I hate the accursed things. I've been hit while in cover more than once, it just seems to randomly happen.

One of them isn't the end of the world, but more often than not they come in pairs which is a serious hassle.

Praeorians are ****** easy in comparison. They focus entirely on Shepard. I had Mordin solo the one on Horizon (Insanity diff.) while I ran around crates. Mordin was firing at it the whole time and it didn't do a thing to him, it was completely focused on me, just running away from it and attacking it in the barrier phase where possible

i thought the scions were pretty easy. use incinerate every time your able and a viper sniper rifle and they drop like flies.

and if you keep them at a distance which isnt very tough considering how slow they move you can 1 move out of the way or 2 duck behind cover in time to avoid the biotic ability.

'It was horrible.. It still is.. I can hear it.. The pow pow pow of the gun.. My shields failing, My squad dieing, Then.. The you have died screen..'

With that aside, Yes I actually find these guys up-there with the Heavy Mechs on Insanity.

I like Scions. Though they were a cool enemy. Don't quite understand all the hate for them. Oh well.

On hardcore a few headshots with heat rounds from the unique sniper rifle takes them down easily.

A few claymore shotgun always do the trick. Just main enough distance not to let them shockwave you, while you could dodge their close attack(when they bend over). Their size makes shotgun effective at that range.

Praetorians are way more annoying, but I usually sigh in annoyance when Scions show up... walking mass of skulls and wires and pus-pods, no biggie right? WRONG. Bastards have shields and armor for days and usually demand my attention far more than any other creature. Pretty well the only things to ever kill me on normal mode.

I can deal with the Praetorians easily but Scions really annoy the hell out of me. THe ones on Horizon aren't so bad but are still annoying. No the one's that really got on my nerves were the ones on the Reaper.

Scions and Praetorians are both extremely annoying. Scions have the go-through-cover shockwave, while Praetorians happily follow you until they're face to face with you.

Ok, why the hell are so many people complaining of that? It never happened to me. Maybe it's a bug.

If you're pressed up against cover it protects you from the shockwave. But if you're just using the cover to break line of sight it will hit you. That's my experience, anyway.

That's my experiance too, though there were a few times that the shockwave glitched through my cover while I was actively in cover (ie not popping out to shoot)

Scions *sort of* ignore cover. If you're not huddled against the wall then yeah, it's gonna hit you. They're weapon has a pretty big blast radius.

Now, if you're actually against cover, you're immune. I'd almost consider cover to be OP in this game.

And yes, Drone's pretty much break them.

I hate those flying bastards. The ones who shield over and over. I swear, one time I reduced the health bar to NOTHING. You know, when ity just shows the name? Anyways, three times in a row the bastard used shields the milisecond I took down the previous ones.

I wish I was exagurating

HAHA! This happened to me on my first insanity playthrough too! Best middle finger I've seen from a bad guy in the longest time.

Now on my new game + playthrough did things get REALLY annoying. He would keep refreshing his barrier before it would even deplete. Not really difficult, just took a damn long time.

Scions... how I hate them so. I think Bioware was trying to throw in an enemy that would force players to change their tactics intelligently - a good reason for a challenging enemy. But the scion, that damn thing is so hard to gun down that it doesn't make me wanna kill it "tactically/intelligently", it just makes me wanna use some cheap tactics to take it down. In other words - a nuke in the face.

As an Adept I took down Scions real easy, as a Vanguard and Soldier. . took me a few tries.

Praetorians and Scions were both AWFUL to fight. Especially because half the time my squad is too brain-dead to actually stay in cover. I can direct them to cover, but some element of the game AI needs to recognise that the position they're "in cover" in is compromised. Or they just need to be smart enough to duck down so their shields can regen. But yeah, Scions were nasty. Especially in groups, which they usually were.

My main issue with them is their bizarre attack. It clearly comes out of a gun-like protrustion, but it travels along the ground, and then there's the fact that it can sometimes randomly hit you through cover.

I HATED Scions on Horizon, was slightly annoyed on the Derelict Ship, and enjoyed fighting them on the Derelict Reaper.   They were extremely difficult and annoying at first, but in later levels they were much much easier.  To me atleast.

I've been killed more times by a scion than the human reaper on insanity. Those things are way to over powered.

Same. I died AGAIN and AGAIN on Horizon facing the Scions on Insanity. Then the Praetorian showed up and I thought I would destroy my controller and cry in the corner. But as it turned out, it was crazy easy: I wasn't even killed. The rest of the game was pretty easy after Horizon.

My last Hardcore play was an Adept, and a Scion POd me enough that I Cained his butt. The Scion was the one on the Collector base, which means he was fairly close, had hordes of armored husks to help, and shockwave mania in close quarters, with nowhere to run, because you had to stay in the bubble. After the 5th time dieing, I pulled out Cain, and nuked his @ss.
