Why are they called 'Scions'? They're not the heirs of anything.

I hate you more because your name does not make sense!

This.

It's cool if you're in range with that shield slam. That's fine, you are trying to 1shot me.

But doing the slam 50 yards away from any party member? Come on....

Scions? Really?

They burn easy. ;)

Now Praetorians, those guys are a gigantic pain. I figured the end battle would feature a bunch of those, but no.

Shh don't say that, they'll implement it in with a patch and then we'll all be crying because we can't finish it as they made us go up against 3 of the boogers at same time.

I only saw them as a problem a couple of times, mainly when I don't have AP rounds on my guns or I don't have a Widow or Revenant. Use a Widow or Revenant on them, they go down fast, faster with the AP rounds.

Personally never had a problem with them. Their attacks are a breeze to dodge at any but short distance as they pretty much announce them, and they're slow. What ****es me off is that they slaughter my NPCs so easily. How?

Now this thread irks me. I really felt an emotional connection to the Scions. If you don't like them, then you're a sheep that never took the time to understand them. Try doing their loyalty mission.

Seriously though... Scions are not bad, you just have to kite them (notice they are EXTREMELY slow).  They generally kill your squad off -- repeatedly, so don't waste medi-gel -- but they go down eventually to Warp, Incinerate, or incendiary ammo.

^ Yeah, what worked for me was luring away their minions, dealing with them and then drawing the Scions' fire to Shep while your squad finishes them off. Not always applicable but still most of times.

easy tips for killing scion :

take high ground and far away
duck behind cover when they use shockwave gun
use the AUTOSNIPER with incedinary ammo

do not let it get close, ever.

They are so slow, it's their disadvantage which I always use against them, keeping distance, if they approach me I run the heck out on the opposite direction and find other cover, but if I don't I'm usually dead, but that's fine, I like some challenge, because otherwise the game is relatively easy, the challenge in this game, for me, comes at very specific locations more than with specific enemies, I tend to die in the same missions rather than against the same foes.

Also since the game is entirely scripted you should eventually be able to memorize their spawn locations and their numbers, and prepare your weapons and your party members accordingly and in advance before going for the mission(s) in question. Just get weapons that are very effective against armor such as the Carnifex gun or get Mordin with you and order him to burn the bastards.

I don't mind fighting them, but their level of difficulty is out of touch with the game. I would have preferred that Harbinger controlled collectors were that tough and not the scions. Harbinger is a bit of a joke in gameplay and swapping abilities with Scions would have fixed that

Scions are my most hated enemy too. They seem to have an attack that knocks me out of cover (which is annoying) and they can basically 2 hit you.

Contrary to everyone else, however, I actually enjoyed fighting praetorians. Scions are just giant meatshields that you have to dump ammo into, and pray one doesn't knock you out of cover allowing the other one to 2 shot you. Praetorians you have to stay mobile, and my only real complaint about them is that Shep completely lacks peripheral vision, and I have a tendency to run into knee-high cover and get blasted by their stupid laser.

What are you people talking about? I swear the Scions can hit you in cover with shockwave. Am I going crazy here?

I have a maxed out Incinerate on the max-damage specialty and it hardly does anything to a Scion. I have to switch to my sniper (thank God they're weak to my bonus weapon specialization), fire like 3 or 4 shots, incinerate, and repeat like 3 or 4 times.

I hate them, always in pairs usually with a swarm of husks to add to the problem and shockwave goes through cover, shockwave is made worse when the *** spam it.

Praetorians are annoying wit the shield constantly popping back up, but atleas I have cover from the attacks and am not swamped.

But Harbinger is worse than praetorians imo, getting a collecotr down to harldy any health then it just gets a barrier and armour, then you kill it, then it happens again.

Depends entirely on the open space or not. IF you have cover they're easy as pie and if you don't, but you have a wide open area, then they're easy as pie too since their shockwave-like weapon fire is slow and can be easily avoided.

Hello,

I find the worst enemies are 3rd the YMIR mechs when in pair, 2nd the Husks waves and 1rst, the Praetorians. Honestly, playing as a soldier, I just use the automatic Sniper rifle and don't think about them again.

Praetorians WOULD be hard if they swamped you with enemies at the time or didn't provide a large area to fight in, but they usually do. YMR mechs are easy to engineers unless they haven't invested in Incinerate or any armor-piercing weapon. Combat drones ALWAYS distract them. Besides that, they're not really intelligent enough to work around your cover. Husks die almost instantly when you burn them. Harbringer is easy to kill for me on Veteran. I just make sure to kill his support and go for him last (if I can), so he can't respawn. He doesn't usually get in close enough to be a significant threat and his attacks don't go through cover.

Their shots don't 'ignore cover.'

True. You can hide behind cover with them....You just have to actually BE in cover, you can't just be behind something, and you can't be popping up to shoot. I used cover effectively on Insanity every time I fought them....cover was especially useful on the Collector ship. I made sure to never pop up while either one of those platform scions were shockwaving me, and I made it through.

Scions and Praetorians are both extremely annoying. Scions have the go-through-cover shockwave, while Praetorians happily follow you until they're face to face with you.

Ok, why the hell are so many people complaining of that? It never happened to me. Maybe it's a bug.

If you're pressed up against cover it protects you from the shockwave. But if you're just using the cover to break line of sight it will hit you. That's my experience, anyway.
