Elevators were way better than loading screens. BRING THEM BACK.

NO. GOD NO.

No good game can have a 30+ seconds of loading for ANYTHING. Nothing justify this. On my second ME playthrough I wanted to die for the wait of the elevators.

the loading screens of me2 take just as long or longer as the evelvators, the evelevators were much more fun atleast

No they don't. HERE at least, loading games/landing on planets are 10-15 seconds. Out of that, everything less than 7 seconds.

as the thread creator said the ME2 loading screens remind your subconscious that
YOUR PLAYING A GAME RIGHT NOW
the elevators may be long but at least they were immersive throughout all of ME2 my only motivation to not die was that i would have to ****ing sit through the damn loading screens again!

Yes, they could be immersive if they weren't so damn long. When the dialogue/news on Citadel (when it happens) reach the end you still have to wait a little, wtf?
Yes ME2 is a game lol. The game itself doesn't need to remind me of it. The elevators on ME1 are so long it breaks every little possibility they could pass for something credible.
Every game out there has loading screens, they never bothered before me so what the hell.  The ones on ME2 are a little artistic btw.

I for one did like the loading screens in ME2. They were always an illustration of what is going on during the load... (ecept when you died) with that said, they were ridiculously long.

As for the elevators from ME1 - they were only enjoyable when your 2 squad mates started talking to one another. which didn't happen nearly enough. If every time you got into the elevator you got that interaction, I would prefer the elevator over the load screen every time.

But is this really going to be the defining point in what makes ME3 so great? A load screen vs an elevator ride? You people have argued for almost a whole page over which one is better... IT DOESN'T MATTER! THEY DO THE SAME DAMN THING! Its a game, it has to load somewhere....

Would love to see the Galaxy Map from early demo videos like

Also the destructible terrain and the like kicking around, if they want to go down the shooter path, things like this would add some great dynamics to battle.  Also the continual evolution and development of the dialogue system that was pushed in this video.   ' Two Alliance marines and a Turian' dynamic dialogue is awesome.

Yeah I know this was all early idea's that were canned, or changed, but I would love to see BioWare pull out all the stops for ME3 and put everything they ever wanted into this game.  Make it the most complete game ever. <<< I am well aware this if rampant nerd fan-boyism, but I want to send Shepards story off with a bang.

i feel that the developer and writers at bioware should simply keep up the good work seeing as they have managed to lift gaming from the arcane shooter to a full fledged medium for storytelling

I think one of the main problems i see coming is that reapers are reduced from this all galactic encompassing threat to just another species of alien invaders that want to destroy earth.

And i fear too that the game will turn out this way: Reapers start attacking earth, you go around the galaxy gathering allies and saying "hey we have to save this one planet from total destruction", and maybe encountering some reapers, but the bulk of the forces just hangs around the earth the whole game until you and your forces come and try to save the little blue ball of water.

Even tough humans play this game, dont make the galactic threat favor humans so much, it's stupid. Don't reduce other well developed races to wallflowers and background standers in this crisis. I get it it's hearth wrenching seeing what they do to our planet, but you know whats even more disturbing? They doing it to multiple planets simultaneosly.

You know like the quote: "our numbers will darken the sky of every world!"

Cut down the cast and focus on fewer crew members.

Move the camera back.

Fix the HUD.

Add elevators and decon room back in.

Replenish all ammo and medigel when back on ship.

Customize weapons and armor stats and appearance via tinkering. (looting?)

Polish the animations WAY more and remove ALL vehicle driving sequences... you've proven you can't pull them off.

Stop putting in pointless side missions that have nothing to do with the main story.

Keep combat mechanics the same.

That's it.

Take ME1 and actually add/build-upon/improve it.

Easy as that.

Note: ME2 did 1/3 improvement(shooting mechanics) and disregarded the other 2/3 imo.(Story[fell flat] and Rpg elements[A terrible joke considering this is Bioware])

i don't know if this has been said before, to lazy to look through the forums but what would be the best thing for the 3rd game would in the armor customization, the return of the heavy armor from ME1. Or at least the shoulders... they were bad-ASS

I haven't trawled the entirety of the this thread so if this has already been mentioned I apologize. I found myself nodding in agreement with most of your points OP until you said:

I want to loot their corpses and be surprised by what I find due to the number of weapons, armors, upgrades etc that I find

This was the single most  tedious element of Mass Effect; stopping to check for loot breaks up the pacing of the combat and is in my opinion an RPG element that should have been put out to pasture years ago. The fact that most of your upgrades had to be purchased in hubworlds in ME2 made me sigh with relief, though I agree that more options would have been appreciated. By options I mean, for example, an item that improves one factor (in this case the accuracy of your weapon) whilst detracting from another (its ammo capacity) much in the same way armour was implemented in ME2. This is, in my opinion, preferable to an item that upgrades without trade-off because it exists to modify the weapon to the player's taste, but its use isn't a given if the player would rather have the larger ammo capacity at the cost of some accuracy.

