

Oh, absolutely not. Especially with a new fic - I get all "will they like this as much as the old one?" It was a bit of a downer after Caged, because the response was so overwhelming - and then I think I did Obscure Heroes... and less of an interest. No romance = fewer readers I guess!

Still, the idea that people are actually reading it at ALL is so novel to me that I get shivers every time I look at my stats page.

Just watch, now my stats page will break....

Shush you! It will not break, it will not break, it will not break.... (a la Cowardly Lion).

Tas, I do get that hi/low bi-polar posting thing. Especially with Soulmates. Will this be the chapter that everyone hates? Will they read it? Then my stats bars go up (if they aren't broken) and I get new alerts for fav and story alert. But still, I dance in joy and simultaneously chew my nails to a nub. Fun times...

About to do the bi-polar shimmy, as I like to call it, very soon. Next super angsty chapter of Kai's prequel about to go out. Will I be able to live up to the angsty masters like Tas? OMG! Now I have something even more to worry about! ARGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!

Okay so I had to put on my angty pants and write.  I really need Tas' and Tanith's opinion,  do these angsty pants make my butt look big?  *turns around and lifts shirt*

Angsty pants don't make a person look big.  They make them look fierce.  *snap snap and a head twirl*

Oh wow... I should have looked here much sooner for other fanfic writers! Just reading the last couple pages has been such a "wow, I'm not the only one" feeling. So glad everyone is a slave to their stats bar and alert emails like I am. I've actually looked at the chapters where I got the most/least reviews and tried to see what I did or didn't do in them, to figure out what people might have liked or disliked.

So, delurking to say hi. My current story, Apostates of Amaranthine on ff.net, is an Amell/Anders one (although it's mostly Amell, since it's not really a romance).

Hello!!! *waves at Lupus* Welcome to our support thread for FF writers! Here we share our foibles our troubles, our worries and our triumphs. And we all have bats to help each other beat off the Goblins of Self Doubt. You will need a few things for being on this thread.

*hands LupusYondergirl her requisite set of angsty pants (one size fits all) and your Louisville Slugger*

Enjoy!
