I really liked scarry character of some parts in both Mass Effects. I remember well, whe i herd in Prothean WI on Ilos "Can not be stoppet! Can not be stopped!", when i didn't know exaclly what reapers are, and how to fight 'em, i had creeps.
I also was a lil' bit scared on Freedoms Progres, on innactive Reaper and on Collectors ship.
I think that BW should made some scarry moments in ME3 as well.
Other though is Mass Effect 3 and its ending. How do you fell about final mission on Earth, or at least fighting a reaper on our homeworld.
Btw, i don't like ides like "Shepperd fins magic button and turns reapers off" or "Shep is going to main reaper and disactives it". The final must be epic. Blowing up star? why not. Huge conventional battle all races vs. reapers? Hell yea.
And then, IMO Shepperd should... die. Rly, like in The Witcher series (BOOKS), Shep would die a hero, defeating reapers, 'kos u see, i can't imagine Outro of ME3 and Sheppard having kids and dying at age of 150yrs.

Part of it is that they wanted to make sure you didn't kill them off before ME3- the only way to ensure they survived the suicide mission was to make sure they could never be a part of it.cyberwaste13 wrote...
Wow Bioware. All I have to say is, what were you thinking? Honestly? Why should I compare past MAIN characters to nothing more than a cameo? You guys seriously dropped the 'ball of potential' with the continuation of character development here.
That being said, you're right in saying that the cameos were all to fleeting.
As for what I want to see, I'm not too worried about the vehicles, weapons, RPG system, or scanning (that being said, it should go jump in a lake)- what I want is an epic story.
I want the 'Opera' put back into 'Space Opera' - tragedy, romance, war, victory, defeat that are meaningful and powerful. I want Bioware to pull out all the stops, I want everything to be up for grabs.
I want tthe choices we made from the first two games (both big and small) to have significant impact on the outcome of the story. I want to see the full gamut of possible endings, from total victory to utter defeat, from being the saviour of the galaxy to the harbginer of it's destruction.
If this is the end of the trilogy, I want it to go out with a bang.

I haven't read all of this thread, just most of the 1st page... The first post was a good post, I agree with most of everything you said. I've thought about how a "co-op" would work in ME, and I just don't think it would...
The things I would like to see, is simple RPG stuff. Now, I play shooter games... I don't know much about RPG's but I do know customizing the game to make it your unique experience is crucial.
For starters, why limit your ability to customize shepard so much. When you import your shepard from a previous installment, allow the ability to customize your imported shepard. Why did I have to start from scratch if I wanted to fix my nose for ME2? Every hair style in the game, should be available to shepard... I've seen these PC gamers with a HAWT SEXY FemShep hair style, and I want that on my 360. Bring in a colorwheel to change my hair, lip color, etc. I want more customization for my armors, and casual outfits. For example, you start off basically a Cerberus Op. They rebuilt you, the Normandy, and stocked your ship. Ok - your first armor, and casual wear is Cerberus. Say you go to a shop on the Citadel.. Now you can buy an Alliance armor - now you can buy armor pieces, helmets, shoulder, greaves, etc. Again - bring in a color wheel. While on the citadel, you can buy other casual outfits. Bring this ability to other planets as well. Like Illium, you go to Illium and you can buy an "Asari Commando" armor for your FemShep. HOORAY! As well as buying outfits for my crew members... (atleast armors) Miranda going on a suicide mission in an (although hot...) latex outfit? C'mon....
I liked the new additions to the crew. I got pissed though, that if I went down to talk to them after every mission whether it be recruitment, loyalty, derelict ship, whatever half of the characters were all of a sudden too busy to talk... there should be almost never ending dialogue options until the conclusion of the final mission. I wouldn't care if that adds another year to development, or a third disk change. It would greatly enhance the experience. I understand why Ashley/Kaiden couldn't be squad members in ME2, that didn't ****** me off... I understand why Wrex couldn't be a crew member... I even understand Liara... although I was upset - but still a more meaningful interaction with her would have been appreciated.
I liked how the upgrade system worked for weapons and armor. Mining resources however was a ****. The concept was cool, but the execution was horrible. If that aspect is going to be carried over to ME3 it needs a lot of work. Allow me to scan a planet, and my scanner tell me "this planet is rich in iridium. it will take 13 probes to fully mine this planet of iridium. launch 13 probes? YES!" That would still require some time, and dedication to fully upgrade your gear, but it would definately speed up the process. The way it is now, I do NOT want to upgrade any-freakin-thing. Or, at the very least, since this IS a part of ME2... PATCH it. So that it works faster, and is not as tedious.
Bring depth back into the skill tree. Take the ammunition out of the skill tree. Allow me to update my Incendiary ammo through upgrades instead of skill points. Simply doing that, and replacing the ammunition with powers and abilities would make the skill tree so much better. At the same time, I liked the "Pre Mission Loadout Options" granted after you customized Thanes weapon loadout, you may not need to ever again for the duration of the game. But allow me to use this time to disperse those ammunition varients. I know I'm going to fight collectors, and they use barriers and armor. I don't need disruptor ammunition going into this fight, let me switch it out with something else.
And decisions. When I first played ME2 I was dissapointed with how my decisions affected the story. Bioware built this feature up like it was going to MAKE ME2. And I was excited, only to be let down. But after the conclusion of the game, I was able to sit back and think about the overall story, and how all these different elements are coming together... And I started to realize that the major decisions made in ME are going to have a BIGGER impact in ME3, so I was ultimately pleased with how most of them played out.
Exploration is another important part of the games. ME you could spend hours playing the game and accomplish almost nothing. It might have been TOO open. ME2 on the other hand was almost too linear. You need to find a balanced medium to expand the ME2 exploration, just not to the point that it was in ME. I did like how on some planets the Mako came in handy, but I prefer the Hammerhead. I'm not saying I liked the Mako, but vehicles in side missions was non existent in ME2 until the DLC. Apply more side missions where the use of vehicles are important. Or hell, a main story mission where I have to use the Hammerhead, or escape an explosion with the shuttle where I manually control it. I read somewhere, mention of "dogfighting" with the Normandy... how SIC would that be?!
The suicide mission in ME2 was excellent. You make the wrong decision someone will pay for it. Bring that element into ME3, and not just in the final mission, implement into MAIN story missions.
All of this could be implemented and make the game that much richer. Ultimately I would love nothing more than to see the story played out in the most awesome manner possible.
These are just my ideas. Most of them are relatively simple fixes I think. And could easily be done. IDK im not a developer....