Too lazy to look through the forums? This is the 2nd thread you have necro'd today... Apparently you've been looking pretty deep. :P

They've pretty much addressed all of my concerns for ME3, so I'll just ask for:

- as much squad banter as possible
- bigger/more dynamic side missions
- looks into some of ME1 and ME2's mysteries, like the planet sized super computers and prothean scientists
- squad mates that are more potent and versatile in combat; able to pull off melees, dodges, rolls, and multiple take downs. There's no reason Garrus shouldn't be able to cut down a dozen enemies by himself, so just add more enemies.
- DON'T SKIMP ON THE ENDING! We don't want text rundowns, silent epilogues, or FO3 narration style conclusions. We want powerful and meaningful closure.

I agree on the voice acts. They even beat those in StarCraft II. FemShep is the best ever!

Thus, I think E-sports might be an awesome idea for ME universe. Just if you'll like it.

p.s. and yeah, I like the loading screen, it gives a good atmosphere. Keep it.;)

I know I will get flamed for this, but I just want some free roam! I know this isn't Elder Scrolls, or Red Dead, but I can dream can't I?

Howdy all,

This is my first post (on any forum ever) and i just wanted to make my opinions known in the hope someone may listen.

I have just caned my way through ME1 and 2 on PC as a paragon infiltrator (insanity).

I would like to say these are great games and i was very immersed in both, and ME2 was an improvment in most areas.

I feel it is important to note, i was told ME2 was much more polished etc., I found the contrary was true. there were quite a lot of little bugs, i.e. i went running up walls at places and couldn't come down. Also times when Grunt is stood behind me i bring up my scope and for some reason his armour fills my sights.
Now these are little annoyances that should of been caught but that isn't too bad, all games have bugs.

The thing that i take issue with is game play problems-
The main problem that did more then once get me swearing at my computer was the "retard" button. Sprint/cover+uncover/vault/use, all one button. When your cheesing it from a mech or harbinger trying to get on the safe side of cover you don't want to stick on the unfriendly/edge of the wall. This is not what i intend to do, but i got to close and this distracts more than anything in a game (he's doing something i didn't want to do!).
Now i know this is PC specific and this was made for console hence limited number of choices for buttons (i don't know what console gamers would do) but PCs have the choice to make a game more responsive to the users wishes and that shouldn't be thrown away.
Also the lack of jump crouch can get annoying, i understand no jump and can live without it. The crouch is only one key and decrease your target size and gives a slight accuracy increase, there really isn't any harm in it. Also crouch may help if you want to hide nead a wall but don't want to stick yourself to cover and still keep mobile and fluid. In the final battle of ME2 this would of been helpful.

Suggestion: sprint should at least be a different key from cover (most games use shift and the command pause overlay could be v or something, whetever you choose)

Ammo -
As for other features of the game, i can see exactly what has been said before regarding Ammo dependancey (I actually read the whole thread). however the arguments of the physics of heat sinks getting damaged over use is overly complicated, afterall your in a universe where you could get to e.g. wolf359 in a day or so.
For all we know there is some funky futuristic alloy which doesn't get 'significantly' damaged over use, so this is all a bit of a moot point.
What i'm saying is that in ME1 guns never needed heatsinks, 2 years later they all need them???

Suggestion: Surely the answer should/could be somewhere in the middle i.e. once overheated you have to replace it, or guns take AGES to cool. Leaving the user with a choice, do i use a different gun or replace the super expensive heat sink. These approches would solve the gameplay, overuse of snipes whilst remaining consistent with the ME universe, the latter of which i feel to be the most important thing.

The spending of skill/squad points-
i vastly prefered the ME1 style where i could pick my fav gun and make myself a crack shot with it, improving from being unable to hit the broad side of a barn.

Suggestion: I feel a return to this system is not complicated, even for the casual gamer so it should be back. If not that how about you get better with guns as you rack up the kills (as is done in borderlands for example).

Iventory -
I always have liked steal from those i've killed, when you pull out your awesome pistol you still remeber the guy you killed to get it. However yes it was annoying to get rid of the mountain of stuff you wanted rid of.

Suggestion: When near a vendor, tick things that you want to keep. one big button sell everything else. This would also allow us to earn money from the looted, selling the dead mens boots 'so to speak'.

It might be a little late in development for these things to be read/implemented, i just went to share.
Anyway, thanks your reading.

I'd like to see them scrap SWTOR and make a Mass Effect MMO in it's place. Don't get me wrong, I love Star Wars... but I love Mass Effect tenfold more.

Just change the Lightsabers to Omni-tool-based melee weapons and you're good.

This will never happen... just wishful thinking.
