This is the insecurity I am talking about. She also has huge daddy issues, which is what drove her to the Illusive man, who she puts all her trust in.

Though if anything, what turned me off from her initially is that she is not broken ENOUGH, which sort of supports what you are saying. Just like in real life, I don't have much interest in people who are completely whole and healthy, because those people are boring.

Tali is definitely nervous, but I don't think I would say clingy. She is pretty accepting if you turn her down, iehter befroe or after.

Jack's, to me, is by far the best.

I give you that about Jack, here romance is the most thorough IMO.

Okay the Miranda thing: I see your point, but I think for who she is and what she has gone through, she is indeed a great character. If she was real, she would be the same way as a result of her backstory. Now I never said I didn't like a person to be "whole" because I do. But you can be a strong woman and still be whole. As a matter of fact, whole people tend to be strong. What you face in life makes you strong and how you respond to life speaks to how strong you are. Yes, she ran blindly to the Illusive man, Yes, she has daddy issues, but the dady issues are not a problem. She is rather easy sex-wise, but that comes with the daddy issues. So yeah she probably isn't a whole person just yet, but overall I didn't get the "childish" vibe, but your new wording "insecure" fits better.

Now see I don't see Tali as insecure, I see her as very inexperienced and nervous. Not only that she is indeed clingy, because even during my playthrough, I decided to be freinds of course as I was romancing Miranda (second Playthrough of course, never cheatin on Liara) and Tali couldn't tell me how much she liked me fast enough. I hate that. Play hard to get for heavens sake. For most men the thrill of the chase is what it's all about (Another reason I love Liara). MIranda made you chase, Jack made you chase a tad, being she was initially abrasive and standoffish. Tali... she probably was counting the minutes until she could spill her infactuation with you to you. That is a child (emotionally) which is why I see her more as my sister, I feel the protective instinct kicking in with her.

Including this one there are three. And only one of the is an actual ongoing thread. The Tali thread has 303 pages, so there is certainly no argument that there is any other character with as vocal a fanbase.

I think this thread was warranted, as the other dedicated thread to the Tali character has really polarized opinions amongst the forum readers...



Personally, I enjoyed the Tali character in the first game (which I only played for the first time two weeks ago). I had never read the forum prior, and as such was unaware of the character's popularity. Only after I finished the second game did I start reading stuff here...and I wasn't surprised to discover that the "romance" (I cringe having to use this term to describe something in a video game) with the character stemmed from persistent fan requests, instead of intended story design. While playing it came across as rather forced and from left field. An odd decision, I thought, simply because in the first installment the character was interesting (with a feeling of depth, more so than all the other flat party members), but came off rather like 'Imoen', the protagonist's younger sister in the Baldur's Gate series.



To continue, I'll have to agree with the already expressed sentiment that the unabashed character adoration is going way too far, and definitely beyond tasteful limits. Having a dedicated thread (with a staggering amount of pages, no less) is fine, but I find myself constantly wading through non sequitur posts mentioning the character...everywhere. Particularly in threads dedicated to other characters. It's sad, but this irks me slightly.



Worse yet, I find myself being indirectly soured toward the character because of this unpleasant (sometimes very disturbing), saturation of "feeling" for it from an unusually vocal group. I suppose it's a direct result of not wanting to associate with these types, or share their "interests.

As you have pointed out, Tali is the youngest character. Her inexperience is on display for all to see.

I suppose what you are saying is what I was thinking. That Miranda is the most realistic character, in the she is the one who you could actually run into IRL. Maybe that's why I like the other two better. Tali is a alien who is always hidden behind a mask, which is something I can't find IRL. And Jack is the subject of a crazy science experiment torture scenario, also not something that you find just around the corner.

It is a Sci-fi universe, after all. I find unique characters steeped in the Sci-fi universe more interesting. Miranda, at her heart, is just a normal women. Which, as we may have covered, is not really my think.

ok you can't say tali's a bad character but i do admit the creepy stalker pages are really weird. Some people are just over obsessed. In my opinion Tali is one of my favorite character but I do admit she has her down sides. For Example she's kinda useless when you get legion and is completely useless if you don't upgrade her combat drone.

Hey! I have a PS3 though

So do I... but I'm not a fanboy of either xbox or ps3.
I love my ps3 for Uncharted 1 & 2 along with MGS4 and my blue-ray movies...
But xbox has one of my favorite games of all time Mass Effect one & two along with a lot of other games for the system.

I like both... xbox has it's problems and so does the Ps3....
Pc you always have to keep fixing or upgrading...
It's always something.
So I'm not a fanboy or any system the way I look at it is... they both have there good and bad.
As the saying goes you sometimes have to take the good with the bad.

I still found her combat drone useless when it's fully upgraded. It distracts one or two enemies for like 2 seconds before it's destroyed, while the rest of the enemies are still pounding me with bullets.

Why would you ask other forum members to "stop" their thread? Why do you care? You don't have to visit it. What business is it of yours? You were being a troll, and were treated as such. That should not be an issue.

The only legitimate thing I've heard here is that some Tali fans may themselves have trolled other LI threads. In which case those specific people are the problem. Not Tali fans in general.

Come to think, I'd suprised no mod has forced a closing of the 300 page thread yet. 300 pages is a little unwieldy.