Customizable armour/suit for squadmates.
N7 type of missions with dialogue, renegade/paragon choices.
Fix point skill distribution (mix of ME1 and ME2 systems).
The rest can be like ME2.

Seriously, just keep them short.
Or like someone else has suggested, start the loading sequence during weapon / squad loadout screens.
Load screens does not a good fix make.

i want to see what my party thinks of eachother every time thier is an elevator
the news reels suck! i want to here jokes from mordin about grunt's lifestyle
jack and miranda yelling at eachother
tali gushing about her romance with shepard
DA:O did it beutifly with the party talking to eachother all the damn time
plus i want romance between party membersi seem to feel guilty whenever i dont romance either jack or tali
miranda can get herself a guy in five minutes she doesnt need shepard
but jack opens up if you romance her she becomes a good person instead of a sociopathe
and tali is in love with shepard regardless of who shepard romances i just disappoint her if i dont
so make some party members interact and even romance eachother instead of them feeling that your their only option
enough about that
bring back the elevators as metioned above but this was already said
bring back the hammer head and have it harvest resources instead of probes
that would be fun
you go down, planet an excivation device and the noise attracts thresher maws but you get a hell of allot of resources once its finished
make it signifigantly harder but include online matchmaking for coop but not local since splitscreen would destroy the immersion
and yet im propsose that if you die you can become your other squad mates if thier alive
it could make sense your suit locks up and begins self repair and you issue orders to your squad while downed

They use a 'trade' language which is common throughout citadel space. Each species has their own language, and indeed their own dialects. However, everyone has a universal translator that they use. Converting everything into your characters first language.

YOUR PLAYING A GAME RIGHT NOW
the elevators may be long but at least they were immersive throughout all of ME2 my only motivation to not die was that i would have to ****ing sit through the damn loading screens again!

Oh yeah, btw elevators=WINSAUCE i like the suggestions for longer, in depth conversations. oh and loads of them. make us WANT to get in the elevator with every character 50 times. Bioware can then say they have the single greatest loading sequence of all time
Definitely. Even if they are just recorded dialogue, they don't have to be interactive. But throw in some fancy camera angles some music tie in, and you have a great 20 - 30 sequence to break up the game, remove loading sequences and make the universe feel seamless and larger. (seamless and larger is what Me 2 was lacking)
Of course BioWare is now looking at this thread scratching their heads and cursing their fans.
I never had a problem with the original elevators, they never took that long and there was fast travel around the citadel if you didn't want to use them.

1) Make all cut scenes skippable, especially long ones like the opening scene.
2) Make the key that skips the scenes different from the key that selects the next option.
3) Work really hard on making sure the dialogue options accurately reflect what shepard is about to say
4) Map gun selection to keys
5) Get rid of scanning probably by replacinement with something else
6) Concentrate on the main plot (defeating the reapers), should be around 60% of gamepla time IMO
7) Refine and balance combat, guns, powers. Pretty good in ME2, massive step up from ME1.

2. More elaborate missions. There should be alternative routes to approach the same objective. Also lengthier missions. The best one that comes to mind is Thane and Tali's recruitment missions. They were large, lengthy, and full of enemies to fight.
3. Integrate Hammerhead (or vehicular combat in general) into main plot. I think its safe to say the Hammerhead's concept was successful. Now we just need it implemented better.
4. More complex enemies. My first playthrough was the best experience since I encountered lots of enemies I had never seen before (pyros, scions, etc).
5. Better weapon models.
